Hi there. I'm enjoying all the information on this forum so far. I just picked up an e-cig from a local drug store on the recommendation of my neighbor. I wish I had done some research first and I probably could have saved some money. Oh well...

So, the one I got is called Fuma, and it seems to be a kr808d-2? Not sure about that.

After looking online and reading around I looked at azsmokefree and ordered some kr808d-2 cartomizers (flavored and blank) and a starter kit for kr808d-2. I'm hoping those are compatible with the Fuma thing I got, but if not, I will (I think) have some batteries and cartomizers that work together.

Are the d-2's rare or hard to find? It seems like azsmokefree was one of the few places I could find them. Looking around here, it seems like they can also be called E9 (?), but I wasn't sure enough about that to order anything labeled as E9, and when I go to a particular site sometimes they just list their brand name and not the general model name, so I was very confused and overwhelmed.

I'm going to stop now, and respond to my own post so I can up my post count. :2cool:

I am enjoying the e-cig experience so far. I'm not sure what strength the cartomizers are that came with this Fuma thing. They seem not to give me quite the hit of a real cigarette, but with some longer drags I can calm the craving for a real cigarette. I'm enjoying being able to get a hit without having to go outside and without getting all that cig stink in my hair and clothes. I'm hoping to experiment with some liquids and I also ordered a sample pack from uh... VaporGod. If I can find a taste I like, I think I might be able to make the switch.

I watched a couple of videos about refilling cartomizers, but after trying to remove the plastic thing on the Fuma brand carto I'm not sure I will be able to open those up. I will have to see if I can pry the top off without destroying the plastic part. If I can't I guess I can just drip some liquid into the hole and see if that works. Probably nobody has experience with refilling Fuma cartos, but if so I'd love to hear about how you do it. If I can't, then at least I've got the ones from azsmokefree on the way.

If you've read all my rambling, then thank you, and I look forward to getting to know you all better.

Thanks Michael. I have seen several videos using that method, and if I can't get the hang of that I'm sure I can use a syringe and blunt tipped needle to fill it. I saw several videos about how to clean a cartomizer, and I don't know if I'd be able to do that without getting the top off, but at least I can refill a few times to get some more use out of them. I'm not really sure how important cleaning them is at this point.

From reading around, it seems the Fuma e-cig is mostly an Ohio thing, rebranded somethingorother. I hope I didn't get ripped off too badly. I know I could have done better if I'd found this forum first, but I probably would have never even tried an e-cig if they hadn't been there in the store.

I'm enjoying some coffee as well.

well, Spazmelda, don't feel bad if you turn out being ripped off..
i spent 70 bucks on my first kit and it was a POS...
thankfully, i decided to use my internet skills not long after...
if it is a 808d at least you can hopefully find a good vape with it-
if not, welcome to exploring reviews, etc, on youtube and this forum-

Yeah, it wasn't too horribly expensive. I think it was $29.99 for the starter kit (1 battery, 1 carto, 1 recharger plug+usb. The cartos are what turned out to be way overpriced I think. It was $14.99 for 6, which is what spurred me to investigate other options. That's when I started getting overwhelmed. LOL.

Thanks for your replies.

hey spazmelda. Seems like quite a few people start off with something that is junk(at least compared to the other stuff out there). I started with a mistic e-cig. Then quickly(within like a week) got a kr808d-1 starter kit. Havent had a real complaint about them personaly. Just remember, if one thing doesn't do it for you don't think that all ecigs are the same. This forum is the BEST spot to find all the info you need IMO. Happy vaping :)

kr808d's are sold under a bazillion different brand names. They could care less who's lable they put on the box. They come in D1 and D2 versions.
Personally I don't like them, 510 is a far more versitile platform.

I might have gone with that one if I'd done some reading first.

The Fuma is a KR808D-2, they sell them up at my gas station in town and someone I know bought one. Surprisingly good for a gas station model, the carts actually hold a bunch of juice. Buying juice online and re-filling the cartos will save you a bunch of money and buying replacements isn't too expensive.

This is the best price I could find on the cartos:
The Better Way To Smoke - KR808D-2 Cartomizers

If you want to upgrade I HIGHLY recommend getting something that uses a bigger battery and uses a 510 thread. The most popular choice is the EGO eGo Carto Kit With Carrying Case

Like most new users I started with a mini e-cig but quickly went out and got myself something with more battery life and more POWER :vapor::closedeyes::vapor:

KR808D-1 is the popular model slim 3.7v mini, carto makers make new styles of cartos for it, etc

KR808D-2 aka E9 is the incompatible rebrander model. The threading is different. Nothing else wrong with it. Still a good 3.7v slim mini, just with very little choice of blank carto types and as far as I know, no manual batteries available. Manuals are safer from being damaged or killed by the kind of juice leaks you can get with refilled cartomizers and they make it easier to get a good hit.

