Hi all. I'm incredibly new to all things 'E' right now. The only thing I've ever 'vaped' has been a Veppo disposable E-cigar. I've tried both cigar 'flavors', and hated them both equally. But I liked the experience in general. I've smoked regular cigars many times, and even a pipe for awhile. Smoked cigs many years ago. I'd like to get back into the enjoyment, though. Especially not having the bad smell on the entire interior of my house, clothes, bad breath, etc. Worse, smoking stogies typically means taking a walk into an empty field with no wind in order to enjoy! And forget about smoking them in the winter because it's too COLD outside!! Ok, enough of that ;)

1) I'm looking for an inexpensive (not cheap, but reliable and not costing a small fortune) 'starter kit' for vaping. I've seen cartomizers, and would rather use separate E-juice.

2) Also wondering if there's any such thing as 'all-natural' E-juice VG liquid?

I'll need guidance for reputable stores to buy the above as well, as my only experience has been with Veppo.

Thanks all, and glad to be here.

Hi DW

I started with a Variable Voltage battery and dual bottom coil clearomiser. I bought various 'simple' kits on ebay for 15 to 20 GB pounds (so 20 to 30USD). They all had Vision Spinner Batteries (some version 1, some version 2, I prefer the earlier version myself), and came with a variety of clearos (Mini Protank 3; Protank 3; Aerotank).

Don't write off cartos though. You can buy blank cartos (eg. XL Boge 510 Low Resistance cartos) and fill them with the juice of your choice. They perform very well, and are less vulnerable to being transported in a bag or pocket. That's why I say not to write them off. If you want to use them on an Ego type battery though, make sure you don't buy the "pre-punched version".

Hello and welcome!

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping and/or looking to upgrade.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

Now for some options:

1. JoyeTech Ego-C Twist
2. Vision Spinner
3. Innokin iTaste vv v3
4. Innokin iTaste MVP v2

The first 3 are fall into the "Ego Style" of battery. They range in size from 600mah to 1300mah. The 4th one is a step up from the "Ego Style" in that it is a smaller box mod with a very big battery (2600mah) -- will last many vapers a whole day before it needs recharging. It is probably one of the most popular batteries for someone upgrading from an "Ego Style" battery. Some vapers choose to buy one "Ego style" battery as a backup and also purchase the MVP for their main battery.

You will need to purchase a tank (the juice attachment) with the first three on the above list. The mini Aerotank or regular size Aerotank (both made of glass) are very popular. The MVP comes with a tank but it is not glass.

Read all the links, google some of the batteries, and once you have narrowed down the field, we will be able to give you websites where you can get the product.

Hi, I too am new to Vaping,(only 4 month+few days) But I have a treasure trove of gadgets I've tried and my advice is this. Get the best simple style ego/evod etc 1100-1300 variable voltage battery for the best price you can find, also get yourself a get by battery small like 650ma be sure to get one with a charger that also has a wall plug adapter included. Get more than one cartomizer, I recommend the GS-H2 bottom replaceable coil carto. This has great vapor, great taste and is cheap to replace the coils on (comes in 7 colors). Then take your rig and find the closest Vapery or e juice retailer with a store in your area make sure they let you try their products. Spend some time in the store and try anything that sounds interesting (take a lg bottle of water with you to drink between flavors). Pick 1 or 2 flavors in small sz bottles to vape over a weeks time to see if you still like them and if you do, go back and get a larger bottle and try other flavors while you are there. over several months stick to what you have until you are sure you will Vape exclusively and then branch out on your equipment. Keep it cheap and simple to start. Keep on Vaping on :)

Susan-S gave you some great links and advice. Check it all out so you can make an informed opinion and get what you want. The best clearomizers I've tried are the Bottom Coil Clearomizers (BCC). I get them really cheap at Discount Vapers using their DV Brand. Here's the link to the page and look at the DV bcc's: DV BCC Clearomizer . I'm trying the ADV bcc's and don't really know if I care for them that's why I recommend the other. There are replacement coils for them and they can be rebuilt once you're ready for it.

Wow. Ok, I've read so much that my eyes are practically bleeding! lol The amount of information/product out there is positively DAUNTING. I think I'm interested in the following:

Ego-type battery, probably 1000mah? Some people say the Spinner is better than the Twist...and vice versa. Quite frankly, I don't care which if it saves me some money over the other. Not sure I have to worry about variable voltage just starting out.

As far as tanks...I like the narrow tanks that are clear with ML markings on the side. I don't like the fat tanks. I also don't like the tanks which are solid, with just a narrow clear slit down the side. Prefer glass over plastic for obvious reasons. Vision Ego Clearomizer 2.0 is close to what I'm looking for...except I'd like a BCC. Definitely would like to be able to change out the coil if/when necessary. I also seriously liked what I saw and read about a Kanger T3s Rebuildable Clearomizer - 2.5ohms (I don't understand the different 'ohms' for different clearomizers, though). I also see that the Kanger T3 Clearomizer is plastic...and I'm looking for glass.

ETA: just found a Kanger eVod Glass clearomizer...which is extremely attractive (except it has only a slit in the side to see inside...but I could probably live with it). Looks like it's only recommended to be used on "new Twist style, Ego-T, and EVOD style Ego batteries of 900mah or higher". Ok...so I guess I'm looking in that area now, lol! Price is (as mentioned above) a factor.

