Hello. I'm new to vaping, and have some questions

Hi there. I'm new to vaping. I tried it a year ago, but found it a little difficult, but now I'm going to try again today. A year ago, my e-cig leaked out while I was inhaling, and it scared me which is why I gave it up. But today, I'm giving it another go, and I'll remain calm if it leaks again.

What brought me to this page is from google. I was searching to see if anyone else gets a wierd "buzz" from using e-cigs. I've seen a thread on here with someone who described the feeling very well.

I bought a cheap high-roller ecig for starters, and I'm wondering when to change the cartomizer.

So far today, I enjoy vaping, and I just try to get over the buzz feeling.

What I like about it is that it tastes a lot better than normal cigarettes, and it does satisfy the nicotine craving. In some ways, it feels really good, just as long as I tell myself that it's ok and not anything to panic over. I am starting to get a little bit of a headache.

I think you're getting too much nic on the one you have; could also be too much something else in it; like pg, or menthol.

I think, and I could be very wrong, that you are describing the feeling one gets with too much nicotine! What strength are you vaping and what/how much did you smoke? I started at 18mg and am now at 6mg in my drippers, 12 in my tanks for the most part. 18mg was nice when I was quitting and I even had some 24mg around for the strong cravings. I also kept some heavy tobacco flavors for cravings.

I didn't do a cig-alike. I started with an eGo set up with evod tanks, went to evod batteries because they were more consistent, better quality. Always had at least 2 of them so one would charge while I was vaping the other one. Then I progressed to carto tanks, Smok ZMax mod (still love that heavy, beastly thing) MVPs (great! too bad you can't replace the batteries without a lot of hassle) and finally started with mechanicals and drippers.

My favorite device now is the Reo. Absolutely the best vape I have had: great taste, 6ml of juice in the bottle, no drips, go gurgles and no leaking. It is a bigger investment but it can save a lot of money in the long run if you grab one now. Oh, and lower your nicotine level if you every start dripping or get something like a Reo or a Kayfun (which I also love).

There is a new tank out that is getting very good reviews: Kanger Aero Mega. New coil design and air flow control that is supposed to be an improvement on previous models.

Hope I didn't confuse the issue here. I just wanted to give the benefit of this past year's experience. I am much happier now as a non-smoker and especially as a Reo user.

That "buzz" is most likely the early stages of nic sick, when you get too much nicotine in your system.
When I first started vaping I started with 24mg nic (was recommended because of my almost 2 pack a day habit) and found that after 6-7 good draws I would get a slight buzz, almost like feeling lightheaded. I switched to 18 and the buzz went away as long as I didnt chain vape.
Try cutting down the nic level, and see if it helps.

Newer vaper here myself (3 months), so can't comment much on the "buzz" feeling. I Do think the veteran vapers are correct in saying it may be the nicotine level you are vaping. Some vape shops use different nicotine levels in their tanks for their juice bars (some you sample will be 8 mg, while others are 24mg). I feel nauseated vaping anything above 18 mg. As for the juice leaking and you inhaling some, you would need to practically drink the whole bottle for it to cause any real damage. I had a bad habit of over-tightening my tank when I first started vaping, so was constantly swallowing small amounts of juice! I hope you are able to resolve your weird feelings and begin to truly enjoy vaping, as I have! Best of luck!

Cornwall eh, just down the road from me. I don't even know why you are on the e-cigs what with all of the contraband floating past. Just dip your device in the St Lawrence if you want to top up.

Oh wow, did not even notice that! Howdy neighbor! I'm just across the border from Cornwall, about 20 minutes away from the bridge lol

Thanks for the replies. Howdy neighbours *tips hat*

I found out I just needed to get used to it. I've got 18mg with 70%PG and 30VG. So might be a little high nicotine, and maybe, just a little too much PG? Also, I was 1.5 pack/day smoker.

Nah, I've continued vaping, even with analog cigs around. So far, I always go for the e-cig. I don't get the buzz anymore, just a satisfaction that lasts for a nice while.

I just found out that the place where I had bought my old juice came from China, and the store has recently been closed and banned because of it. A new, more legit place, had told me when PG is that high (in the case of my juice, it was 70%), then it was more likely that it had high amounts of DEG or Di-ethylene glycol. I now have juice consisting of 60% VG, 20% PG, 10% H2O, 10% Flavor. Probably a better way to go.

So does the store have a name or are you just making that up

Great posts thus far. Congrats on getting back to e-cigs! There is a learning curve so keep that in mind. Figure out what works for you.

I talk to smokers and ask if they have tried e-cigs, and at this point-in-time most answer that they tried them once and didn't like them... Who ever picked up a cig and liked that the first time? Almost none!!

Def sounds like a bit too much nic. As others have said, it is easy to overdue it when you start out. In the beginning it takes some testing to find the right lvl of nic (which will also depend on how often / how much you vape). If you vape more often then you will want to lower you nic lvls. Also, keep in mind that if/when you upgrade to a new e-device you will likely find diff set-ups that will produce more vapor. If your device is producing more vapor then in turn you will likely need a lower lvl of nic as well.

Stay at it, and you now know where to come with any questions that you may have. -Best of Luck-
