Juices containing PG gave me severe breakouts and therefore I decided to switched to 100% VG juice just a few days ago.

However, I keep getting dry hits almost 90% of the time! (It's either Tasteless, slightly burned or had a slight metallic taste. However there is always a good amount of vapor!)

I'm was using a ego CE4 clearomizer. Then i switched to CE5+ clearomizer, and it is the same, dry hits too.

It is really getting very frustrating and giving me a very bad vaping experience.

Does anyone have any idea on fixing this problem?

Remember, i can only use 100% VG. And also, I do not have the luxury to switch to another clearomizer/atomizers as and when I like..So I will greatly appreciate if anyone have any idea of fixing this dry hit problem on my CE5 clearomizer.

Thanks

You could maybe try thinning your liquid down with a few drops of water. There's also dripping you could try but I don't know how you feel about making your own coils.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.

Wouldn't adding a few drops of water make my juice even more tasteless?

Could I makey own coil with my Ce5+ clearomizer?

A few drops of water per ml would dull the flavor a little in theory, but I don't think it would be all that noticeable. CE5 coils are replaceable but some I have seen could be rebuilt instead, but I was talking more about making coils for a dripping atomizer like the squid RDA.

If you DIY, which I suspect you dont, you can just add a little extra flavor to compensate. If you are ordering pre made juice you could ask the vendor to add a little extra flavor and then dilute it yourself or ask if they have an option to dilute it when ordering.

I vape 100% VG myself, and use protanks and aspires with little to no issues so also I would suggest looking into a different topper, and while you are at it a basic mod wouldn't hurt either. When I switched from EGOs to mods 9 months ago it was a night and day difference.

Hi. Yup. I don't DIY. even if I want to I do not have the luxury to do it as these things are illegal here... haha.

And my juices are all pre-made. And therefore it's unlikely that they could add in extra flavouring for me... :(

Sigh. This dry hit is almost making me wanna give up vaping.

Btw, a mod and a basic ego difference is one earth and heaven?? Wow. You are really making me feel like going for a mod!

Is it ok to use boiled water?

And as it is already tasting super tasteless, I worried that the water will make it even worse...

Please advise

Boiled, bottled, or straight from the tap. I think where it comes from only matters as far as your preference goes. I've put water in my juice before without much flavor loss so I don't think that is much to worry about. It would help to know what flavor your juice is & from what vendor. They may very well be registered here & could step in to help with increasing your flavor percentage. I also agree with the recommendation of using a different topper. Maybe a protank or protank mini would wick your VG juice better.

The reason to use distilled water is to avoid minerals in the water which are known for clogging up things, boiling will concentrate the minerals and thus make it worse. Either way, something like a CE5 will die from other causes way before regular tap water becomes a problem so just use that.

The tasteless bit is because VG dampens flavors and the manufacturer hasn't compensated for it appropriately. A little bit of water wont make any perceivable difference though. I have my doubts about whether diluting the liquid will make any difference to your dry hits either though..

Any which way you look at it, most of the CE4/5 clearos are rather crap, PG is more resistant to crap atomizers because it takes more heat to burn. If anything, i suggest getting a better atty.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I think I have just found a fix for this 100% VG dry hit issue.

That is I placed the bottle of my 100% VG juice into a cup of very warm water, let it sit for about 30 seconds then take it out, shake it and then repeat the process all over again until I feel that the juice is thin enough.

Surprisingly, it worked!! I could taste the flavour! However I lost a good amount of vapor though.

But it actually thinned the liquid, solved the dry hits issue and brought the flavour out.

heat can temporarily decrease the viscosity of e-liquid but it will go right back as soon as it cools down, its also rather insignificant compared to the heat put out by the atty itself..

What i think you witnessed was your atty behaving like it should for once.
