If you decide to make the switch. I would go with tobacco flavors first to get over the analogs. After that you could start experimenting with fruit, drink, and dessert flavors. I started with menthol and now I am vaping redhots and bubble gum. Before you get your first ecig, check out different vendors and models and browse the forums, and don't hesitate to post any questions you have. Good Luck!

I haven't looked at any ecigs yet...I've only just found out about them. I've been doing some reading but it's a little confusing. I currently smoke 10 cigs a day(I've cut down in the last couple of years)...MacDonalds brand. I used to smoke ExportA but I changed brands two years ago, hoping to lower my enjoyment level...That didn't work!

Hi SharonCC,

I am fairly new myself. started 3 weeks ago. The people here are so very helpful. I started with a cig look alike but quickly realized that that was not cutting it or what I wanted. I ordered an echo, but it is big and looks nothing like a cig but I love it. The other two that were recommended on here to me is a joye 510 or a riva. Very similar in looks but the riva evidently has a longer time between charges. The echo is an automatic and the 510 and rivas are manual. I have not tried a manual but a lot of people seem to prefer them. A lot of people on here recommend Liberty Flights for equipment. I have looked at them as I am thinking of getting a Riva to have a manual for what they call dripping which should not be done on the echo automatic as it ruins the batteries. This is all information I have gleaned from hours of reading here. Do not forget to order some juice when you order your equipment. I ordered tobacco in my first order along with some flavors and found that after 2 days, I hated the tobacco flavor. My current fav is english toffee. Some really do like the tobacco though so I would order some of both. If you order the echo.... do not order small 3 ml bottles of juice as the echo takes 3.5 ml on first fill and has to be filled full the first time to wick properly. Hope you enjoy your journey as much as I have. Do not be afraid to ask questions. Someone will have the answer.

Once you get a nice PV (personal vaporizer) and some good e-liquid (what goes into the pv) your enjoyment level of analogs (regular cigarettes) will go down much more as you will find cigarettes to be yucky in comparison.

To ensure your continued success with the switch id recommend against mall bought or "gimicky brands", they tend to be way overpriced and you are forced to buy from only THAT company for refills. The brand id reccommend starting out is joye. They make good products and their "510" connection is pretty standard and gives you a huge selection of replacement parts. Youre gonna find out eventually that going with cigarette-looking devices also limits you in terms of how long you can vape on one battery. I only was able to quit when I started using the "joye ego" or "riva 510" it "mega t-rex" they're all essentially the same product and could be found for a very reasonable price.

Once you get your e-cigarette and liquid, your experience will also depend on what you use in it as far as how the eliquid is vaporized. Id reccommend getting a 510 atomizer or two (usually come with the kits standard) along with a drip tip, as well as pack of cartomizers (also 510 connection). Youtube is a good source for finding information and seeing it visually. Look up "ecigs how to drip" or "ecigs cartomizers vs atomizers" etc

Hi, Sharon! Welcome to ECF!
The ECF Library is probably the best place to start. "The Wonderful World of Vaping" is a six part series with loads of information that will help you on your way. It's really good that you're here because we can give you tons of help and support. This place is also really great time waster, just so you know!

Hi Sharon. Make 4 more good posts and you can post in the Canadian forum. There you can find out about your options for e-juice in Canada, etc. EcoVapour.com just got "the letter" from HealthCanada, so they are putting their juice on sale until June 15 (tomorrow). If you're shopping for a juice deal. After June 15, their juice will be 0mg like a lot of Canadian vendors. :(

Consider battery life as your first criteria for picking an e-cigarette. Many people look for something close to a real cigarette (mini) as their first kit. Then they realize that the size isn't as important as having an e-cigarette won't quit out on them several times a day. So, I would recommend a fat battery system. A fat battery also gives you the option of trying low resistance atomizers if you need more vapour and more flavour.

