Hello everybody,

I am very new to this, so I apologise for all the questions.

I guess I need some help picking out my ecig. Here is some background about me. I am 31 years old and have been smoking between a half pack to a full pack a day since I was about 16. Last week I had some lung function tests done due to asthma and apparently I have to quit smoking ASAP. I have been on the patch for the last few days, but I miss the inhale of cigarettes. This has lead me to you guys :)

Now I am not very good with gadgets, so the simpler the better. Also, I am a girl so I would prefer a little one similar to the size of a real cigarette.

I have been reading threads all day and from what I have read it is hard to find juice with nicotine in it in Canada. Are there any really good canadian products out there? Has anyone tried being on the patch for the nicotine and using an ecig with zero nicotine? Any good results with that?

I would really appreciate any suggestions anyone has for me! Thanks guys :)

Hi Punky and welcome to the forum :)
There's a Canadian section off the forum home page. You'll need 5 posts here first (that happens fast).
There are juices available from 0 to 36mg and even higher. You'll probably need 12mg or so for a throat hit that would mimic a cigarette. I was a heavy smoker and started at 36mg. I've since dropped down to about 24mg. I tried the patch a couple times and just wound up smoking with it on. Not so good.
As far as cigarette stye e-cigs there are a couple good ones. I started with V4l but there are others.
I wish you the best of luck

I agree - that's as simple as you can get - a 2 piece. The issue with 0-nic juice is 0-hit but the flavors and familiar sucking and inhaling and exhaling vapor is still real nice. Just find juices with good flavor and try to avoid any that drop a lot of flavoring sediment in the stuffing (will shorten the carto's life).

And those bloog cartos are nice. I recommend thin juices like 10-20% VG and the rest PG. Or you could make 75PG/25VG by mixing 1 part of VG juice and 3 parts of PH juice if you can't find any vendors with PG/Vg blends. The PG lets the flavor through better (and with nicotine, the hit through better), and the VG is thick but adds nice vapor. if you stay pretty thin with the juice (mostly PG) it should flow well and help prevent any singeing of the stuffing. Just keep the cartos damp. I would recommend manuals but if they only have autos that won't be too bad since Bloog cartos are pretty resistant to leaking if you don't add too much juice and clean them up well after adding juice. Bloog has a nice drag w/ plenty of vapor.

I can get 7 days good use out of one carto. And some people clean cartos and dry them to get extra life but results can be inconsistent. For testing juices you can put a standard resistance DSE901 atomizer and 901 cartridges on it (or a drip tip with manual sealed batteries) so you don't waste cartomizers trying juices.

You can already buy juices that are mixed. Taste is subjective :0). I'm a "girl" too though with grown children and in my mid 40's I hesitate to call myself a girl LOL. I will tell you it's NORMAL to want a "cig looking" pv. But I'm here to tell you (and you'll probably ignore me as all newbie's ignore the vets at the begining) don't bother with the cig sized pv's. They suck. The battery life is terrible and well......ya. I find MOSTLY the cig like pv's are complete and utter RIP OFF'S. Money wise and time wise. Gander around and take a look at what everyone is doing and using. Perhaps you can find some inspiration.

Welcome to the ECF!!!

Here I currently have a Revolver Elite Starter Kit and a Revolver Infiniti Ion Starter Kit. I would not recommend the Ion for 2 reasons. One they are a little larger than a cigarette, 2 I have had some TERRIBLE luck with their batteries. The Elite is exact cigarette size but not much battery life (which I would prefer over size and style any day of the week). I also tend to get better vapor and draw on the Elites. Definitely go with a manual battery if you can!

I myself have discovered what I think is important in a PV and have ordered a Volcano Inferno (from what I hear it's a knock off Ego which is very popular) and am now trying to find what liquids I will be purchasing.

Good Luck in your venture to be smoke free!

Welcome, I am rather new at this too, but I also reccomend a 2 peice (kr8). I currently am using a volt, which I love. The service has been great and prices are good too. As far as cig sized one so far this has been the best feeling out of all the ones I have held. I am positive others will reccomend something bigger and better but for someone starting lik you and myself it has worked wonderful. Only thing make sure you get at least two bats, i made the mistake of getting just one.....needless to say im stalking the mailman now lol. So here is another site you could check:

Volt - Standard Starter Kit

And even thought there was minor problem with my bat (it didnt look pretty) they are sending me one right now great CS.

best of luck to you :)

You can buy juice already mixed and if you don't like the flavor of some of the juices you can try mixing 2 together and coming up with something new and hopefully something you like. I've done this many times. Sometimes with success and sometimes not. I suggest if you mix 2 juices together you mix them is small bottles so you don't waste both flavors if it doesn't turn out the way you hoped.

Welcome. I too am somewhat new, but I agree with the two-piece that looks like a real cig. I tried the Blu (loved it but poor battery life) and Smoke Free. The Blu is a "510" and the Smoke Free is a RN4081. They both look like cigs. If you try the 510, the Volcano is not a bad choice. Remember, the Brand Name ecigs are usually more expensive. If you can help it, do not buy at a mall (ripoff city). Find something you like, find out the model number, then search online for vendors (100's out there) of compatible parts and/or juice. Have fun. I have been since Aug 20th.

Thanks for all the great advice!! My head is spinning a little lol!

How long do the batteries usually last in the volt? I saw on some site that you can get a battery charger that looks like a pack of smokes, wouldn't that keep you constantly charged?

As you can see this is all completely new to me, but from reading posts I think I'm learning lol. I just got a disposable ecig today at a gas station just to see and I love it!! So I can only imagine that I will soon be very much in love with my very own! Now only if I could just decide on what I need!
