Thanks for the welcome!
(BTW, I forgot to mention that I'm a "she.")
For all those trying to help out w/ my tank issue (to whom I am most grateful) -- yes, bombastinator, it's quite easy to get the tank off the mod. No problems with the 510. But, the directions for the tank (complete with illustrations) definitely show that, to fill the tank, I am supposed to remove the tank top (well, and of course the drip tip) and top-fill it.
The chimney isn't actually one piece with the top of the tank. It looks like it in the pic, but the pic is of the iSub V Vortex tank, and I have the older iSub V, which came with the mod. Anyway, to ignore the directions and try to bottom-fill the tank, I'd have to take the coil out (also easy enough; I started the whole adventure by priming the coil) and pour the juice into the hole where the coil was and into and through the chimney, whence it would just pour out of the drip tip. So, yes, it's a top-fill tank.
I think it's just a lemon. Since I smoked a pack of cigarette yesterday intermittently working to get the danged top off, thus puffing away $14.30 and doing more potentially deadly damage to my body, I may just order another tank. If I can find one compatible with my mod. (Coolfire IV TC 100W.) The instructions about what kinds of coil i can use with it are bewildering. (I'm jumping from a Joyetech EGO AIO and a Smoant 8 to something a little beyond my knowledge base, which is basically zilch. Except I know to prime coils. As I said, basically zilch. I was just planning to use the coils that came with it and buy the same kind as replacements.) I think time to head to the tank forum, though I'm a little afraid of it, lol. Unless somebody here has a suggestion.
Or, I could walk it over to B&M vape shop & ask the person on duty for help. I'm pretty sure they'll make a cursory attempt to get the tank top off, fail, and sell me a new tank. B&M retail is something I try to avoid paying, being very poor, and having been sold my EGO AIO at twice the online price by a B&M store where I used to live by a fairly obnoxious youth who clearly was reluctant to leave his cloud contest and wait on a clueless-looking, middle-aged chick; but I feel too guilty already about being advised by this store's saleswoman to try a pod w/ salt nic and leaving with the advice in my head but not the offered pod system. (I'd heard mixed things about the Suorin Drop, anyway. But mostly I was being cost-conscious. SSI income is very low.
Well, that is the deal with the tank, plus the story of my life as a probably unwanted addendum. Forgive me. I just want to stop with the smoking already, and vaping worked, but only for a while. (I'm a little tired of drinking spit-back from the EGO pen, and I don't actually like high-nic salt juice, so I figured perhaps the right thing to do was get a proper mod and tank system. Since I can't seem to get off the stinkies again--NEVER smoke "just one" if you've successfully transitioned to vaping, even if your mother gets cancer! And try that with some low-nic juice mixed with a small amount of WTA, which is what worked for me before in the pen. Perhaps I just had a case of shinyitis when I bought the set. But I have the mod, which was quite well reviewed; might as well get a working tank for it and try it. I think.)
Apologies for taking up all this space and attention. I'm just truly desperate to stop smoking. I remember how much better just vaping was. Just can't seem to quit the death-sticks again. (My mom also forbade me to vape, on pain of being expelled from my apartment, which she owns and is letting me live in, as I can't possibly pay market rents even to share w/ people, on $693/mo. She means well but has bought into all the anti-vape "medical studies" being pushed to her, & doesn't get that they are not comparing the dangers of vaping compared to the dangers of smoking a pack a day. I referred her to the British study on "5% as dangerous as smoking," but she didn't want to hear about it. Anyway, that thoroughly took the fun out of vaping, as it went from a fun, life-saving new hobby/NRT to a crime. --Mom's Korean. Disobedience is a crime. &, I had to try to hide all my equipment whenever she invited herself over, plus endure having all these bogus studies forwarded to me as further reasons not to vape. I now have contingent permission to vape for 3 months just to stop smoking, which is also why I broke out the new mod and tank last week. If it works--assuming I can get a usable tank--then I can use just it and my ADV & the WTA and retire, i.e. permanently hide off-site, all my other vape stuff, which will make it much easier to keep vaping on the down-low after that. If I get a working tank.)
That is more than y'all ever wanted to know, I imagine. But there isn't a sub for "New Members with Numerous Weird-... Vaping Complications." Sorry, again.
