I have successfully gotten about 10 people off analogs and onto e-cigs, including people who have smoked for decades, but my husband just can't adapt. He wants to, but every 510 he tries has problems. It always feels like he's pulling thru a clogged pipe. I told him I would try and find a next best option. He has had issue after issue with 510 atomizers and he HATES breaking them in because they all taste horrid until you get them broken in. And, he thinks maybe manual isn't for him. What do you guys recommend? I really don't know what to try next but I haven't had a cigarette for 4 months and feel so successful (and self-righteous); I can't stand him still smoking.

Help?

Thanks,
Kelli (aka, Zinger)

I think a good non-510 that has a great following and excellent results is the KR808d-1. It uses cartomizers (carto), rather than the atty/cart combo the 510 uses. The battery can be manual or auto, and it lasts longer than the 510 regular batt. The cartos can be purchased prefilled or empty, and they can be added to.

Nhaler has kits too, but a bit more expensive:

KR808D-1 SERIES

It does take some time and patience to make a 510 work well for you, and some don't like several aspects of that model. There are 510 cartos available now that fit right on the 510 batt, so you can bypass the atty/cart combo. As a note, the kr808d-1 cartos will not fit directly onto a 510 batt, but will with the appropriate adapter.

Battery / Atomizer Adapters

That option is done by many here, but I personally do not see the point with a regular 510 batt, as it lasts much shorter than the kr8 batt.

But just the kr808d-1 system on its own is a great convenient PV, and the cartos last a long time before needing refills...although they are generally considered "done" and tossed after about 4 refills. At about $2 a piece though, that's not a huge expense. The kr8 is a great worry-free PV, and well designed to carry with you all day without worry of leaks or having to top off the cart all the time. People say they have better flavor than 510s...but I think my 510s taste amazing.

Another comment though should be made about switching to vaping, in general. It is easier for some than others, and the ecig was never meant to be a smoking cessation device, rather an alternative. That some people can quit smoking entirely with vaping is great, but not all have, and the chemical reasons people smoke is not always taken care of 100% with vaping. Your own addiction is likely very different than your husbands. Some people here, me included, still have analogs occasionally. Some use snus or snuff to give the additional tobacco compounds that vaping cannot give. Ecigs are not a magic bullet.

I would get the kr808d-1 kit and perhaps some extra cartos and batts. Who knows, you might like it better than the 510 yourself. But realize that unless your husband wants to vape rather than smoke, he may well not be happy with it too. Be patient with him. If you are being self-righteous about vaping, as you claim, this may be causing some resistance in him, making him hyper-critical of the experience. I know of very few people that quit because someone else told them to. I certainly didn't. Smoking is about as deep and complicated addiction as it it gets, and it is very difficult for some to fully quit, even with a delicious juice in a rockin' 510 PV! ;)

The good news is that if the kr8 doesn't work, you can always sell/trade it, and there are a lot of other options too. I just think this one might do the trick. You can get more info/discussion about it here:

Good luck, and congrats with your own switching! I'm a 100% 510 user myself, although I use a mod with larger batts. Love the attys though they do take some time and effort sometimes. Worth it to me, though.
Keep on vapin' on! :)

Vaping pleasure is in the throat of the beholder. The Kr8 and the Joye 510 are both excellent models and the ones I recommend to new vapers.

My personal favorite is the penstyle. Many people, however, are turned off by its length: 155 mm. If that doesn't bother you, I urge you to give it strong consideration. It delivers well on the big three: vapor, flavor, and throat hit. In my opinion, the best model is the Joye 302 ... although the new LV DSE801 atty on a high mAh 3.7V battery is fantastic.

BTW, another thing you can do with your Kr8 if you don't like it is to use the Kr8 batteries (and adapter) with a different atomizer, e.g., penstyle. The 280 mAh Kr8 is the only true 3.7V regular e-cig battery.
