Gotcha. Adding “without drill” on yt search cleared that up. Next up is a twisted coil build for my ammit 25, for sure. So much to learn. So much to enjoy! Thanks.... again. (I’m going to do a word count on thanks in this thread, should be an astonishing number!!!)
You might try a parallel coil too, maybe a 4 wrap to start, very easy to wrap. The twisted will be springy but torching the wire after twisting before wrapping takes care of that. All you need is a lighter.:D

Guess you can't buy Everclear..
Use Vodka because:
Denatured alcohol, also called methylated spirit (methylated spirits in Australia and New Zealand) or denatured rectified spirit, is ethanol that has additives to make it poisonous, bad-tasting, foul-smelling, or nauseating to discourage recreational consumption. It is sometimes dyed.

Managed to do a twisted coil. Man, your hands get sore twisting that pen. I had to restart twice because I gave in to the pain and the wire slacked and twisted !! Was a fun time. Finally got one good coil, managed to make a 5 wrap .6 ohm coil (yay!!!) and installed it into the deck of the ammit 25 and removed hot spots and got it glowing evenly. One thing I forgot completely was the lighter step - would this glowing it to remove hot spots step compensate for that? Else I got to start afresh :(
But the biggest problem - I cannot for the life of me open the top cap of the ammit 25. It is wedged in so tight, I wanted to replace the 2ml with the 5ml glass too but none of that seems doable. Only the deck came away easily everything else is so tight :(
It is in the freezer right now, fingers crossed but I am not too hopeful !! Any advice would be very helpful here!

Also need to research what parallel coils are!!

@HazyShades
Thanks for the poison warning !
Will get some vodka but hot water is what I am doing right now. Just let is soak overnight too, seems to do the job for now :)

Torching the wire is just to remove springiness. Spaced coils are much easier to get an even glow on btw.

Take the base off Ammit and push up the chimney from inside to remove glass tube. When you get the topcap loose don't over tighten again. This was my biggest problem when starting out, over tightened everything from attys to juice caps.

No luck at all. I put some cloth in and tried pushing with my pliers, its not even budging !! Damn, an anti climax :D
Is it actually possible to push the chimney up without removing the top cap? I ask because it is not even budging. Sorry for the chain replies, just a wee frustrated :)

UPDATE:
There is a saying in my native language that roughly translates to "Nothing helps like a little bit of violence" !!! And that is what I wrought upon the Ammit 25. Grasped the top cap with the coil master needle nose and finally managed to get it open !! Dear lord, that was a grueling half hour :D
No more tightening for the ammit, I am going to leave it as loose as I can :D

If (when) it happens again a few rubber bands on the glass helps with grip.:D

So it is a question of when eh?!?!
Leaving everything loose, I had a major leakage at the bottom. Tightened everything and no more leakage but I am getting super spit back, burnt tongue truly this time. Is that only because of bad wicking? Or could it be just that it is 2 AM out here?!?! :D
Will clean the whole damn tank and rewick tomorrow, then let you know my ammit 25 proclamations :D

Did you adjust watts for new coil?

Yeah, entered a resistance of .63 ohms on steam engine and a cool vape was around 11 W
But that produced very less vapour. 20 W was doing good but was getting quite hot.
Settled at around 15W but vapour and flavour is fairly muted.
But there is spit back at all wattages. :(
One other thing, towards the end my cylon batteries died out. Could that also add to my poor experience?

Your batteries didn't die per se. Regulated devices have a built in cut off when the batteries reach low voltage levels. Once your battery monitor is showing 1/3-1/4 full you should trade them out for a fresh pair. Best to let batteries rest a couple hours before and after changing. Your wick was likely the culprit for the spit back. Wicking is easily the most difficult thing to master with rtas. Just rewick and only change one thing at a time.

I have some good news to report :)
After having watched at least 10 videos on YT about the ammit 25 et al (reviews which had wicking, exclusive wicking, general wicking !!) I managed to distill down some common denominators applied by all. I then proceeded onto completely disassembling my ammit 25, cleaning it all (just wipes, no water!) and then re-wicking !! And lo behold, no leaks. Today morning I discovered that the ammit had actually leaked onto my 510 connection as well. Right now, after around half hour of usage, there are no leaks from the air flow nor is there any leaks onto the mod. All is well and to best it all, my blueberry mojito has never tasted this good. Damn, that flavour was good.

I was even able to vape at 50W, almost hot but still good !! How much is too much when it comes to pushing the watts? Though I am still getting the occasional spit back, I wonder why is that?????

Twisted coil + good wicking = sub ohm vaping with loads of vapour and flavour !!
Mesa is a happy dude now :)
Thanks for all the help as always!
Next up in my agenda is parallel coils for my Intake. Good times, good times :)
I hope I have not spoken too soon and jinxed it all :D

If you are drawing too hard when you hit it you maybe just pulling too much juice into the wick. Trial and error.
Watts are too high when you aren't getting a hit you enjoy.;)
Love hearing you are having success, it keeps getting better the more you learn.

Parallel build is a good vape, think you'll like it. Easier than twisted imo. We'll have you making clapton wire in no time.:party:

Thanks, each time something good happens, it feels good !
And no jinx yet, the ammit is holding the juice steadfast, no leaks !
I was just going to ask you if I should buy some prebuilt fused claptons and there you go answering it with another DIY operation. I am up for any DIY task given that I have the amazing support out here :)

Order the coils and settle in for a while first. You will need tools down the road but for now just see if you even like multi wire coils. Many are happier with single wire builds. For myself if I had to stick with one type it would be tri core fused clapton wire.

Also ordered an extra pair of batteries, some cotton bacon, coil master v3 diy, a1 kanthal.
Try using the TC mode (if your mod has one). That'll keep you from overpowering your selfmade coil.
If I'm not mistaken, K is using kanthal wire presently. Kanthal is not compatable for TC mode.
