Hello ! My journey begins in the morning. 1st e-cig coming today. Couple of questions.

Hello everyone. I am going to attempt going directly to e-cigs from traditional smoking after trying a friends local drug store e-cig. My jaw hit the floor when he let me try it and I skipped a cig because it satisfied. I purchased an ego-c since that seems to be recommended for long term/heavy smokers. I would not consider myself a heavy smoker because I do not smoke in my house or car and have not done so for a couple of years which reduced my smoking a lot and even still I only smoke about half to 3/4 of a cig anyway.. I used to smoke a pack a day to the filter before the wife insisted that I take it outside for our health and that of our pets.

Any tips of suggestions would be very helpful. I ordered two 30ml bottles of e-liquid that are pg/vg before I even knew what that meant. My outlook is that I am not quitting but mearly switching brands and method of delivery. I think my mindset might help the transistion because I already believe in my sucsess. Glad I found this forum and after reading so many great stories about people stopping smoking after switching I feel sure of myself. I am not fond of the idea of flavors other than tobacco honestly. I like the taste even if it is only close. I hope to be writing my own story of one month free of cigs soon.

Welcome to the forum! You've come to the right place! I'll put in my 2¢ here. I started with a cigalike, and it less than what I'd hope it would be. I joined the forum, and was directed toward a Joye Twist and a Mini Vivi Nova. I can't say that was s bad choice at all. It definitely put me off my 40+ year addiction to the stinkies.

What juice did you get?

Well congrats!
I started with tobacco flavor too but soon switched to fruit and pretty much all of the other flavors out there. I really went away from the tobacco flavors until just recently when I tried grumpys hootch which I like alot.
Just stick with it and you will be fine, you are already way ahead of the game just by believing you will do it!

Welcome to ECF! And I agree with the above poster's statement. So much of being able to leave the cigarettes behind is one's mindset. If one thinks "I can do this!" then they can. That's what I did...and I did!!!

Tips and suggestions:

Learn about the dripping method. Every vaper should know how even if you find it isn't your preferred method.
In the future, purchase small bottles of eliquid from numerous vendors until you find your favorites.

In addition to the aforementioned advice:

Years of smoking have harmed your taste buds, so e-juice flavors may appear muted. Exhaling some of the vapor through your nose can help in "tasting" the flavor.

Drink PLENTY of water. Vaping dehydrates you and can cause dry mouth, further affecting your ability to taste.

Always have a supply of charged batteries at the ready. Also have enough juice to vape for at least a week in advance. No juice or no charged batteries means no vaping. Don't give yourself an excuse to go buy another pack of smokes.

If you feel the need for a cigarette, vape harder/more frequently. If that doesn't work, it won't be the end of the world if you have half of a cigarette. If you aren't quitting cold turkey, try to limit yourself to just 3-4 for the first couple of days, and down to 2-3 the next couple, etc. After a couple of days, you will notice that the cigarette becomes less satisfying, and in no time you will actually prefer your e-cig over the real thing.

Finding a couple of good juice flavors that you can vape all day is as important as finding the right gear for you. The above advice about buying flavor samplers from e-juice vendors is a wise choice. Once you find some you actually like, you can always order larger bottles.

Expect at least a week from the time you order new e-juices to the time of delivery, and plan your juice alottment appropriately. Expect to consume at least between 3-5ml daily.

There are a variety of different attachments to vape your e-juice in that attach to your battery. Dripping atomizers, cartomizers, clearomizers, ce3s, hybrids of clearomizers/cartomizers. I did a kind of pictoral dictionary of these devices here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/cartomizers/343294-proper-terminology-carto-tank-what-lol.html

Hey Liquid drummer, congrats on choosing to replace anolog with e cig.....I too am new to this stuff (3 weeks), all I know is ive only had like 6 ciggarettes in that time.....in canada the packs are ten bucks......i ordered a Prosmoke first (same size as a cig, with pre-filled carts), I found it worked well, but lost the vapor after a short time.....have since found some e juice (no nic) , the device worked a bit better, but now looking for something better. I am finding that no matter what your thinking of buying, there will be many opinions, the good and the bad of that product. I ordered the Ego-t model......tank system, so i dont have to drip , or rely on poorly filled carts......Im hoping it will work fine...anyone wants to see good vapor.....and have some sort of throat hit.....or you know what happens, your puffing on anolog again....anyways, hope it works for you...

Wow, thank you for all the advise folks. I am sad to say that my Ego C arrived with NO ATOMIZER HEADS. Not one !!! Everything else appears to be there but I am so bummed. I was ready to begin tonight. I wrote an email to myvaporstore. I hope they dont think I am trying to pull one over on them. I cant believe this... I see some slots in the felt packaging where it looks like they might go but nothing that looks like the head in the manual.. Arrrrghhhhh !!!!

I am 5 days on vaping and 5 days off cigs so also a noob but this forum answers any questions I may have, if your having a second of second guessing there are many people that are more than willing to help you through it since I got my ecig in the mail (kr808d-2) I have not once and an urge for a cig.... It's only been 5 days but I can already smell the stink off smokers really disappointed in myself for letting myself smell like that for sooooo long on top of that the amount of money I was spending on cigs was just stupid compared to this.

Greatest decision I have made for myself in a while!!!!

Ack, that has got to be the WORST feeling! Having a nice battery and nothing to attach to it :( Are you sure it was a starter kit, all inclusive? Batteries are usually sold separately, unless in a starter kit.

One word of advice! Someone mentioned to exhale through your nose to maximize your tasting pleasure! I do recommend this, however, depending on your juice, you may find that your nose feels wet inside. It's not snot, it's the moisture that accumulates on those fine little nose hairs (yes, I looked!!). It feels a little weird, but I don't find it an unpleasant feeling. Just grab a tissue and mop it up! If that was TMI, sorry...

EDIT: Duh, I overlooked them. Whew !!

Letting it charge now and have it put together. The ordered juice before I knew about pg/vg. Turns out these are 50/50. I bought one bottle of 1.8 and one bottle of 1.2.

I wanted to add to, just as many will tell you to stay away from tobacco flavors as will tell you that is all they vape. So IF you find you like the tobacco flavors then by all means vape them. There are so many choices out there on equipment and juices there really is no right or wrong, it is whatever you find works for you.