What until you determine if you have KR808D-1 or KR808D-2. You can find a small amount of KR808D-2 stuff at AZSmokeFree.com and some blank cartos at Vaporkings.com. leCig.com also has D2 cartos since they used to sell a D2 model. They also have adapters to/from D1/D2. The following rebranders use or used D2 for one of theyir models: GreenSmoke, Red Dragon, Vapure, Smoke 51 Duo (but not Bloog - Bloog used to sell a D2 but their current model is D1)

I'm in the same boat Spazmelda. Got mine (Metro by Nicotek) at a local smoke shop. Waiting on some juices to arrive with some cartos that might fit, we'll see and I want to try the condom fill method too. If neither work, I'm only $20 in the hole with the Metro and at least know I love vaping and can move on to bigger and better e cigs!

Thanks for the replies.

After the first full day of using the e-cig I was delighted to find that I had only smoked 2 *real* cigarettes all day long (one first thing in the am and one in the evening). AND, that was being home with two kids the week before school starts and a broken air conditioner, which would have normally driven me to smoke a lot.

I have about a PAD or 1.5 PAD habit, and I wouldn't have thought it possible to have a day like yesterday with only 2 smokes.

I have nothing to compare the Fuma to yet, but it doesn't seem too bad. The cartomizers last a long time (I've used only 2 so far and neither are empty yet). I was getting decent vapor (in my limited opinion). The battery lasts quite a while too. I put it on the charger once yesterday, just because it was convenient, not because it was dead. I think with even just one extra battery I'd be okay for a day.

I think I will try to use this one for a while and see if I can recoup my costs by not buying so many cigarettes. If I can do that, then I will look at ordering a bigger better kit of some kind (feel free to convince me that your favorite is best- lol). This will give me time to figure out what I need.

The kr808d-2 kit I ordered from Azsmokefree just arrived, and it's pretty much *exactly* the same as the Fuma that I bought at the drug store, even the same stripey pattern on the battery. So, looks like that's going to work. The charger even appears to be the same thing. Now I'm excited to get some different flavors to try. Maybe they will arrive tomorrow!

Wow! Only 2 cigarettes all day? Congrats to you. Sounds like your PV is working just right and you didn't spend a fortune. It's amazing isn't it? Glad you're here.

Things are going really well. I'm amazed, actually. I only had one cigarette yesterday and I haven't had even one yet today. I would have never thought that was possible. I've tried patches and gums. I have nic gum on hand pretty much all the time for occasions where I can't smoke. I'm sort of a closet smoker and try to hide it from my children because I don't want them to know that mommy smokes. So, to smoke I go outside and hide around the side of the house so if they come out they won't see me.

I am absolutely delighted with how this is going so far. About 3 years ago my husband and I decided we wanted to get healthier. We were both overweight, and I smoked (he hates smoking). We both lost about 70 lbs and I became much more active, playing racquetball and lifting weights. It has always bugged me that I have the appearance of being athletic and 'healthy' but I still have to be a slave to the cigarettes (although I realize that at least it's a bit healthier to be a normal weight smoker than to be an obese smoker). It's ridiculous really, to put on my exercise clothes and go out for a smoke before heading to the gym. LOL. I am hoping now that this will be a step to getting off nicotine, and if I can't at least the vaping will not be nearly as unhealthy (from what I understand). It's nice to realize that I've already *not* spent about $15-20 on cigarettes!

I finally figured out how to get the tops of the cartos (bent bobby pin worked well), so now I know I can reuse those. I got some generic 'tobacco' flavor from azsmoke free (came with the kit) and some of their RY4. The tobacco is okay, but I don't care for the RY4 at all, so I will let my neighbor try and see if she likes. I also made the mistake of getting that one in 12 mg, which doesn't really do it for me. I think I mentioned above that I ordered some juices from Vapor God, and I'm thinking of getting some supplies to mix my own (I'm a molecular biologist, so I enjoy measuring and mixing things).

I've been looking at the Ego and the GoGo as possible future purchases, although the kit I have right now is working for the moment.

Thanks for all the help, both on this thread and on the entire forum.
