Got a new Stingray clone, having issues with the switch sticking, feels like it's sticking on the threads. Not positive on that, maybe I'm doing something wrong? not sure... First mech mod, so I'm learning, seems like it should be the easiest thing in the world, but I've tried making minor adjustments, but not sure I'm doing anything that I actually should be doing. any tips? videos? words of wisdom?

Best bet with a fresh clone is to fully disassemble the switch (DO NOT LOSE THE TINY RICE PIN) and clean/scrub everything thoroughly, many times this will improve the crunchiness that the stingrays are sometimes prone to.

If its still crunchy you can try a tiny drop of some type of LIGHT lubricant on the rice pin/internals of the switch, ive also seen people mention having success using graphite powder to lube a SR switch.

Best of luck!

In place of the oil try noalox. It contains zinc particles that help improve conductivity of joints. I use it on threads and switches outside the atty. I keep it off any part that the air I inhale goes over.

If you use oil/noalox it will collect dirt so you will have to take it apart on a regular basis and clean it. How often? How do you feel about dirt? Certainly if the button starts to stick.

Thanks guys. 10 minutes and she was good to go. My first mech, Sony vtc4, and until my other order comes in I'm using a Nautilus..... I like it. I liked it a lot, much better than my previous devices. I'm a happy camper.

Crappy phone pic, but you've seen a stingray before. ;)

People keep recommending noalox. I prefer silicone grease. The same dielectric grease they try to sell you at autozone every time you buy a light bulb. Contains no metal particles to wear out stuff, cleans super easy with rubbing alcohol, protects against moisture and corrosion, cheap and easy to find, and is made for our type of applications. A $1 packet goes a long way.

Is it the Tobeco clone?

Because if it is, the same thing happened to me. In my case, there was no gunking of any kind. When I took it too the B&M where I bought it, they took the switch apart, and then had a conference, saying they had never seen this before.

What they saw: inferior too small magnets that had flaked a bit. They replaced my button with the button from another one(I think it might have been an infinite clone that had it's top crushed) that had the right size and strength magnets. Works like a dream now.

The magnets in the Tobeco clone switch I got were about a third smaller, and were black. The ones in the new switch are bigger and silver.

Since some stingray users are in this thread, I need some help. Been looking for some 510s, safety rings and switches to be able to take advantage of the extra tubes that came with my stingray, but have only been able to find one site that is asking $10-$15 a part. I am willing to even buy a 5-pack so I will have some extras. My clone is an Ehpro, but I believe most other clones will work. Thanks!
