I started vaping a couple weeks ago, and havent even wanted tobacco since.

I bought s Smoke Stik starter kit, with a wall charger, usb charger and car charger. I also bought a usb passthru. I am refilling with flavored juice and I have been very careful about not overfilling, I usually end up frustrated because I dont put enough juice in there and have to refill to often

Heres the problem:
The batteries suck. If I plug them into the wall charger, there is only one that will change the light to a charging status. If I plug them into the usb charger, they do charge somewhat, but the light never changes to show that they are changed (left one on for 14 hours and it was still red). NONE of the batteries will charge at all on the car charger.

My usb passthrough works great, but I have no way to use it in the car, and even if I could, I dont want to be stuck on a cigarette "leash".

Got any ideas?

Or should I just buy a better setup? I need freedom, the ability to refill, and a passthru for the home and car. And I need to not spend a bloody fortune.

SUggestions? tips?

This.

Egos are nice to start with. If you want a passthrough, I would suggest getting an ego passthrough battery. Like this one. You'll be able to keep it plugged in and usable as a passthrough and unplug it and take it with you when you want free from the "leash".

Also, if you want to use the passthrough in the car, you can either buy a car lighter usb port dongle, or a mini USB-B type car phone charger would work, I'd think, since the battery takes that style of plug.

If you want to stay with the cig sized pv then I'd recommend a Volt kit from Smokeless Image. If you don't mind going with a cigarish shaped pv then the Ego or Riva will give you longer run time in between charges. Liberty Flights has great prices on a Riva kit using the 20% off link at the top of their website.

I think there was a post here a while ago about not making this the "get an ego" forum. :) There's a reason so many advocate them, though. It and the similar Riva are specifically designed to address the issues with the smaller batteries, though, and are still quite "cig like".

Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

There are a lot of posts around comparing the two. The only big difference to me was that the ego has the locking function so it doesn't go off in the pocket. Having never set myself on fire with the Riva in my pocket, though, it's more of a peace of mind thing than anything. :)

The ego or riva is suggested a lot because they are great products for new vapers. Their battery life is way ahead of mini cigarette style batteries, they are 510 threaded (there is a 901 threaded riva though) so it is very easy to get atomizers, cartomizers, or any new attachment because most come out with 510 threads, they are dependable for the most part, and they are easy to use.

I personally also like the volt from smokeless image but the batteries don't last as long as the ego and cartomizers are slightly harder to find.

I started with a gas station ecig (didn't work) and was blown away with the ego. I have since moved on to other devices (mods) but the ego gave me all I needed to kick the cigarette habit.

No one single brand is perfect. Everyone including joye has bad ones. The usb port itself needs to be a 2.0 I believe. Ego passthroughs do take a long time to charge, especially if you are vaping it while it is charging. There are different car chargers for different devices also. The 5v 12-24 volt car charger is better than the 12v without the cord. Passthrough should only be charged from the bottom. Contact the supplier you purchased it from and ask about it. Passthrough Ego's are fine, if yours isn't faulty. All brands get bad ones. No brand is perfect. Different manufacturers all make different 650, 900, 1000 and 1300 passthroughs. If you have a 1000 or 1300 you shouldn't need a car charger as they last all day. Try a drip tip. They are very cheap. Mega ego cartomizers last a long time and are very cheap as well. There are many tanks and gadgets that work perfectly fine for little cost. Don't be duped into wasting all of your money. Try the small stuff. It works just fine. Congrats on kicking the habit. You just changed your life for the better, and there are so many different things out there you can purchase it will blow your mind. You can get an ego passthrough for 20-30 dollors. the battery life is much better. A 510 or 3056 atomizer will work with it and they are from 4-10 dollars each depending on where you shop. 1000mah ego passthrough + Mega ego atomizer + Mega Ego Cartomizer is the cheapest way to go for long lasting performance. $35

If you aren't put off by a slightly larger battery, then the Ego or Riva is a great ecig. You get 5-6 hours out of a battery and charging one takes about an hour and a half. I have one battery left from my original Ego kit that's 18 months old and two more Ego batteries that are a year old. I rotate them.

Longer battery life requires mass. Mass equates to slightly large size. Those who demand slim batteries are doomed forever to constant charging or being tied to a USB port by a pass through device.

For $29.95 you can get a Riva 510 starter kit that contains two complete Riva 510 ecigs with 750mah batteries (5 to 6 hours heavy vaping between charges), a cone (dresses up the Ecig), and a charger, along with a nice leatherette box.

The Riva 510 is a 3.7v version of the Ego style ecig (3.4v). It will accept any accessory with a 510 thread. That opens up a multitude of options that you will see discussed here on ECF.

Click the 20% off icon at the top of the page to get the $29.95 price.
Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510

It's also available in a Boge carto version for $34.99. You get all the parts in the Riva 510 Lite Bundle along with 10 Boge 510 cartos (a $16 value by themselves).

I would venture a guess that if there were no lil' batt cig-alikes available, that the vaping tyro success rate would soar! Hail to the eGo...

I dunno. The allure of the cig-alike was what prompted me to give it a shot. I remember seeing pics of Chucks and SBs and thinking That's crazy. I'd never use one of those crazy contraptions! 2 months later and the BSB is my constant companion. :)

I'm not surprised to see egos mentioned and that's not a bad choice. However, if you must have something that's cigarette sized, you need to go with a volt or a bloog max fusion. Same thing different names.

If you're open to something else, I think generic batteries are the way to go. Replacements are cheaper and you aren't limited to PV suppliers. The two I'd recommend starting out are the e-power and the roughstack. Both are available at madvapes.

all usb ports run at the same voltage,, think it is .5v ?? 1.2, 2.0 and the new 3.0 all the same power supply

so any usb charger will do the job

I'm not sure what you're trying to suggest here, as the thread was primarily about batteries, but... first of all, USB is 5v, not .5v, and the primary purpose of a charger is to convert a specific input voltage into a (possibly) different output voltage at a specific amperage. The statement, "any usb charger will do the job" is simply not true.

You say you need a passthrough for home and car. But you probably don't really need that.

I use eGo 1000 mah batteries. If I have one charge up and leave the house,it'll go for 10 hours or more, and I vape a lot. I can take another battery with me as a backup, and sometimes I do, but I've never actually needed that backup - my battery lasts longer than I'm away from the house.

I don't have a passthrough, and I don't have a car charger, but if you have decent batteries, you probably don't need them unless you leave your house for over 10 hours at a time.
