Hey everyone, how goes it?
Alright let me give you the low-down on who I am. Joe, from US. 18/male. I've been smoking analogues since I was 14. Thats 5 years before I even past my 18th birthday. If tobacco was illegal, it would have been more expensive and I certainly wouldn't have been able to smoke it 16 hours a day.

But what I really wanted to say is in the past 3 days now, I've only had 3 cigarettes. I went from a pack a day to 3 cigarettes in 3 days. I feel great! So happy I finally did a teeny bit of research, went to my local tobacco shop and picked myself up a 510 push-button white model. Worked great, I smoked it whenever I wanted a cigarette, and I'm still going strong. I only gave in to those 3 analogues because I was feeling good off of some spirits.

I love research and I love forums. Not really sure what I'm going to do with my life to get money for the internet, but as long as I have the internet I'll be reading articles, visiting forums and learning. I came here to learn from ya'll a bit and hopefully teach ya'll a bit as well.

First of all I just wanted to say that I am worried about smoking the PG liquid that you can find in Michael's crafts and other stores. I'm probably beating a dead horse but I recently found an article stating that the "buttered flavored" PG may be very bad for all of us. You can read it as a pdf file here: ntp . niehs . nih . gov / ntp / htdocs / Chem Background/ExsSumPdf / Artificial Butter Flavoring . pdf (Unfortunately I cannot post links until my 15th post so if interested, you'll have to take out the spaces. I wouldn't want anyone going out to get some PG and ending up with this, if this is the same butter flavoring that is harming so many people's lungs just from average exposure, no telling what it is doing to someone whom is vaporizing and smoking it. I made the mistake once and I wont be smoking it again.

Unfortunately I did try to PG buttered flavor and had a panic attack after reading up on artificial butter flavoring AND the dangers of PG. I even had a couple of strange uncontrollable "convulsions" after smoking a cart of it. And I don't usually have convulsions so I'm not really sure what they came from but it may have been the high concentration of PG.

Other than that, I'm happy to be on the site. I dumped Anna around 4 days ago now and I'm really starting to hate her. I did come crawling back once so far, only because I had a bit of alcohol in me. Shes a hell cat in the sack, hard to stay away, but, I'm doing fine now.

Please let me know your thoughts on the PG or V Gliserine. Apparently they are the same thing but differently synthesized. I have done plenty of research on entheogenic extraction/synth. and some chemical synthesis so I may have to look into creating a carrier substance that is a bit safer. After all, if scientist's suggest that prolonged exposure mutates cells, that is just a fancy word for cancer my friends. Any thoughts are appreciated.

<33 Hope I can stay smoke free.

Well I'm not too sure how to edit my previous post.
Taking a look I see a ton of typos & its too long, but oh well.
To sum it all up- I do not recommend using artificial butter flavoring in your PG.

I also wanted to say that I see a couple friends from different herbal sites.
Nice to see some of you made the transition to these. :)

These cartridges are starting to make sense to me now.
I wasn't getting good smoke production and it wasn't a great hit.
So I've started taking a few puffs with the cartridge on...
(that gets the juice flowing) and then I'll take it off, cap it,
& puff right from the atomizer. I wonder if thats how your meant to do it?
It looks like a normal cigarette and is much more pleasing.

I can find nothing to change about the 510 after I've started doing this.
The batteries are pretty good, I love it.

I read your first post and came away confused. I just chaulked it up to the initial mania of new vapor.

There are many areas of this forum you'll be reading soon that will be very enlightening.

Have a great vape.
LOL yes, I agree with you - I was also a bit on the "manic" side when I made the full switch from analogs to vaping... What a rush! :D

Well, I went to walmart. I bought some Propylene Glycol (which is the ingredient in E-Juice that causes the fog effect) I got home and looked up if I had the right stuff, and I did. The only problem was that it had butter flavor. I didn't think much of the artificial butter flavor so I loaded a cart and started puffing away, and more fog came out than ever before, it was great.

Meanwhile I got curious and looked up "Danger of artificial butter flavor" just for fun, and it turns out that some artificial butter flavor is a cancer causer. So I'm nervous now, and out of no where I have a leg spasm. I account this to my nerves, but its possible that it was the concentration of Propylene Glycol in the vapor I was inhaling, I didn't mix it with water.

I google Propylene Glycol and all I can find is that it attacks the Central Nervous system and harms the heart and liver, and it does cause spasms.

