Hi and welcome to the board; and thanks @dcfluegel for the ping. Dc is correct, first come questions. What tank do you have? And what coil is in it? Do you have ejuice? What nicotine level is it? Your IPV3li is very nice gear, as you have been told, albeit far more powerful than most people need to get started. Not to worry, though, as it can be turned down to a power level appropriate for a new vaper. It also needs batteries-- 2 x 18650 flat top high current batteries. Do you have them? A charger for the batteries and a spare set, so you can vape 1 while the other charges, is very handy but not an absolute requirement.

A few simple pointers will be forthcoming, but we need to know what you actually have so we can steer you right. Your daughter is right: vaping helps many people quit, and we all think it's much better for you than smoking. Tell us a bit more about what you have, we'll tell you what (if anything) more you need and how to get and use it. One more question: how much do you smoke? That info is important to get you set up with the right nicotine strength.

Please hit the "reply" button at the bottom of this post when you give us what answers you have. That will tell the system to notify me you have done so, and I'll come back and look. You're on your way now, and we are going to help. You already have the most important ingredient: a desire to quit.

One of the best ways to learn vaping is to have someone show you on your own device. Might want to take your equipment to the local Brick and Mortar Vape shop and request some help from the salesperson. Most folks are delighted in helping a newbie.

Welcome @Heatitup1973 , There is some learning and people will follow this thread to help you. Many, many people here are/were in the same boat as you. Long term smokers. Here is a link to E-Cigarette Success Stories Basically, Success Stories.

At first my taste buds were rather damaged from smoking, so my sense of taste took a while to heal. But, I just took "draws", about 4 at a time when I felt the urge. I did not sit my vaporizer in front of my eyes. I wanted my body to tell me. It takes about 30 seconds for the nic to take effect, so 3-5 draws and see what happens. If your body keeps giving you urges, maybe a stronger nic level. Just get your nic for now. Everything else will come in time.

Nic is not "bad" for you. My doctor very much supports it and he...and even my dentist have seen positive change. Just relax, ask questions and get your nic for now.

Happy, healthy vaping!
