Hello @dmehungry and welcome to the forum. it worked for me. I've tried many times with other methods but vape was practically pain free to switch to. I would advise taking a trip to a local vape store if you have no knowledge about vape.

I found there are 3 main issues to successful vape. 1. The proper nicotine level (based on your cig usage). 2. A flavor of juice you enjoy (you can sample at local vape stores) and 3. decent starting equipment (I recommend an iStick 30 or 40 watt mod (battery) and the Aspire Nautilus Mini tank (shown below).

There are many other starter kits available.

Good luck in your journey.

Hello and welcome to the forum @dmehungry. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
Here are a few more links from New Members Information <= Link covers many topics. Here are two of them:
Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Some juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

I want to quit regular cigarettes its hard. I've heard about vaping does it work

HI and Welcome @dmehungry . You are speaking to a 43 year veteran of smoking. I have tried many things to quit over the years but vaping was by far the easiest. Started vaping Sept 28 this year. That day had 4 stinkies. Sept 29 I had 2 stinkies. OCT 1 I started my new life without a Marlboro hanging out of my mouth. Started on 12 mg Nic which I guess was right for me. Have not looked back since. Having fun tasting all the flavors of vaping! ;)

This forum has the greatest people for support and knowledge I have ever seen. Kudos for everyone on here!!!!! Sorry dont mean to rant so I will shut up and step aside for the pros to answer.:toast:

Hello my friend I was an ardent smoker for more than 40 year which the 40 years was hand rolling. I did not try anything else simply because I loved cigarettes. My collagues thought of me as cigarette tea and mouse.
I did not intend to quit. But had to find a way to ease my trouble of walking. Could not walk through 100 meters without a breathing break. Heard that e-cig business and wanted to try. I thought I should go on smoking again and for other times I would vape.
With the first intake of vape, I thought now that there is this vape why should I smoke? It was the last time I ever smoked afterwards. (In the beginning, there was a lapse of 7 cigarettes after a few days due to fake liquid)
Three years without a smoke and I cant smoke one even if I only want to try. Nasty coffin nails. :)

You should try it first to see if you like it with someone who doesn't pushes it on you. Try many devices and juices so you know where you're heading.

Going too fast doesn't help.

I suggest you also think about it as a ritual (as I did), you have to make researching on it fun and distracting from the smokes.
The more you'll know, the more you'll want to stick with it :p

everyone else has good advise here, but I would like to add one more thing. Even when you find your right nicotine levels and good equipment, you'll wan't to keep a "quiting smoking" attitude because there are other chemicals that you might be addicted to in cigarettes. I used to smoke over 3 packs a day, I fully switched to vaping. My willpower isn't strong.