Saw something that was pretty attractive on an online shop (of course, can't post link). It was a starter kit of CE4+ 6-in-1 USB Rechargeable 1300mAh E-Cigarettes Set. Looked ok. Website was Fasttech. A fatter/longer battery wouldn't hurt. Doesn't look like the tank on the top of the one in that set is BCC, though. Something that STYLE, though...not that particular item.

I think that gives me a starting point...except I haven't even started reading about e-juice yet :/ I'll probably be preferring a VG-based juice. Still don't know if anyone makes some kind of 'all natural' e-juice...as opposed to ones that are artificially flavored??

So I'm hoping that gives me enough information to move forward. I am looking for something relatively inexpensive since I'm just starting out and getting my feet wet ($30 area would be nice not to break). Thanks everyone for your advice.

veriable voltage is nice so you can customize your vape - if you want more heat or throat hit and such you don't have to go out and buy lower resistance coils.

lower resistance coils will heat up quicker giving you a warmer vape with less volts.

EVODs where good a year ago when I was using them - good flavor, low profile etc.

As far as natural juice, those made with NETs are about as natural as you will get i think. (Natural Extracts) - i'm not super familiar with these so someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

One thing I wanted to note - Vaping is not considered "safe." there is still a lot unknown about the health risks associated to it.. one thing is obvious though, it is MUCH healthier than taking all the toxins that go along with the processing of tobacco leafs.

I hope this helps!

Hi Deuces, welcome! The Kanger T3S was my first "real" tank, and it really is a good one, for the price, and replacement coils are also very inexpensive. The ml markings are *really* good for first starting, and you can use anything in it except for citrus, cinnamon redhot, corrosive ejuices like that. For those I would recommend the kanger Mini Protank II, or 2... it's also inexpensive, with inexpensive replacement coils, and it's glass. You really need to have more than one tank anyway, and both of those are decent and very inexpensive as well as inexpensive to maintain. Also later, you can actually rebuild the coils for both of those quite easily, and save money there. They're an excellent starting point, and give a decent vape.

There are some juice vendors that claim to have organic e liquid, the only one I can think of now is Velvet Cloud Vapor.
Velvet Cloud Vapor - Organic and Natural All VG E-Liquid from San Francisco

If you're addicted to nicotine, I would suggest you get a device that has a pass through feature, so you can vape while your device is plugged in to a charger, but the charger is a micro usb cable which is more reliable than a dongle charger and can easily be replaced.

Try Virgin Vapor, they make 100% VG natural flavor e juices. Can't say if they are good myself but have heard alot of good reviews from others. As for glass tanks I have a Davide Mini and I love it for flavor and cloud is thin (not for chasers). Its only draw back is it is tricky to fill without a needle tip bottle. Hope you find just the right set up to make you happy. Keep on Vaping on :)

I tried vergin vapor at an event. It wasn't really for me. Take that with a grain of salt though, as with anyone commenting on juice flavors - taste is VERY subjective, everyones brain "tastes" the juice differently.

Ok. So far here's where I THINK I'm at:

Kanger eVod Glass (dual coil)
Kanger mini Protank-3 clearomizer (dual coil)
Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 1000mAh Battery

Haven't really given any thought to colors yet, but that should be enough to seek out prices. Can't really afford any 'extras' at this point. Really making sure I'm happy with this starting point. If there's anything incompatible or just plain dumb in my selections, please don't hesitate to point them out!

As far as E-juice, I'll probably get samplers from the sites listed by the couple few members above.

Obviously, I'll need recommendations on the cheapest/most reputable places to purchase the above hardware at, please! Thanks

if you're going with an eGo style, you may not want dual coils; they will drain the battery much faster. The protank 2 is a single coil. Most people use duals on mods that have removable batteries, or on something like an MVP2 that's 2600 mAh. Because the lower the ohms (the coil's resistance) the higher the amp drain on the battery, which drains it much faster. duals nearly always have much lower resistance because the resistance is halved -- if the 2 coils are each 3 ohms, the cumulative resistance is 1.5 ohms, and that will drain a battery pretty fast, especially one that's only 1000 mAh.

Ah! Glad I checked here again! Ok, so dual coils are out. So opinions on the following, please:

Kanger ProTank 2
Kanger Mini ProTank 2
Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 1000mAh Battery

Couldn't find any other glass clearomizers that are inexpensive (unless I've completely overlooked some). So for a starter, how is the above lineup looking? Trying to keep it VERY simple and as inexpensive as humanly possible....

That appears to be a pretty solid lineup; variable is great, 1000mah is fair, and I know for a fact that the mini PT II is an excellent little tank; I don't have the larger version, but I've heard it's solid. If you can find an ejuice that really suits, I think that's an excellent suite of tools. Those 2 tanks use the same coils, which you can get replacements for very cheaply at discountvapers.com -- $5.96/5pk I think, last I ordered them. Later if you want to, they're also not difficult to rebuild, and they're popular, so it's easy to find directions and tutorials for those particular coils.

Excellent! Thanks so much, Andria :) Do you have suggestions for online shops with low prices on my picks? I see you mention discountvapers.com. Is there one (or more) that's just outstanding in prices and customer service?
