Hello everyone! I am very new to the community. I want to introduce myself as well as throw out a few questions to the vet's here :) I just got into vaping and was able to quit smoking almost immediately from 1.5 packs a day. I wish I knew about this before. I actually tried other e-cigs and failed with the logic and blu ones.

Anyway, I am still very new to this and I have tons of questions but I tried to learn as much as I can on my own using google and youtube. Problem is I wish I knew about it before making the initial purchase as I believe I got ripped off, but I can't complain because this is a good alternative for me.

So I got a starter pack from an unnamed store in Long Island for $50 that included:
• No books, instructions, model names or numbers on anything! I tried to find out what I had by matching up pictures on the internet.
• Nothing was in any sort of packaging.
• (1) 900mhz eGo? battery
• (1) Kanger EVOD eGo Clearomizer
• (1) USB Charger
• (1) 10ml liquid

A few days later I went eLiquidPlanet's showroom and found everything so much cheaper and wanted to cry. I got another clearomizer, bottom coil replacement, and some more liquid while I was there.

(Question 1) Moving on, something really important I learned that's not really told anywhere was that sometimes you have to let the liquids sit and air out for a day or two before using to get the right flavor if the liquid is recently made. Is there anything else that's super important to know like that?

(Question 2) I realized while browsing on the net that the replacement bottom coils come in different ohms. I read what the difference was on battery usage and hit difference, but do certain clearomizers only work with certain ohm bottom coils? Can I damage my battery permanently? (The guy who sold me everything at the initial store didn't tell me I should have spare anything incase something happens... I just stopped from heavy smoking and don't want to go out and buy a pack because I don't know how to use this or am misinformed on anything.)

(Question 3) I intend on getting a second battery to keep handy in case the first one runs out while I'm out, any suggestions? I'm just going to get another starter kit from eliquidplanet tomorrow afternoon for practically half the price for the same stuff I got from the first guy.

(Question 4) Any suggestions on what a good overall website to order from would be that has great customer service from personal experience?

Thanks everyone :) Any tips, opinions, links, or anything would be really helpful! I intend to be part of the community in the future and once I learn everything on my own I promise to make an effort to help anyone with any questions as anyone would help me:)

Welcome to ECF!!

Q1) - Steeping your juice, letting it sit can change the flavor. That said, try it fresh, if it tastes good vape it!! :vapor:

Q2) - Lower ohms give a bit warmer vape, higher a bit cooler. Try a few different and see which you like best. Battery usage is really not a factor, unless 57 minutes vs. an hour is a vital difference.... Browse around some of the posts and reviews, there are many, many choices. (vivi-nova are my favorite..)

Q3) - Always, always, always have backups, and backups for your backups. Vape gear isn't as readily available as we might like.

Q4) - I like Stormy's Vapor Cellar, but there is a long list of trusted vendors on the front page of the Forum...:)

Congratulations and welcome to the Forum. Regarding your questions:

1. Steeping - yes juices do require steeping. Leave the top off for 24 hours and then let sit for 24 - 48 hours. Many juices will come steeped. More complex recipes involving numerous ingredients can takes several days, even several weeks to steep fully, undergoing several flavor changes throughout the process.

2. Yes, the coils come in different resistances. Generally, a "standard" resistance works well with most setups. What is standard? IDK, somewhere between low and high, but usually in the 2.0 - 2.5 ohm range.

3. Yes, backups to backups is rule number one in vaping. Another stick battery with variable voltage like a Twist or Spinner would make a fine backup. Getting something like an iTaste 3.0 would relegate your current primary to a backup.

4. There are a few dozen very good websites that we all use, and, of course we all have our preferences. Go to the Forum's Preferred Vendor List on ECF.

A lot of vaping is trial and error and an evolutionary progress. Since vaping is so subjective in most ways, you do have to try several different batteries and toppers over time to find out what you like. For example, top coils vs. bottom coils? ego/stick batteries vs. larger APV's? Clearomizers vs. cartomizers? It's largely live and learn, experiment, read, and participate here like you're doing, and enjoy. I love vaping as a hobby these days, and am also addicted to the Forum. All the best!

Welcome to the recently quit club. Last analog I smoked was Friday early afternoon. Got a VV eGo starter with two wicked clearomizers Sunday afternoon. Not a single desire for an an analog yet, I know I'm going to be sticking with this awhile, so I've got an MVP 2.0 mod in the mail on its way, and I'll keep my two batteries as a back up.

