Hello from California!

So I found this forum shortly AFTER I received my first starter kit. It's been 4 days now and I have to say I have no desire for anything but my e-cig, which is WONDERFUL! I've been a smoker for 20 years and I knew it was just time to get off of them. I kinda wish I'd discovered you guys first though because I did end up going with Green Smoke, though I have to say right now I love it. The only problem I have is that since it looks so much like a cigarette that I get a lot of "looks" from people about where I am with it. I'm in California which is like the antismoking capital of the world. I got several prefilled cartomizers of various flavors and whatnot with my kit and I really want to make sure I use everything I already have before venturing out into other areas.

What I'm trying to figure out is whether or not there's another battery out there besides the ones on their website that would compatible with the cartomizers I already have and won't necessarily cost an arm and a leg AND will be chargeable with the stuff I got already with my starter kit. (Run on sentence much..?)

I kinda jumped into vaping with both feet and I gotta say I'm in love, and I probably will experiment with some of the other stuff I've been reading about on this forum, but for now I gotta justify what I've put into it so far with my still smoking husband :)

Thanks in advance!

The Green Smoke is a KR808-D2 which is also known as an E9. You can use any KR808-D2 cartomizer on it. You should note that there is a KR808-D1 type cartomizer as well. It is much more popular than the D2, but is incompatible with the Green Smoke. You can probably find a D2 to D1 adapter somewhere that will let you use them though.

For the record, Green Smoke has a 30 day return policy which they do honor. My first PV was a Green Smoke. I returned it after a week for a full refund, and bought an eGo.

Welcome, I just started last Fri. with a V2 I really like it. Have only taken 2 drags off a real cig since then. I cant beleive how nasty a real cig tastes. I really like the battery life of the V2 standard auto. Mine has never gone dead totally as i just toss it the charger when I have a chance. Do have a spare manual on the way just to check it out. Basically Im just doing this as a way to quit smoking all together. Ive been a smoker for 40 yrs. and luckily high blood pressure is my only problem, which Doc said i could greatly reduce if I give up smoking. Give the hubby a couple drags and maybe hell want to try also. My girlfreind is ready to order up a starter kit and give it a shot. Good luck and happy vapeing.......

I liked Biffrocko's response!

The connection (the threading) is the key to being able to use your gear with other brands---and it is always recommended to use the Branded charger, to be certain it will work properly.

The 808D1 is very popular and pv's like the Volt and Vapor4life products have great colors and some larger (longer between charges) batteries. Many find we like color and longer battery life, pretty quickly. We don't Really want it to look like a cig..

That said, I did upgrade to an Ego (fatter battery) very quickly. I like the company Cignot and genuine JoyE products. These connections are 510. Many many styles of APV's use 510 connections.

Welcome to ecf!!! I am also from CA! I was lucky I purchased green smoke and returned it right away once I found this site! What part of CA are you from? If you are anywhere near the OC check out e-cig city you will love it there Jason is awesome.. Also if you live near Los Angeles stay away from the vapor spot.. Its overpriced

I do have to say I like the feel of the 808D2... But I do want some color so that the nicotine police don't jump all over me everytime I have it out! My first cartomizer just ran out last night and I'm working on my second one now. And as for battery life, I got three batteries with my starter kit and basically have a rotation of two with me one on the charger and I'm not having any issues with that. I also had bought extra cartomizers in different flavors and at the rate I'm going have enough to last about 6 weeks or maybe more..

I think I might use the stuff I already have, and when that gets low look around and maybe get a D1 with more options and pass this kit on to someone else. If I stick with Vaping for a month I've basically still spent less on this than with regular cigarettes (I did a spreadsheet) and maybe I'll just pass this kit along to one of my friends who have been eyeing it thinking about making a jump.

I'm actually really REALLY pleased with the product overall.. I can't believe I like it though. A friend of mine had a Blu kit about two years ago and I wasn't impressed. I've just kind of had it with smoking and needed something to make me take the step. Patches didn't work, gum didn't work, Chantix, Wellbutrin, you name it, didn't work. I can now say I haven't had a cigarette in 4 days.. which is amazing, and I'm simply not turning back :)

Can someone tell me something though? Flavors like Vanilla, Chocolate, Coffee etc. Are those available in California? I know Green Smoke won't ship them here and I was wondering if that was because of the same state Law that prohibits clove cigarettes?

I'm actually a Nor-Cal girl.. Looking around to see if there is any place around my area that sells stuff that doesn't involve a trip across the bridges :)

Acacia, I also started with Greensmoke (KR808d-2, E9). If you want to continue to use a cig-like battery and transition to the KR808d-1 (a zillion more choices), you can buy adapters here to help you make the transition without "wasting" the d-2's: LeCig Electronic CIgarette Store - Adapters
I would get both the d-2 to d-1 and d-1 to d-2 adapters so you can use either configuration of carto and battery.

Acacia, if your in the east bay, there's a place in Berkley, it's called the Vapor Den. Or if you live on the peninsula there's one in Redwood City called ItisVapor.

Do you know of anywhere on the east side of the bridges? I'm actually in the Napa/Solano area up here, and have been looking around to no avail..

No, it has nothing to do with the state law, but there are other factors at play in California.
I can assure you that you can get tons of flavors from lots of vendors in California though, just apparently not from Green Smoke.

You should read this thread...

Acacia -

There is no law that prohibits the sale of flavored e joose. However, the State Attorney General recently forced some California vendors to stop selling the flavors through intimidation. There was not legal basis for it, but they did not have the resources to fight the state alone. There are lots of vendors who can and do sell any flavor you want, and ship to California without any problem. We all have our favorites, or we diy (do it yourself, blend your own e joose). If you are in the Orange County area, I will also recommend e-cig city in Laguna Beach. Jason and Aaron are great, and you can try any flavor you like.

Welcome to ecf!

By the way, the thread linked above is quite long, although it's worth reading the whole thing.

But if you want the get to the meat and bones, here it is...

Thank you for your follow up email. Please advise your colleagues that our office has no quarrel with electronic cigarette companies that wish to sell flavored products and are willing to age restrict their website to adults. If the site is actually restricted to adults we do not need to concern ourselves as much with the marketing. Perhaps understanding that option that we suggest to companies that wish to sell flavors to adult consumers will satisfy your concerns.

Sincerely yours, Jeanne Finberg

The only one I've found in the north bay, is Digital Ciggs in Santa Rosa. I know it's a bit of a drive, but I think it would be worth it. If you go on Friday the 20th of April, they're hosting the 3rd Annual Northern California Vapers Meet Up, from 7 to midnight.

You can find empty D2 (or D1 and use an adapter) cartos and fill them with whatever flavor you want. It's been a while since I ordered anything but my daily vape, but prior to that I've never had any problem getting any flavor shipped to CA.

KR808D-2 or GreenSmoke compatible blank cartomizer - package of five
