Hi everyone, I am hoping for some help here. I am new to this but for the first time ever i realy thought i can do this finaly quit smoking for good. I like my e cig I have the VOLT, only prob I am wheezing so bad when i use it. I have tried 100% VG bought e juice from 4 different vendors, having samples from dark to light. I bought organic e juice tried pre filled carto's; to buying emptys and filling myself. I am at a loss I realy want this to work for me I enjoy the e cig and like the ideal of different flavors and all. However I do need to be able to breath and don't get why this is happening at all. I don't have this with reg cigs have never had breathing issues. If anyone can clue me in on what they think might be going on or if u too have had this issue please help I just can't fig this one out on my own.

Oh wow, sorry to hear what's happening to you. I'm not sure why your having these problems. Some people are either allergic to VG or PG. I would highly suggest you get to 5 posts (welcome other new members). After an hour you can make a thread here:

Health, Safety and E-Smoking

I'm sure someone will know the answer there. Also, you might want to drink a lot of water too. Since vaping dehydrates a person more then smoking does. Not an expert about this and really don't know how to explain it properly. But, vapor partly comes from you when you vape. So, you have to hydrate yourself as much as possible.

Possibly VG is causing you this trouble. Get some plain PG and try to vape that by itself to see if it makes you wheeze. Are you doing the direct lung inhale? If so try to just drag the vapor into your mouth first, then inhale into your lungs.

Ditto that about holding the vapor in your mouth first... then as you inhale, allow some air to mix in with it. Notice how it feels, and if it begins to feel uncomfortable go ahead & gently exhale it, hopefully before it can cause a coughing attack. I have read on here that most of the nicotine absorption when vaping occurs in the mouth, nose & throat, so we don't need to inhale as deeply as we did when smoking to get our nic fix. This takes a little getting used to, and the habit of deep inhalation is hard to break. Just try to keep the difference in mind as you vape & you'll probably get used to it pretty quickly.

I agree, post in the Health forum and see what other members say. I started vaping 1 1/2 months ago and had horrible asthma before I quit the analogs. I had a little trouble the first couple of days switching from analogs because I tried to inhale like I would if I was smoking. Once I started taking the vapor into my mouth, then a few seconds later into my lungs, I did fine. I am now off my asthma inhaler and my lungs feel great! I just had knee surgery and several docs said my lungs sounded great, didn't even sound like someone who has smoked and my chest x-ray looked really good, compared to my previous one a few years ago.

I really hope vaping works out for you! Hang in there!

Tacoma Wa,
Yeah when i smoked, my wife complained all the time about me wheezing.
And when i weened of smokes,it got worse.. and i thought it was from vaping.
But after i fully quit smoking and only vaped it went away fully after a few weeks.
And after 5 months, I haven't wheezed once.. not even during a cold.

I would consult your doctor.

It is most likely just your lungs cleaning themselves of tar and poisons but you can never be too careful. When you smoke it paralyzes your cilia (little hair like "cleaners" of the lungs) then destroys them as soon as you quit smoking they begin to grow back and start doing their jobs again. When we see the "stuff" we cough up that was stuck in there for years it is a wake up call like no other on just how bad smoking is and we realize it was never "not going to affect ME" we see it IS affecting us- not just "the other guy"

You stated you went to 100% VG...hmmm...did you know that majority of flavorings are PG based? You might try some juice from cloudsofvapor.com. Bruce, the owner, has a bad pg allergy and his are 100% VG. Also contact Annette at Virgin Vapor | Electronic Cigarette Organic e-Liquid | Electronic Cigarettes and see what her flavoring base is...I'm pretty sure she can accommodate you also.

I seem to recall this happening to me when i quite analogs too and it went away within a week or so. No scientific evidence behind this but my theory is that now that your lungs aren't being bombarded with tar it is getting loosened up and causing the wheezing.

This has been my experience as well. It has since gone away. Might not hurt to talk to a Doc like JimBob suggests, either. Better to take any breathing abnormality seriously until you know exactly what's causing it.

Welcome to the forums, BTW! Good to have you. If there's an answer, it'll be found somewhere around here! Good folks here, and always willing to help.

I am sooo happy i posted on this site, I was feeling so down I realy want this to work for me. I am using every bite of information you all share with me. I have been paying attention to how i inhale, will try the 100%PG and drinking more water. I relized this morning that when i woke up my chest was fine no sounds coming from it at all. However as soon as i used my e cig I felt my chest getting tight and congested heard wheezing this went away after about 30 min once i stoped using the e cig. It has to be something in the juice or maybe the water vapor. Not giving up thou have not bought any real cigs at all hoping that each day things will get better and will keep switching things up to see if i can fig out what is making this happen. I thank each one of you for taking the time to share your thoughts and giving me hope.

I ordered some juice from virgin vapor no change. I had read on this site about the PG/VG thats where i got the ideal to try all VG and see if that was what it was. Do you think maybe the device I am using could be the reason..I have a VOLT I like the fact that it feels like a real cig and is about the same size but maybe its not hot enough or something making the vapor to wet for my lungs..I am just grasping here I would hate to think I am the one human that can't use the e cig..lol

Do you have any allergies like food allergies? Someone here had a reaction to a flavor in their juice.