Also consider getting a manual battery vs. an automatic. A manual battery requires that you press a button every time you inhale, but it gives you a little more control over your vape. Also, the manual batteries are sealed so you can try dripping with them. You can try dripping new juices to see if you like them before filling up your cartridge or cartomizer with them.

So, good fat battery systems to look at would be the Ego (not the Ego-T), NoEgo, e-Power, Riva and Echo-E (manual version). They all have 510-type connectors, which is a very popular connection for accessories.

Getting your stuff shipped from outside of Canada is a bit of a problem, since Canada Customs will not allow shipments that contain nicotine juice. You should be fine shipping just the hardware, however. I've had good luck with some Chinese vendors and American sites like MadVapes.

In Canada, you can look at NicFitNation and HappyVaper for hardware. There are several other sites. Get your post count up and head on over to the Canadian Forum for suggestions.

    Good luck with your decision.

I have vapor4life and I love it! With $90 I got pretty much everything I needed to start, PLUS they threw in a bunch of fun different flavored carts for free! They shipped in 2 days. Super fast. So far loving them except for a tiny head ache here and there, probably just from making the switch... oh and I thought I was going to hate all of the fruit flavors so I got all coffee flavors, BUT, I absolutely love the free fruit ones they gave me! More than the coffee ones to tell u the truth. Anyhow. Good luck!!

I started with the V4L kit also, and I did the same thing. I started with 555 and WoWbacco, and coffee flavors, but soon found that the other flavors are great. I loved my v4l. I did get one battery, and after a 2 minute phone call, they sent me a free replacement, just like that.

Do yourself a favor and don't try anything else...The moment I bought a 510 adapter to try dripping, the v4l kit and cartomizers stopped being good enough. You will see in my signature what an expensive road that led me down LOL

    @OP
Congratulations on your venture into e-cigs! I will be at 4 months just 2 days from now, and I have tried patches, gums, inhalers, etc...and always bounced back to cigs in the first week.

Also, if you are a tinkerer(never know), we have a very extensive modding section to teach you how to build your own e-cig/atomizer/e-liquid. It's a fun hobby if you are into it.

Hello, Sharon! Welcome to the forum! I think your best place to start is with the EFC Library. I smoked for over 30 years and in October, I found the e-cig. For me; the joye510 is great if you want that cigarette look. I am currently using an ego simply for the charge because I'm a heavy vaper. I recommend starting out with tobacco flavor liquids also; but you may find that you like the fruit flavors, etc. much more. Whatever equipment that you end up using, have some fun and experiment! There's a lot of great sites out there and lots of good advice here!
    Good luck!

3 weeks into vaping here and don't even care to see another cigarette again. Definitely read the "Wonderful World of Vaping" posts by DonDaBoomVape, and you'll make a considered approach to purchasing a system that you'll be happy with. I'm almost as brand new as you but vaping has immediately become my new hobby as well as helping my health. The adventure of trying new flavors, new methods, and just reading through the myriad of information on this forum is fascinating. Good luck and I hope you find a system and flavors you like!

I'm New as-well, sorta. I looked at a lot of reviews and finally ordered the Volt, from smokeless Image and I love it! It's fantastic and I haven't wanted another Cigarette since I got it. I looked around, learned how to refill them properly and bought a bottle of liquid(cheesecake flavor) It's awesome! I'm so excited to have started. I bought the started kit with 2 batteries from them, so that my husband could use the second one as another e-cig, or I can have a extra in case mine needs to be charged. They are cheaper than some of the others I've had and hit almost like a normal cigarette!

I didn't realize that there were so many options...cheescake flavour??? Maybe I can give up desserts as well! LOL!

I have to say I feel so welcomed. Thanks so much...it helps!

Haha If you look through, the flavors are almost LIMITLESS! 2 flavors that are almost universally loved are RY4 from Ikenvape, and Bobas Bounty from Alien Visions. Both are "tobacco-like" flavors. RY4 is tobacco with a caramel and vanilla flavor to it. Bobas Bounty I haven't got to try yet, but I've never seen anyone say they don't like it.
