Hello everyone, just started vaping about 3 weeks ago. I started off with an NJOY, and a Clayton brand e-cig. Arkansas (to my knowledge does not have a single ecig shop that carries anything more than Nicstick liquid as well) So, I did what I could for the start. Now 2 weeks later, I have my Ego-C starter kit with the 1000 mah batteries, clearomizers, cartomizers and atomizers, and a large assortment of e-liquids (small 10ml sizes) while I figure out what works best for me. NJOY's and Clayton's in the drawer as a back-up for hard times... really hard times.
....
I have smoked cigarettes since I was 16 years old (26 year analog smoker) as of now, I'm 43. I am married and have 2 boys: 11 and 9 yrs old. A friend of mine at work was diagnosed with some blockage around his heart and the doctor told him to put down the cigarettes and get an e-cig, or else.... so he did. He showed it to me 3 weeks ago and the proverbial light bulb went off in my head... I have an addictive personality I suppose. So when I get into something, I go for broke. Usually this is probably a bad trait, but in this particular instance it seems to be one of the smartest things I've stumbled upon / done in a looooong time.
I grew up in a house full of smokers (as I'm sure a lot of you did too) so needless to say I became a smoker. One of the reasons for picking up the e-cig is to become a full fledged ex-smoker. One big reason is for my health, and the other reason is for those around me, I would hate myself if I were the reason my kids started smoking. I want to be a good example, and that's what brought me to you fine people. So any help and encouragement is most appreciated. I will hopefully in turn, be able to return the favor down the road when I become an expert vaper/ex-smoker, and pass along what I have learned from you guys to someone new, and save a life or two along the way. So my motives for info are both selfish and selfless at the same time! Sweet...
After I picked up my first e-cigs mentioned above, I cut down from about 2 packs per day, to under a pack per day. Now that I have the Ego-C, I am down to between 4 and 6 analogs per day. (except for Saturday I had 9 analogs, as well as 2 Yeager bombs, and 2 pitchers of beer, so I didn't think that was too bad). So far today, I have only had 1. Yaaah! My goal is to be completely quit by New Years day 2013. Fingers crossed!
Some big topics on my agenda are as follows (and I think they might be pretty common and addressed already, but)..
* Best e-juice to emulate a real cigarette.
* PG versus VG.
* Mixing my own flavors using liquid nicotine. (I bought 24mg, but my preference at the moment is 18 mg e-juice).
* Best method to keep cost down, but get the best quality of Vape, so far I am digging the clearomizers, but have heard a lot of negatives about leaking, etc.) But I really like them so far the best...
* Cleaning, maintenance, and how to tell when something is going bad hardware wise).
* Find the best websites to purchase stuff.
* LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Meet some really cool folks that have the same goals as me! Hopefully there are some friends to be made along the way on our journey together!
In a nutshell, I don't know crud from Shinola when it comes to vaping, but I am here to learn. Honestly I don't know when I've been more excited about something than I am this, and I hope to be able to keep it up. Lord knows I sure did with the analogs. And I feel a new lease on life with this newly discovered alternative, that can help me become a better dad, husband, and make me smell/feel/look better as well while I vape my way into a very ripe old age.
Thanks for having me, I feel much better!
