Howdy from North Texas!

Just started vaping and I've been looking for the "Toyota Corolla" of e-cigs. Cheap to purchase, cheap to run, cheap to maintain, and can run all day without messing with it. Maybe I should call it the Holy Grail of e-cigs. I've been smoking a pack a day since 1972 and need to find something that's not only healthier, but much cheaper too (the main reason).

I've been reading a bit on other sites, and I'm totally bewildered by the different choices in batteries, atomizers, cartomizers, clearomizers, clones vs. the real things, voltages, etc. Much of the information and "unbiased" reviews also seem to be by advertisers and others with an agenda. The only experience I have is an old V2 cig and some atomizers that a former girlfriend gave me awhile back. No instructions or anything. I recently visited a local vape shop (Dragonfly) and got some drip tips and an atomizer to use with them that would fit my battery. Its closer to what I want, but I hate having to top if off every hour or so. I've taken to dripping about 3 drops directly into the atty when I do this, and it gets me closer to the vape experience I want, but it doesn't last long.

I finally got impulsive today and pulled the trigger on the C4 Clearomizer Kit from BetterVapes. Two 1100mAh batteries, two clearomizers, charger with wall adapter, plus I got a 30ml vial of Spearmint e-liquid all for about the price of a carton of analogs. It uses an eGo-T battery (at least it's labled as one...hard to see the logo in the stainless version I got) and a clear tank.

I know I should have asked about it on here first, before ordering it, but I didn't discover this forum until just afterwards. Augh!! Anyway, does anyone have any experience or opinions about this kit? Did I do good, or just screw up and throw away what little money I have? Any maintenance tips on a setup like this would be appreciated too.

That is basically the same setup I use except I use the Vision Stardust clearomizers, which are pretty similar. I've been off smokes for over 2 months now and vaping along happily. I added a few batteries to my collection for backup, some atomizers for driping, and more clearomizers and spare heads, and I've acquired a large collection of juices to keep me interested. A little bit overkill, but I don't want to go back to smokes so I wanted to make sure I had enough stuff

Anyway, I think you did well. If you're not smoking and more importantly, not caring about smoking anymore, then that's all that matters. And, welcome to ECF, there's lots of info here.

Thanks for the welcome (you too, Kremppie), but I don't plan on getting lots of stuff to go with it. Money is REALLY tight right now, and I'm doing this mainly for economic reasons. The health benefit is just the icing on the cake. This was kind of a "I've got one shot at this...it better be right" kind of thing.

I'm wondering about something you said, however. You said you got some atomizers for dripping? Isn't that what the clearomizers are supposed to do? Let the e-liquid directly contact the atomizer without having to use/burn the polyfill stuff? Or did I get it wrong and the clearomizers have the polyfill stuff too? I thought it was just a tank that held the liquid and let a bit of it drip onto the atomizer as you used it.

To be honest similar to what my hubby and I tried thou we only got one a piece, much better be to start off with two! Try them out for a while and see how they do. There are always going to be upgrades as the technology is changing on a daily basis. Just keep Vaping

hey krumbum, clearomizers use a wick to get juice to the coil some compare it to dripping in terms of flavour and throat hit some are better than others but from what i have heard the set up you got should be good for you i know $$$ money is tight right now i am in the same boat so stick with it all us on ecf look out for one another... good luck and god bless...

Ok here is the world according to a fella from H-town

Never understood the whole "it compares to dripping" mentality. If it is almost the same then why play and why not do the deed of dripping. I have a Reo Grand from reomods.com it has a atomizer on it and a bottle inside it I squeeze the bottle and up comes the juice and I vape away...

The atomizer cost me 3.00 and last for 3-4 weeks. In terms of maintaining cost it can't be beat. in terms of purchase price it can as it is close to 175 or so. But there is a thread on here about OldGoat bottom feeders if you search for it you can get one of his for 20 or so toss in a couple 3000mah 18650 batteries and your set for under 50 bucks. And there really is NOTHING easier to maintain than a bottom feeder. The 3000mah batteries will last all day long. I get up in the morning change the batt fill the bottle and I am set for the day.

Just started here a few months ago krumbum and totally get the money thing. Now I'm addicted to diy and can see how this can get out of hand. Still cheaper than smoking the cigs and I don't stink! YAY!

I got 500ml 48mg nic juice and 500ml virgin VG mixed together for something like 55.00 and I vape 5 ml a day for a cost of .28 a day and a buck a week for a atomizer comes out to around 3.00 a week not including any flavoring for the juice.

Get you a ford support America. Provari is the F350 King Ranch of Mods. as in most things you get what you pay for. There are a number of chinese mods that are ok any Lava tube will get you there.

That's why this is so confusing for me... for every good review I see on something, I see a bad one. It seems to be up to not only personal preference, but also user technique. Can't wait to try it out.

Cartomizers have the polyfill stuff that holds liquid, the atomizer wicks from the cartomizer to produce vapor. They can be one unit, disposable, prefilled cartomizers which I don't use. I use the separate cartomizer/atomizer units to drip liquids. I also pull the polyfill out of the cartomizer, mainly just using the plastic shell as a drip tip on my atomizer so that I'm not putting the hot atomizer to my lips. I just pull this cartomizer shell off and drip liquid directly to my atomizer. This method is good for only 5-10 puffs, so I generally use this only at home and I do it with liquids that I don't want to vape all day in a clearomizer. I have some liquids I like now and then, but they're generally more of a novelty type flavor. Hope that helps.

Ok Clint, that makes sense. Like I said, I'm new at this and I guess I'm dripping now. I was looking for something that would continue to hit like the first 5 or 10 hits do when I top off the drip tips, and drip juice directly onto the atomizer. I'm hoping that the clearomizer will do that. We'll see. Thanks!

That Reo Mini looks interesting. Since the main purpose of me going with e-cigs vs. analogs is the cost factor, I'll have to wait and see how the clearomizers work first. You've given me a new direction to look at, however. Thanks!
