New guy here. I have made the plunge and ordered some e-cigs for my wife and I.

I am/have been a 1.5-2 pad smoker for 17 years now. My wife has been smoking 1 pad for the same time. We have tryed to quit many many times, gum, patches, books and cold turkey.

We cut the cost of our habit about a year ago. When we started making our own cigs with bags of tabaco and tubes. Went from spending over $100 a week down to $40. :2cool:

Well this doesnt help with the house stinking like an ashtray. Us stinking like an ashtray and I am beginning to feel the health effects from smoking. Smokers cough, shortness of breath and chest pains. At only 34 years of age these health problems are my concern more than cost.:(

Been reading here and have made up my mind to give this a shot. This is what I have ordered and am impatiently waiting the items to arrive. Last night I made these orders..

4 x 5ml Bottles

Anything I missed? Is this a good start? Whats my first step when it all arives? Any tips or advice?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to ECF. It looks like you've made an informed purchase. Great choices. About the only thing I see lacking is juice but you're covered enough to get a good start. I'd take a few days with your juices and see if you like any of them enough to buy big bottles. Between 2 of you you'll probably go through around 5 to 10 ml a day and you've only got 55 ml unless you cut it with the VG which will lower the nic level. But great start and let us know how it goes.

Hello hvacak47, welcome to the ECF. For vaping, this is the place :)

Your shopping list looks really collected and cool. It will certainly do for a start.
If I didn't know better, I'd say that you have been "lurkin'" in here...lol.

First thing to do is to start charging the batteries. You may use the PT right away, tho, keeping it connected.
It always possible to add to any shopping list. Here's some: A couple of atty's (+ possibly LR+couple drip tips) to allow you to actually try dripping (good for taste sampling). Also, consider more liquid soon, if vaping catches you. Then you'd not like to run out. Finally, consider some flavor to add to any diluted liquid, in order to keep the taste at same level. It will be possible to get the same taste(s). And a generic "Tobacco" can go into most of the tobacco one's. From your previous experience it seems like you'll be down the DYI route, shortly.

Good luck with the vaping! :)

When your kit arrives immediately start charging 2 of your batt's since you've got 2 chargers. You can vape the other batt's while they charge. If you're using your cartomizers just drip juice into one until it looks wet but not flooded. If you get too much just blow through it onto a tissue to get the excess juice out. Screw one on a battery and vape. If you're using atty's blow them out well to get as much of the nasty primer fluid out of them. Drip about 5 drops of juice into the atty and put your drip tip on and vape. Or, drip a few drops into the atty and put a prefilled cartridge on. Personally I'd just skip the cartridges though.

As soon as your batteries on the charger are done, switch them out so you have fully charged batt's all around. Or just use your PT until your batt's are all charged up.

Thanks everyone!

Is there a light on the batterys that tell you when they are full charged? Will it damage them if left charging over night?

Yeah I have 85ml total coming and will need more for sure. Hope I find a couple I like so I can get the bigger bottles. Maybe in the future start making my own. This is kinda exciting, lol! How long will shipping take?

Good job on your researching, yall will be quite happy with that start up.

You can leave them on the charger, the charger itself has a light that will turn from red to green to tell you its full.
Usually takes a week to get your stuff, if you don't watch for the mailman, it will come faster: I swear...

I would definately recomend researching DIY mixing as the cost savings is incredible. You can mix 30ml of 36mg/ml with 20% flavoring for 5 cents, or pay the prices you have already seen.

What flavorings are you using?

I've been paying $1.99 for 6ml bottles of flavorings. I usually mix at around 10% to 15% flavoring so I'm paying at least $1 just to flavor a 30ml bottle of juice. I would agree it's quite a bit cheaper than buying premixed juices. I figure it's less than $2 for a 30ml bottle of juice when I make my own.

Two days now with the e-cig. Still smoking a little more than half a pack but making progress.

Working on learning to fill the cartomizers correctly and how to inhale without coughing.

When I am pulling on the e-cig is there supposed to be a crackle sound?

Seems if I pull real easy it doesnt make that sound but I get a small hit. If I pull a little harder it will crackle and I get a big hit.

Only problem is I cough up the big hits and the taste is bad.

Try and find the posts on how to draw -- there was a good one that was something like -- 5 ways to inhale an e cig.
With similar early problems, I automatically switched to handling more like a pipe--draw and hold in mouth and then inhale. In any event, it is not the same as with an analog. Alas, I also didn't like cartomizers and I had a decent one, tho not the same as yours. Didn't have the same problems when I went to 510 attomizer. I noticed you hadn't bought an atty. You got the drip tip, I think but not an atty.

IMHO very good joices overall. Great job on studying. I too hated my first "store bought" mini---but still like my second tho I rarely use it!
