Hello Vets!

It looks like most of the questions here are primarily hardware related but I'm going to ask anyway. :)

I started vaping about 3 months ago, actually my husband and I both got the eGo C Twist with the Vivi Nova 2.5mL tank. I love it and am sooo excited about everything!!! I went from a pack and a half a day to 6 cigs on the very first day and I have been smoking for... well, a very long time. The problem is my husband. It seems to make him cough every time. He started with a stronger nic content than I did so he tried mine and it didn't help. I don't really understand since he smokes a full flavor cig and cuts off half of the filter to make it stronger. He keeps trying so I know he wants it to work for him. He tries whatever I bring home but a couple of puffs is all he can handle. I really want this to work for him too! Aside from the fact that I don't want him to smoke himself to death, I really would like to have him share in my excitement. I want to be able to talk about it! My best friend is a non-smoker so she doesn't want to have these conversations. All she knows is that she is happy that she doesn't have to wait for me to go smoke anymore (lol). Plus, it is making it very difficult for me not to smoke a few here and there. Granted, 5 or 6 is a lot better than 30 but still... I just think it is so great and am so happy about it (I can hardly believe how much I enjoy it) and I want him to be able to join me in this if possible. Just so you know, this isn't something I talked him into. We had talked a little about it in the past and then I brought it up in December and it turned out he had already been looking at the different models (didn't want you to think I am just some pushy wife hee hee). If it helps, I have been getting 18mg/mL and the manufacturers I have mostly used are Highbrow, RAWR, and Pink Dot. I am very very ready to begin making my own and will be ordering supplies soon (beginning of April) so I thought if it is a juice problem he has maybe I can solve it. I want to make my own anyway (can't wait!) so if the fix is that easy that would be great. I realize that this isn't going to be for everyone but I am hoping since he wants it, we can find the answer for him.

I hope I didn't ramble too much and that I included the information needed for you formulate some sort of opinion. Thanks! :)

Some people have reactions to the PG in the juice (a smaller number have reactions to VG). The first thing to try is a juice that is 100% VG; then try 100% PG if that doesn't work.

Some people, when they smoked, would draw the smoke directly into their lungs. If your husband was one of these people, he may be doing the same with the vapor. If he is, see if he can just draw the vapor into his mouth for a second or two before inhaling into his lungs.

Hope this helps & Good Luck :)

Different brands of cartos can have different effects. I vape the same juice all the time but with some cartos it makes me cough and others don't. The filler material could be making him cough. Maybe have him try a clearo since there is no filler material. If he still coughs than it is probably the juice. Mostly likely too high of PG.

What I would do is put together a set-up that has the coolest, smoothest vape possible. In other words, one that old vapers would try out and say is useless :)

So what you need to do is:

- Have the device set to the lowest voltage
- Use a 100% VG liquid
- Use 12 mg strength, no higher
- Use a regular cartomizer like a Boge 2.5 ohm 35mm x 9mm standard model (not a Vivi Nova or a clearo or a dual coil carto or an atty or anything else, as a regular carto is about the 'mildest' vape)
- Don't use a harsh tobacco flavor at first, use a light caramel tobacco or something like that

The idea is that you start him off with something that is too weak. Then he can add stuff to make it stronger, as needed.

Watch a video to see how to fill cartos.

Also note that he needs to inhale to the mouth first (by just using the cheeks to create a vacuum). Hold the vapor in the mouth for two seconds. Then inhale. Many smokers try to lung-inhale on an ecig and it doesn't work unless you have cast iron lungs. Just gently suck for two or three seconds, with the mouth only.

Another possible problem might be the Vivi Nova itself; it's a top coil design where the heating coil is placed very close to the vaper's mouth, producing warmer and possibly harsher vape.

I recommend switching to bottom coil clearomizers, which provide cooler and gentler vaping sensation. One good clearo to try is Tabac BCC/Kanger T3. They are widely available and come with changeable coils to boot.

eGo 3ml Tabac BCC (Bottom Coil Changeable) Clearomizer

Good luck and happy vaping!
