No NO no on the extracts, sorry. With a few notable exceptions (some teas, coffee, nicotine) you should NOT use home extracts. Please don't. If you visit the DIY forum and some DIY vendors you will find about 1003 vanilla flavorings that are safe for vaping.
As long as it's USP you can get PG lots of places. Cheapest (probably) will be DIY vendors.
Also, PG is a flavor carrier. It's also less "sludgy." Seriously I started out max VG and then found a good (safe, flavor carrying substitute) that I am not sensitive to, (I can't vape more than about 10% and my mixes got SO MUCH better.
"Having a bunch around" is not a good reason to use max VG, and you won't save money by raiding your spice cabinet I am afraid, it will cost you in lung function.
Hope you get good assistance over there! DIY does NOT save money in the startup costs. To do it properly (at least to start) you are going to need more than vanilla extract and some VG.
