I’m fairly new to the DIY scene. Been having fun trying to make some juice that’s worth vaping and messing around. So far the only company’s of flavors I’ve been using are Flavour Arts and Perfumers Apprentice; that’s what they sell at the shop by my house. I plan on ordering some stuff from ecigexpress in the future; them seem to have some really good stuff. I tend to make my juice with 70\30 PG\VG because I like a good throat hit and use tanks and clearos a lot. It was pretty easy to find a starting point for percentages of flavoring to use with the FA stuff, but with the PA stuff it’s been a little harder.

I know it’s all about messing around and experimenting to find what works the best, and even though I’ve found percentages for the FA stuff, a lot of them seemed either way to strong or way too weak… so obviously personal preference plays a big role in it (as I assumed from the get go).

Anyway, I just picked up a few more flavorings yesterday to mess around with this weekend. I figured maybe I’d post up a list of what I got and see if anyone has any recipe ideas for me based on what I’m working with. I haven’t had any luck with the tobacco flavors I have, but I’m pretty picky with tobacco flavors. I mostly vape NET’s in that category, but I also have a major sweet tooth as you’ll see from the flavors I’ve been picking up.

So here’s what I’m working with (FA= Flavor Arts, PA= Perfumers Apprentice):

Tobacco
Perique Black (FA)
Cuban Supreme (FA)
Black Fire (FA)

Other
Maple Syrup (PA)
Pear (FA)
Tiramisu (FA)
Catalan Cream (FA)
Nut Mix (FA)
Caramel Original (PA)
Strawberry (PA)
Pie Crust (PA)
Caramel Candy (PA)
Gingerbread (PA)
Kiwi Flavor (PA)
English Toffee (PA)
Granny Smith Apple (PA)
Coffee Kona (PA)

Try mixing your flavors in 5ml batches to see if you like them or not. FA and TPA both have good flavorings, IMO. Many people like Cappella's, whicj=h I haven't tried.

Out of the flavorings you posted, I would first mix the strawberry and pie crust @ 5% each and see how you like it.
The tobacco flavorings need to steep from 2 weeks to a month before they taste right.

Edit: Do you have the ejuicemeup calculator?

Looking at your list a couple easy ones stand out that would make good combinations for me...

+1 for the ethyl maltol - a sweetener is a must have...

Strawberries n' cream - 10% and 5% ratio to start - not sure on how sweet or pronounced your catalan cream is, however it's easier to add than dilute (a small percentage of pie crust could make an interesting addition)...

Strawberry Kiwi n' cream or Pear Kiwi n' cream - basically same ratio to start 10% total fruit in what ever combination 5%/5%, 6%/4%...

Not much help for you using the tobacco's, I am currently experimenting with tobacco extraction for my flavoring, until then I still buy Pirate's Booty from HHV, it's by far my favorite tobacco vape...

Good luck with your DIY :)

Nice, thanks man. Strawberry pie crust sounds nice. %5 will be a good starting point. I've got a few tobacco mixes still steeeping around 3 weeks. So far they all seem to have a ash tray or pepper smell and taste to them.

I've got some calculator on my android phone that I use, and an online one I found in one of the DiY starter posts I read on ECF. I saw someone with a calculator on their iPhone that looked really nice, had a few options that linked up to online recipes and everything.

Out of the flavors you listed I would try this (but I don't like tobacco flavors - so that influenced my choice, for sure)

6% strawberry
1% caramel original
3% gingerbread

I like adding a hint of caramel to my fruit mixes . .seems wierd but it makes them taste richer.

I would also pick up some vanilla - like TPA Vanilla Swirl, for example. It's a great smoothening/base flavor to put other flavers on top of.

Note - I have not tried ANY of the flavors you have . .but if I had them in front of me . .this is what I would try.

Thanks man, I'll give thoughs mix ideas a shot. I vape HHV all the time as well. I love dark horse, heavenly army, jiggy and gollum (can't remember the name change for that one off hand). I've got some huntsman on the way as well.

The Tiramisu (FA) is wicked strong.

Start at 1% and be prepared to cut in half.

I personally, like my flavors very, very strong. (mix most at 20%)
I mix Tiramisu at 7% and then mix that 50-50 with my (prepared) whipped cream flavor and it's still very strong flavor.

Nice... I've had the best luck with the Tiramisu. Most coffee stuff I've tried tastes burnt when vaping, but this flavor doesn't for some reason. I've been trying it with various different mixes of creams, maple syrup, nuts, and caramel. Kinda trying to come up with a nice latte kinda flavor. I need to try it with some of the penut butter as well and see if I can get a snicker latte kinda flavor out of it.

I've got 5 different mixes of tiramisu steeping right now.

One note on tobacco flavors. Start at 1% because I'm told those flavors are pretty strong! I can't tell you because I want to stay as far away from anything that reminds me of cigarettes as possible!

Yea, I was hoping the Cuban one would be less cigarette flavor and more cigar or pipe tobacco flavor. But its got some kinda ash tray smell to it I don't like. I think I might dilute some in PG and let that steep for a month before trying to use it in mixes. Kinda pre-steep or pre-age it... maybe that will help.

As a long time pipe smoker, I custom mixed pipe tobacco blends. I still have a mixture that is in mason jars awaiting proper smoking pleasure. At the moment, it has aged for 7 years. If I do decide to smoke it, it will be another 3 years from now. Pipe smoking is different from cigarettes, and I may still I may still try it! I would still smoke a fine cigar, outside, of course!