So my question now is.. Is there E-liquid that does not contain propylene Glycol?
It just does not seem safe. And I know that cigarette tobacco has 500+ chemicals, but this is directly preventative. We know for a fact that we are vaporizing this, some of us in HUGE quantities. While the FDA approves it for flavoring in small amounts, smoking this daily is not my idea as safe. Especially when FDA employed scientists are coming out and saying they are corrupt.

Anyone? Is there a "safer" e-liquid?

PG USP is used in hospitals for vapor treatments and has been studied and is considered safe. I have never heard of it with butter flavoring which is dangerous. Yes it is used in fog machines too, but rock bands are not dropping right and left from it either. They probably avoid that butter flavor too.

I got mine from the cattle treatment section of a local Tractor Supply and it works great. Very pure and takes flavoring well.

You'll want to go to the DIY-Liquids section and start reading there. It seems you are slightly confused on what we are using.

Thanks for the welcomes guys. Glad to be here.

Hoosier- Propylene Glycol is also used in cake flavoring as you may know, and that is what I have here. I am simply trying to warn people NOT to make the same mistake I did and get a bottle with an artificial flavoring. Which really scares me, what is this artificial flavoring the vendors of e-liquid are using? What is the butterscotch made of? The same cancerous artificial butter the popcorn agencies use?

Yep, good point. Make sure you are using USP or pharma grade PG & VG.

As for flavorings, the tongue is a horrible judge of flavor. We mostly taste with our noses. And the quantities in juice are quite small. Nearly any chemical in enough quantity will harm you, even pure water. Nicotine in light concentrations is deadly. So, the real question is, what is the concentration? You can breath formaldehyde in slight concentrations everyday for decades and never have a single issue, but a heavy dose at one time is harmful. It is all about concentrations.

Even with that I would stay away from the old butter flavor as it builds up over time like CO, but with fewer paths out of the body.

Hello, We are Abdussalaam & Nourah and we just received our luci (1 for him, 1 for me) today!!! So, today is our official "Quit Analog" day!!! Wooohooo!!! We have been hyped about it since we placed our order yesterday. After over 5 years of just talking about quitting smoking, we finally found a way to quit!!!

Abdussalaam smoked 22 years and I smoked 13 years. We knew we needed to quit, we wanted to quit, but we were slaves, pure and simple. We were trying to find something, some healthier alternative to replace our habit. I'm very hand-to-mouth habitual and we both crave nicotine. To be honest we hated smoking and the smell, the sinus infections, the bad teeth, the stomach problems, the full ashtrays, the lighters, can't find a lighter, can't find the ashtray, my empty boxes, the migraines, the constant fatigue, the children can't come in our room cause it was smokey or we were smoking, and every other ill you can think of. We are free, never again a slave to tobacco. My husband was smoking an analog when the package came. He took a pull from the E-cig and put out the analog and said he was finished with the analogs for good. Me too! It feels so good to be free from our former Slave Master, Big Tobacco. Now, we just need to find one of those tickers we've seen on this forum!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, the remaining analogs in the pack were sent to the neighbors next door.

Welcome to the forum abdus-nourah! We're in it together.
Its like the cheerio commercials, we can act like we're "trying" to get healthier...
But you really don't have to try with e-cigs, its like cheating. :)

Thanks for the welcome Stroh22, its a fine place to be. Need to research anything you put into your body and this forum has the answers I was looking for. Nice people here too.

Hoosier- I'm not positive what they are using for the butter flavored e-cigs, or what is inside the food grade PG. But I do know of the many cases of lung problems and cancer caused by artificial butter flavoring so I'll stay away. What is the CO build up your talking about, abbreviations are a newbies worst enemy. Carbon Monoxide buildup? I have not done nearly enough research but I'd stay away from the butter, anyone that is reading this has been warned. I have to take a deeper look around the forum, this has probably been covered 100x I'm sure.

Update on how I'm doing with the smoking cessation: Doing good today. I believe I may have really done things wrong when I was mixing the 2mg gum with the e-cig. I am now on high mg cartridges and doing fine. When I was using the gum I would feel drained and depressed, I'd chew half a piece of gum and feel better for 10-15 min and then I'd feel horrible again, so I'd take a few puffs of the e-cig. I was on a perpetual roller-coaster going up and coming down. But now I've figured out how to use just the e-cig to maintain a level of consciousness similar to before I quit. Doing good now.

Funny thing is- I found a full pack of my favorite smokes on the ground yesterday walking home from my neighbors house. My mom says it was the devil tempting me. haha. I know I've got to quit while I'm this young because it will get MUCH harder the longer I smoke, and when I have a full time job. So I am staying the course. We will see if things get any harder soon enough! Will keep posting.
