Hi everyone, I'm Dharma!

I'm brand new to vaping (a whopping two weeks in) and committed to vaping as an alternative to gradually quit smoking. Haven't had a cigarette in two weeks! Yay! No more stink, ashes or cigarette butts! Sooo nice and don't miss this- at all!

Discovered this site, have lurked a lil while, and finally joined to better educate myself to learn the tricks of the trade from experience veterans. Web searches, Youtube videos, reviews, and misc. articles are great, but what better place can a newbie ask specific questions?

After a plethora of exhausting research this is what I purchased for my very first set-up. It was important to me to purchase something middle of the road I could grow with rather than something I may regret later then have to purchase another.:

  • Innokin Cool Fire 4 (40 Watts)
  • Aspire Nautilus Mini w/1.8 BVC Coils: Favorite so far. Better throat/lung hit and flavor. About to purchase Nautilus for bigger tank.
  • Innokin iSub-G w/0.5 Coils: Not really liking this- too airy. Maybe Sub Om isn't for me to get the throat hit, lung hit and flavor desired?
JUICES:
  • 6-12 Nic (trying to determine best mg.) 6 mg. not enough, 12 bit too strong and peppery. So mixing each to make 9.
  • 50 PG/50VG. About to purchase higher PG to increase throat hit and flavor.
So there you have it, folks! Just wanted to pop in, introduce myself, and begin posting.

Best wishes to all and happy vaping!

Hey! Keep the subtank around cause as you get used to vaping you may want to start doing straight lung hits and want more vapor. I started off looking for throat hit and then gradually moved to slightly airier tanks, and then I wanted more flavor, started with rtas, and eventually I went to straight sub ohm. It was about 2 months in where I started shifting towards lung hitting. Once you're off the cigs and really get into vaping your taste changes, and your preferences might too. That's a great beginner setup though, you did good lol

Check out ecblend, they have really cheap trial sizes so you can try all different flavors and vg mixes and nic and all that. I went though about 40 trials til I found 4 that I can vape all day.

Nice, the first two weeks were the hardest for me but I was using crappy Blu E-cigs then, once I started vaping it got a lot easier and now I have zero interest in ever smoking again. Looks like you got a solid kit to start with, I think the Nauti Mini is probably the best intro tank there is coming from smoking.

Yes, I intentionally purchased a regular and sub om tank so I could compare the two. See which is better for my vaping style (currently mouth to lung). And since I wanted to make sure I had something to grow into, I have no intention to get rid of the sub om for exactly the reason you cited. Great minds think alike! Right now amount of vapor isn't really important to me. In fact, I could care less how big a cloud I produce. Not a cloud chaser! Just looking for whatever recreates the best, "smoking," feel I can get.

Thanks for the Ecblend recommendation! I'm learning being able to customize PG/VG and nic is a beautiful thing so am gravitating to these companies. And, ha! Yes, given the
arsenal of juices I already have for a beginner (6 different flippin' bottles/flavors in different nics) you'd think I had a money tree growing in my back yard! Not so much. More like a beginner, slightly frustrated, trying to find just the right nic strength in my favorite flavors!

Thanks for your reply!

Yeah the startup cost for vaping is pretty high. A lot of that is the juice trials. It's hard for me to taste it in a crap tank at the vape shop and know I'll like it in a week. So I bought the 5ml trials from ec and that filled 2 tanks worth in my Nautilus mini, which gave me time to decide if I wanted the 50ml bottle. At this point I know what I like and don't like so it's much easier and much cheaper. Now I'm spending 40 a month on juice, which was like 3 days of smoking cigs lol

Wow! Thank you for all the warm welcomes, support, and positive comments on my set-up!

I think the Nauti Mini is probably the best intro tank there is coming from smoking.
Honestly, I purchased this because I liked the smaller size (wanting to have a smaller and larger capacity tanks), overall look, and adjustable airflow (this was important to me). Also, comparing Aspire to Kanger it sounded like Aspire tanks are less hassle. Read Kanger tanks can leak (?) and just seemed Aspire are all around easier. Been loving it so far.

To address other's comments on my set-up choice: I spent a lot of time researching different mods and tested several in different vape shops. The Innokin Cool Fire 4 seemed my best bet without spending a ....-load of money. Has all the bells and whistles (safety features especially given I'm a newbie) I wanted, great color selection (got the Amethyst), and the power I learned I needed. Several I tested in shops didn't have the voltage/wattage I needed to give me the flavor and throat hit I desired-after comparing each with several different tanks. Seemed anything below 20 watts didn't do anything for me. So far I'm very happy with it.

Thanks again for all the replies!

Btw... daleron: Thank you for the beautiful, sparkly, welcome! Love your Yorkie! She's absolutely adorable. And love your quote, too!

Thank you everyone for your comments and sage advice on sub ohming. I'm not totally giving up on it. In fact, vaping from my sub ohm tank now- honestly, because it's larger. I fully plan on setting it aside and busting it out every now and then to see if I've grown into it. This....

Besides, when you subohm, you will not need to use as much nic, and the less crap you put in your lungs the better off you are.

is especially good for me to know. I prefer more holistic measures to quitting smoking. I've quite many times before never using nic gum or patches. Always weaned myself off cigarettes gradually. After all, my philosophy has always been, why put what you're trying to get rid of into your body? So, jbok, thank you very much for pointing this out! Excellent info to have! Much appreciated.
