Good choice! It sets you up for an eGo when and if you get tired of the battery chargering. You've got the best atomizer and it's a good idea to know how to get the best from that. And that may include a good cartridge mod. Since you're a gadget geek you'll like this one and it works!

I find it works better with Johnson & Johnson 'safety swab' shafts. And you might try a blue foam plug along with it - my favorite now for months - which allows a good 30-40 minutes of heavy vaping between refills.
I use cartomizers but not with the 510 regular batts but in the eGo batts. The problem is, is that the 510 regular batts can't take the low resistance cartomizers because the battery isn't enough for them and the higher resistance cartomizers like the mega carto at nhalers runs too cool - hence a vapor loss. There are now some 2.6 and 2.8 ohm cartomizers out there that should be good though.
