Hello people. I'm 2 months analog free and needing some advice and/or direction.
What I currently own are a e-go type 1100MaH straight battery and a Vision Spinner VV. Evods and a protank 2. Usually use 2.2 ohm coils and 50/50 juices.

I have noticed that my mouth and throat get very dry and hit seem harsh. I've tried rebuilding my own coils, using 1.8 ohm coils and even a 70%VG/30%PG juice. The juice was too thick and clogged my atomizers even removing the flavor wicks.

I'm getting tired of buying bum coils (Kangertech) and/or having coils flood.

Looking into the mechanical mods, but wondering if that would really solve my issues. I vape all throughout the day (18-20mg juices) and am just looking for something that is not going to foul up and give dry hits, flood, short, etc. like twice a week. I want a smooth vape!!

advice? direction? thanks!
D.

For the dry mouth, drink more water, when you think you might have enough, take one more glass...:) Vaping will dry you out, keeping hydrated all the time will help somewhat. Also different flavors may be more harsh tasting to you, even if it's not actually giving you a classic "dry hit", try some lighter flavors, maybe a different vendor/ mix.

Re-building coils is a good start, try some different wicking, cotton, hemp, cotton yarn, silica, ecowool, etc...each has it's own flavor profile and wicking properties, find which you like best. Also trying one or two different style toppers, evod, vivi-nova, aspire, RDA, old-fasioned cartos with filler, etc...everyone has their own favorite -almost where no two vapers are alike. Get one or two of a particular style, see which you perfer.

A mech would likely not solve all your issues, for one thing you're stuck with a single voltage (if not using a Kick), you spinner will allow you to try lower or higher voltage / watts to see what works best for your own preferences.

No matter what equipment you choose to try, it doesn't seem any work perfectly out of the box. The quality control is sorely lacking in the pre-built coils and cartos....hopefully it will improve in the future. I've been adjusting, modding, tweaking all my toppers since I started vaping, after a while you get a feel on how much juice flow, how much air flow, how much power, how thick of juice works best for what you like best.

edit: p.s. Welcome to ECF !!!:vapor:

I use a quart bottle, get away with "only" 3-4 refills....

Haven't tried any berry blends, but 4 watts is a bit low. It would seem to indicate not enough juice flow as the juice cools the coil and keeps the burnt taste away. You could try a simple 510 or 306 atomizer to drip on, they are reasonable priced, good flavor, good vapor and might give you a better idea of what your juice is doing. Dripping allows you to manually control the juice flow, and is a great way to test a juice for flavor, vapor, thickness, or if it's just a "drain cleaner" flavor....:)

Welcome! I quit in mid-October. What I'm doing is working so I'll share -- YMMV. I'm DIY on juice and pre-mixed VG with 15% distilled water and 5% of saline solution for base. Then add flavors and nic per recipe/calc. My nic is VG but I recommend PG base for easier handling. As you noted, too much viscosity can cause wicking problems -- and I've had none with this approach. Saline is used in nebulizer for various lung conditions and has helped me significantly with dry sinuses. I have a pet theory that, because saline is electrically conductive, I get vaporization at lower current and heat (note this is an untested theory).

I always run using variable wattage mode using 6.0, 6.5 or 7.0 watts. If a coil is somewhat gunked, on rare occasion (and for limited time), I might run at 7.5w. I do not like the heat off low-resistance coils and prefer 2.2+ or higher coils. Of course, bottom coil tanks (mine is a mini-PT 2) generally give cooler vape than top-coiled.

Finally I vape creams, vanilla and tobacco flavors, and generally change heads every day or two to retain flavors and vape production at above currents. I went thru a couple 5-packs of replacement heads and then ordered pre-made wicks and coils; a fifty pack was around $10. I now rebuild them once a week for 20 cents each (vs. $3 for purchase of replacement head).

So yeah, in summary, good wicking, bottom coil, no dry burns, low current (and heat) and saline mix seem a good recipe for me.
