Hello all,

I drip quite a bit at home, and almost always over-drip. I'm expecting my 5V GLV2 in a day or so, and I really don't want to take any chances in juice leaking into the connector piece, as I've done with every other ecig owned, lol. I was told to get a drip-shield (which requires a 510 adapter), but I'm curious if getting this adapter alone would help: V2 510 Shorty Extension . There is also this one, which I believe is the same thing, just sealed: V2 510 Shorty Extension Sealed . Or, is there a better one out there somewhere? Would these also help out with using cartomizers, map-tanks? And would they be "drip-shield" compatible if I decide to purchase one of those in the future? Would an adapter help out the GLV2 in any other way? I'm leaning toward getting the sealed one, as I'm thinking it would be much more difficult for juice to seep through...heck, I'm just confused on this issue. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated! Sooo excited to be getting this fine mod!

Still a bit confused, but definitely getting a drip-shield...was thinking about adding this 510 adapter to the order: 510-510 Adapter (Sealed) , as it would work with the drip-shield. However, the adapter is sealed, not sure if that's bad or good? I'm getting the 510 5v GLV2. Any input would still be greatly appreciated, thx :)

I've only ever used an adapter when it was necessary i.e.: to connect a 901 atty to a 510 device but I do see the value and benefit of using a 510 to 510 as an extender for aesthetics.

I looked at the sealed adapter linked in the above post and it appears to have air vents at the top so the fact that it's sealed shouldn't create any problems. The GLV connections are already sealed to prevent the batteries from getting "juicy". As long as you don't intend to use it on a bottom feeder, it should work nicely.

The other great thing about extenders and drip-shields is that somebody is always looking for one in the classifieds forum so if it's not working for you, you can always offer it response to a WTB (want to buy) post or list it yourself in a FS (for sale) post.

There are probably others with much more dripping expertise than I but based on my own somewhat limited dripping experience, You shouldn't have a problem with the sealed adapter and drip shield.

There is a problem with using a sealed adapter in the GLV's. If you look at the connection there is a point on it. If you use a sealed connector/extension it won't sit right on the GLV. If the connector/extension is not sealed it will have a hole which will allow it to seat properly on the GLV. You know what I mean?

Thanks for the reply...I've got about 2 hours until the postman gets here with the GLV2...however, I already ordered the sealed adapter and a drip-shield from empiremods a few days ago...so, I guess I'll find out tomorrow how the adapter works/ or doesn't work out...it's all good though...just excited to get the device at this point. Do you use an adapter, if so, which one? link? thx

Got the "candy-red sparkle" GLV2 in my hands now!! Really didn't want to wait for the batts to fully charge! Put a dual-coil on it and fired away! (Vermillion River Applewood Juice)....In vaping heaven right now...will post some pics soon with the drip shield on it...hope the adapter works out, but if not, no biggie at this point :)

Sorry to go grave digging but I did not see this topic before when researching the GLV at first and this would probably be a great thread to STICKY (to save another noob like me some pain).

To reiterate the point, do not use SEALED ADAPTERS on the GLV.
I probably spent the good part of two days troubleshooting my GLV mini that had been having poor taste, weak performance and finally tonight, failures to fire (thank God I had a spare mod to save me from going back to analogs).

Anyways I did not post this to whine but to serve a public service message so other forumites don't go through the same hair pulling exercise I went through : ). Learn from my pain.

In short I have been having trouble with my GLV the past few days - Thank goodness I did not resort to messing with the adjustable atomizer pin which could have compounded the problem with a potential short if I went straight attie connection.

I had been using a SEALED adapter on my GLV. The bottom of which looks like a flathead screw head "=" with two bars, similar to an unsealed adapter but without a center hole. (I see that there are other SOLID BOTTOM stud designs for sealed adapters out there too). Since the GLV has a center pin that connects to the attie, it split/parted the "=" bars sidewards which weakened the connection, until finally the connection became unreliable.

I cleaned atties repeatedly, used new atties, and even cleaned the GLV connections (it is setting out to dry now so I'll wait until I try to fire it up again). Hell I was ready to pour chicken blood on the mod and pray to Mayan deities.

I think the center pin is undamaged, so hopefully my lesson learn only cost me a $5 adapter and some gray hair. Still it helped me understand how this mod works.

I hope this info helps you NOT make the same mistake I did.
Anyways.. carry on. :D
