Greetings from Michigan! I've been reading a ton on this forum and also viewing youtube. Too much information- lol!

Ok, this is my situation: I'm not a heavy smoker, maybe 7-8 per day. But I roll my own as in actually rolling my smokes, no tubes. So I'm looking for an ecig with a great throat hit. I've taken the plunge and bought an njoy from the local 7/11, not really impressed too weak! Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Oh, and I rarely smoke outside my home, if that helps. What brand should I be looking at?

Hi Bangtango! Welcome to ECF.

Brand is all a matter of opinion really. In a few moments, you're likely to see a ton of recommendations. What I use, and it works great for me, is an eGo-C and a Vision clearomizer tank (v2) / Phoenix (tank and normal) clearomizer.

As for the throat hit, e-juice will also be a matter of opinion. I would suggest trying samples from as many vendors as you can at first. It's cheap, and will allow you to try a variety of things.

Steve, yeah was reading about the ego t & c as well as a recent thread about the kgo. Those look pretty good.

Kookycole I'm gonna put an amount in the $50 area to get started. Was hoping for size similar to an analog but with all my research I guess it really doesn't matter. As far as ease of use, I figured out how to pull the cartridge apart on the njoy, bought some juice (formula 51 tobacco flavor 2.4%). So what is important to me is that it holds up for a decent amount of time.

When I first started I purchased an ego-t from rob at Joye eGo-C | Joye 510 | Tulsa Oklahoma Electronic Cigarette batteries, atomizers, cartomizers, e-Liquid, accessories and more!, he was very helpful and customer service oriented, which goes a very long way with me. I used it religiously until I broke down and bought a vv mod. Now my brother is using my ego and I just bought a bolt (figured if I liked it I would get a silver bullet next Bolt seems to be a cheaper alternative). Just don't get overwhelmed stick with something simple for now and maybe even prefilled cartomisers. As you get comfortable with the whole idea of vaping then you can begin looking for something more personalized to your tastes. These forums help alot there is alot of info on here and everyone is very helpful, I lurked around here without posting for almost a year just reading, and I learned alot.

If you can do without something cig.sized, you'll be far better off. If you have no problem with the idea of filling your own cartridges, you're even better off.

Of the three you mentioned, the kGo is by far the better choice. The eGos are lower power 3.4V devices. More importantly, their "tank systems" are a pain for most people and they end up being jettisoned in favor of regular cartomizers and clearomizers.

The KGo is an 1100mah device that puts out 3.7V and is compatible with all the attachments for both the eGos and the other 510 devices, of which there are a vast assortment. It's reliable, not finicky, and costs less than the eGo "systems". Unlike the eGos, you don't have to buy special atomizers and tanks in order to preserve the usefulness of a "system" that doesn't work that well in the first place.

A kGo with a Vision Clearomizer works far better and costs less than either the "T" or "C" eGo tank system.

A kgo with 2 atomizers for testing juices before commiting them to a cartomizer will cost about $45.
Two boxes of 5 cartomizers will cost about $15. A cartomizer lasts about a week or more. They are disposable, but refillable.

The complete kit will include 2 batteries, charger, 2 atomizers, and possibly a drip tip.
Add the cartomizers and juice and you'll be set for the first couple months or more, depending on how much juice you get.

Here is a good kit from a reputable vendor. Add some 1.7 to 2.0ohm cartomizers and juice, and you'll be set.

I suggest getting small bottles of juice, or sample kits, from a few different juice vendors. This will be the most challenging part. Once you find the juices you like, it'll be easy sailing.

Visit some of the various vendor sites here on ECF & see which PV catches your eye, also look at the forum page for opinions & reviews - it's nice to see what people think of their setups & possible problems they might have/or how much they like them. Congrats on your choice of habits - hope it works out for you.

I now only use a ego-c but some of the problems listed here about the egos are true. Joye attys seam to be very inconsistent. Some will last weeks while others in the same pack only last a few days. I am not knocking the egos. I love and use them all day and they have kept me smoke free for over a year just letting you know the downside.
If its throat hit is your biggest priority on a ecig I would recommend a variable voltage unit for what ever style you pick. The higher you set the voltage the stronger the throat hit.

Moishesmom I'm north of you in the Flint area. Vgo is a unit recommended to me to look into very similar to the ego, possibly a copy? Seems to be dependable getting good reviews. Sweetvapes and hoosierecigs carries them among others.

Please somebody correct me if I am mistaken here but won't this device power just about anything WELL that's 1.5 0ohm's on up?

It seems like it would be perfect for a guy who was rolling his own filter less analogs.

I myself bought an Njoy and a Metro from the local gas station. Neither were impressive. The njoy battery lasted only 2 hours at a time and the Metro lasted maybe 1-2 hours. They are a waste of money IMO but most of us try them just to see if we even like vaping. Do yourself a favor and get a Joye eGo C system with a low ohm cartomizer. This will get you a nice throat hit like you are use to. I'm new to vaping. Been smoke free for 3 weeks now. I started off with a V2 kit. I found it didn't really work for me. The battery would die too quickly and not much of a throat hit. Since I already had the caromizers I found the Volt x2 passthrough. Didn't really need to buy a kit. Just the battery. Which came with the usb cord, so as its charging I can still vap. It'll last all day. I just now needed to buy some more cartomizers. I found that I can use the echo cartomizers, vision 808, and theres a 510 to 808 adaptor on smoktek. I bought a ego c atomizer set to try out. And I'm not sure if its much of a difference but the ego seems to run on 3.3v and the x2 runs on 3.6v. Just my 2 cents. I'm sure their are much more experienced people to advise you.

Its not just the LR C. The ego-t attys before them did the same thing but The C are cheaper and dont leak like the T.
It's not a Hard failure they just lose there TH and flavor delivery.