I'm still looking into new clearos, having a hard time deciding on what to get. I'd go drip for the flavor, but I'm always on the go, and need something to last me through the day without constantly refilling.

Fun times ahead, my friend!

welcome to ECF...beside getting the your starter kit and quitting cigarettes, it's the best possible step on your journey to quitting.

the kit that you got is not a bad kit, and most of your questions were answered by more knowledgeable people than I am (still pretty new myself).

as mentioned before, don't stop at the "second" starter kit, you might want to get the guys at the store let you look at a bigger battery/mod, like a Vamo or something.

I was at about your level smoking (1 to 1.5 pack a day), and the guys at my store instantly recommended a variable voltage mod (of course those are a bit higher priced) and of course I got ripped off too, because I didn't do research.

I just said this is it, this is what I'm going to do and I did....it worked out (except for my wallet), but eventually I did do research and now find great deals (mostly online) on a daily basis.

I still visit my local store from time to time ... the reason I chimed in tho is that when you go looking for bottom coil replacements I would suggest genuine Kanger coils.

A good reasonable price is to be had at DiscountVapers.com (less than $6 for a 5 pack).

I personally also prefer Kanger Pro tanks for the glass and metal materials (don't like plastic tanks).

ok... this was my input, I hope it is helpful to you.

Good luck and keep :vapor: away!!!

Wow, I am impressed with everyone's responses! Thank you everyone for all the helpful info. I am definitely going to look at the hardware suggestions everyone gave and check out those sites. At this point, I think it may be best for me to go to the different store locations and get some hands on experience and hopefully tutorials from the shop owners. I hope they have the Itaste available hehe.

I will update with what I ended up getting when I get back from the store tomorrow, thanks again everyone!

Hope you find what you are looking for. It makes all the difference in staying with quitting. This is something I enjoy and learning came easy. Research is your friend and I agree that seeing something in person than guessing online. As far as flavors, I have only purchased from B&M places, everyone has different taste and you need to please yourself. For me being able to sample first is the only way.

Thanks for the welcomes, glad to be here! Hehe, honestly, that's the greatest part: not smelling like a cigarette all the time.

Just wanted to make a quick update, I didn't end up getting the VV battery yet. I got another starter kit for two more batteries, clearo's, another usb charger, and 2 backup bottom coils. I'm going to give one battery and clearomizer to my girlfriend because she was really interested. I figured with the money I save from not smoking ($10 a pack where I am at 1.5 packs a day) I can wait a bit more and I'll get the VV battery down the road.

I got to taste a bunch of flavors while I was there, ended up leaving with a 10ml Hazelnut and a sampler pack that included 5ml samples of Whiskey, Cappuccino, Blue Cola, Fruit Punch, and Black Tea.

I only tried the whiskey out of the sampler so far, but I didn't like it so I poured it back into the vial and letting it sit for a day after taking the cap off to see if it makes a difference. My first time letting something steep.

I must say though, 6 days in, I feel like I'm doing good on not smoking but its tough when others are smoking around me :(

Welcome and congrats! This forum is awesome, but I also experienced the "i paid way too much for an ecig that I knew nothing about." The good thing is it that you found this forum and can make more informed purchases now! I know, it's hard to feel like you threw away money. My first purchase was a crappy clone that I replaced about a month later with a genuine EVOD and tank. I then moved up to ProtTank Mini. Then a rebuildable. I know it is all confusing right now but KUDOS to you for venturing out, quitting coffin sticks and becoming part of an awesome community! Best of the best to you!

Also, I don't know how to respond to PM's or if its because I'm a new user, but thank you Sucker_dad! I just read it :)

No problem. If you look at a PM there is a large reply box underneath it just like replying to a thread. But considering your post count it may not be visible to you yet. You'll get over the hump soon enough. I am only a month in myself and I must say this is mostly a great group of people. Very supportive. I like you paid way too much for my first starter kit. It was a really cheaply made ego-t with a disposable clearo and charger I paid $35 for. You can buy them all day long on Ebay for about 12 bucks. You can get them from Fasttech for about $6. But it got me to quit and that is worth $3500 and more. Just get good advice from these folks and do your thing. Keep it up!

Just so you know here is the cheapest price I've seen for the Itaste vv

Joye eGo Rechargeable Batteries

I have purchased from them(order is shipping as we speak) someone on here recommended them.
I must add though that this setup does not have the mini usb charger with it. You can buy them fairly cheap. or if you have a samsung galaxy phone your charger will work. They are a rather common charger for cell phones.
