I have no clue if this is my first post or not. I guess I will find out after I hit send! LOL

I guess you could say that I am relatively new to ecigarettes. My mother has used the smaller ones for 2 years now and has tried to get me into them but it just didn't work. She smoked ultra lights for 50+ years and I was a 20+ year pack a day menthol smoker. Her mini ecigarettes just didn't produce enough vapor to satisfy me. I researched ecigarettes online and new about the mid size ones. Those looked like they would work but I did not know anyone who I could try it out from and I didn't want to invest $75+ on a kit from only to be disappointed.

Then I found an ecig store in our small city. He sells ego-C's almost exclusively with the liquid nicotine (the good kind. He had articles on the wall about the bad kind. VG is the good right?) in over 50 different flavors. Luckily the menthol tastes just right and gives a good throat hit.

I bought a kit but had some major issues with the plastic mouth pieces leaking the liquid no matter what I did. After 3 return trips in 10 days he gave me a clear-amizor and now I'm leak free.

Since then I've been trying desperately to stay away from regular cigarettes. It's been 2 weeks and I've run into my neighbor a few times and unfortunately been under immense stress (custody, child support, trying to move, etc) so I caved and have smoked a few cigarettes. But those few are a lot less than the pack a day I had been!!!

I have searched the forums here and I know you guys aren't doctors by any means, I am not asking for medical advice, only your experiences when I ask: what did your chest and throat feel like when (if?) you switched from cigarettes to vaping?

Last year my doctor listened to my chest and told me he heard the "beginning of emphysema" when I took a deep breath. Scared the crap out of me. Since then I have tried (unsuccessfully) several times to quit smoking. I had quit at one time years ago for 8 consecutive years using the patch to step down and stop. It did not work this time. I'm finding myself not having the urge as much to have an actual cigarette now that I am vaping. When I do cave it smells awful and the taste isn't bad but it is certainly "off".

I used to smoke more when hanging around with friends. The next day I would feel pressure on my chest and I'd feel like I was losing my voice, hoarse is the word I would use I think. I am feeling that way now even though I haven't smoked a real cigarette in a few days and I especially felt like this when if I caved those 2 times and had 1 or 2 smoked. Have any of you felt that way? Is it my lungs/airways healing or rebelling maybe? (Again, I'm only asking for experiences or opinions, not medical advice.)

My mom is telling me that its because I'm using my ecigarette more. Apparently her doctor has told her (even after 2 years of using her mini ecig) that no one knows what goes into these things and no one knows the long term effects. Her doctor wants her to quit them completely. My mom had cancer in a salivary gland 2 years ago and is now cancer free after going through surgery and chemotherapy. I don't agree with her doctor but the doctor has now implanted this information into her head and unless I can prove otherwise it will stay there. *sigh*

So anyway, I apologize for the long and rambling post. I look forward to hanging out around here!

Kim
