i got my Prodigy today and it is incredible. Very well made and everything I imagined and I know so many people who love the 5v and the vapor production is awesome. But it makes my throat burn so bad I can't use it after the second vape. I have been using 36mg juice and have cut to 11mg and it still burns. What am I doing wrong? Or am I just a wimp.

I started out using liquid in a cart. I had a blank one that I filled with juice and it burned like H**L. But I was just curious so I took the cart out and dripped the exact same juice and my throat doesn't burn. I am thrilled but I am confused. What is the difference?

Hey justrubl,

The Prodigy is a *dripping friendly* device. You'll see in several posts on here that both Steve and I have stressed not using cartridges with it because the 5v is simply too hot for them. Many people have melted carts or just simply vaped them dry and burned out their attys using them. Bottom line: don't use cartridges on it. You'll get that burning taste, and risk ruining your atomizers.

Casey also needs to know that used correctly cartridges work just fine.

gjrhine,

I have heard about some users having no issues with cartridges, but the majority of the time, many users issues stem from using them. The device was not designed for cartridge use, therefore we cannot recommend it. That's not to say that every single person will have an issue, but many will, and especially those who are experiencing their first high voltage device.

i think one thing that is often overlooked (but often expressed too...) is that your "inhale" style may affect this too.

anymore, i simply cannot "throat" inhale like a normal cig with ANY model of ecig, especially Prodigy. for ME PERSONALLY, again, do what you like best, but FOR ME...i prefer to pull the vapor with my mouth/cheeks, then inhale to my lungs. better flavor, less chance for a burnt taste.

of course you can't take huge 15 second hits taht way, but you don't need to with a Prodigy. you're sortof limited to only a few seconds, which helps the life of the atty anyway :)

I use carts and hate dripping. The cart I am using now I have been refilling for several weeks without issue. It will wick out about 10 drops before it needs refilling. No problem with atomizers. They last me about a month. Still using my supply of old style 801 atomizers with the low arch though. Hate the new high arch ones. Put a bug in Cash's ear about getting some low arch 801s for those who like carts. I am running low

I am having good luck with the RN style mini atomizers (low bridge) wicking very well. When I switch to the high arch SLB 901s they don't wick at all. So you guys are right about the low bridge atomizers being more cart friendly. I also notice that taking shorter puffs helps a lot also. Like Flitz said, I just take a few short puffs about 2-3 seconds and I am good. Set it down for a while and when I pick it back up good to go again. When it tastes a bit dry or burnt I add a few drops (3-4) or top off the cart. Been working good for me anyway. Everybody is different.

As for the RN 4075 or low bridge atomizers. The ONLY place I can find them is Ruyan direct and cleansafesmoke.com (china) Just got some from there last week. Work very well and produce much more vapor than the SLBs... From talking to a few suppliers, they say that they don't carry the RN anymore because of the high return or failure rate. Seems that the SLBs are a little better quality as far as that goes. I have 7 SLBs and 2 RNs and prefer the RN.... The RN floods quicker but wick carts dry. The SLB is good for dripping because they hold more liquid under the atomizer. IMHO.....lol.... ;)

Hey Brian,

Unfortunately there aren't low bridge attys in the near future over here- too many issues with them in the past. Glad to hear that you're not having trouble with carts, but again, the Prodigy was really designed to handle a lot of dripping.

I ordered some M201 atomizers from Midwest Vapor to give them a try. Would rather order from Puresmoker though.

justrubl,

When my atty gets too dry, it is very harsh. One other thing to look at -- is this a new atty? If so, you may be burning off the primer, which can be VERY harsh and disgusting tasting. Of my new attys that I got from PS, 3 burned off very quickly but 1 persistent bugger stayed foul for over a day. Fine now though.

If you think this might be the case, rinse it out and reprime it with your nicquid.

Brian, I totally agree! I could vape most of a day with the low bridge on the Prodigy. I can't use a cart with high bridge. (801's, by the way). I just ordered 5 from Eastmall. Don't like ordering from overseas, but after posting a few messages here, it seems they are one of the few still selling the low bridge. I still have my original NJOY low bridge from Sept 08, and it's still running.

Dripping is awsome with the Prodigy, but I drive a lot for work, and that is not dripping friendly. I need the low bridge for that. I'll let you know next week when I get my shipment and verify they are low ones.

Great. I get more vapor from using a cart than dripping, but I may be doing it wrong. David Yang still has the low bridge and advertises they are special low resistance ones. He must have read my thread about testing atomizers.
