Hi:
I've been smoking analogs for close to 40 years and want to quit. I was given an 801 two years ago for Xmas that only did the trick for a month. After thirty days it just didn't quench the smoking urge. Three months ago I bought a Smokeless Image KR 808. I like this type of e-cig and even got some great juice yet it still isn't doing the trick especially when I get stressed. I don't know if I need to go up to a 501 or Ego. I have read that some people were only able to kick the habit after upgrading to an Ego. I know they produce more vapor yet if I take too big of a draw on my 808 I cough as its too strong :blink:..... I feel damned if I do and damned if I don't.

I have also wondered if the 16mg nicotine level juice I'm using could have something to do with it; if in fact I need to go up to 20 to 22mg's of nicotine. Like everybody else I don't have a lot of extra cash to be trying new kits without fairly good assurance a new kit would help. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I'm tired of rolling cigarettes and want to be analog free. Thank you ahead of time to anybody

that has any advice or ideas. Have a good one!

Hi Kitty Katie and welcome to ECF. I was a 40+ yr smoker 1 PAD very strong analogs before I began vaping. I went straight to a Mod because I was desperate. I began on 36 mg and now, 3 months later, am vaping 20 mg. In the New Year I'll be going down to 15 mg. 16 mg is quite low to be starting at and I would suggest prolly 24 mg. The Smokeless Image KR 808 is a great PV and I believe the problem lies with your Nic content. Have you any favorite flavors? You could buy the juice separate and fill your own cartomizers...it's quite easy and saves a lot of $$.

hey there :)

Personally I think you just need a higher nicotine level. When I started using e cigs I barely thought about regular cigarettes and I think it's because I was getting all the nicotine I needed...plus way more haha. Ive noticed that I smoke more than I did with traditional cigarettes, so extra nicotine :/ now I use 12mg so I can "smoke" more and not overdose or deepen my addiction haha.

good luck!

Welcome, Kitty Katie. I really think the problem is your juice, not your 808. Blue Mist Vaping is reasonably priced and has quite a lot of choices.

You could order a couple of sample packs and give different flavors a try. Good luck.

Don't order the crab juice.

Ego is lower voltage than the KR8 and 510 may be a bit lower than Ego just because 510's battery life is short so it does not hold its best voltage up very long. if you use 3 ohm Boge cartos on an Ego or 510 it will be a cooler smoother hit with the same juice vs using Smokeless Image which is 3.6v w/ a 2.6ohm carto.

And I saw nothing at all in your post that would help people suggest a nicotine level to try. These are what I suggest for various smokers
Full strength cigs -> 24mg
Lights -> 16-18mg
Ultralights -> 10-12mg

And by suggest I mean that is what I think feels about the same. I have smoked all 3 strengths of cigarettes for extended periods during my decades of smoking. And I only mean to TRY that level and also try one up and maybe one down. Everybody is different. And it also depends on your equipment, how my VG is in your liquid (dulls flavor and hit, add some nice vapor)

Re your 808 model - if you bought auto batteries you are not getting the best hit you can. And most 808's are a bit hard to get a great hit on due to their 5 second cutoff. I mostly use V4L batteries (same threading) which have a 10 second cutoff.

I think go with Ego (or for 3.7v a nice Riva 510 from Liberty-Flights.com and i recommend the SE model with 3-clik enable/disable to make it safer to pocket)- then you have nice sealed manual batteries and a whole world of inexpensive 510-threaded cartomizers and atomizers you can use to change your vaping experience. However almost all will be blank - you will be filling them.

I'd suggest going to a higher VG content 24mg juice to reduce the throat hit, but still deliver the nic. An eGo or 510 isn't going to deliver a better vape than your 808, (unless it's an auto like dormouse said).

I mostly use CE2's, but when I feel the need for a serious vape session to really kick my nic craving in the teeth, I fire up a 2ohm dual coil carto at 5v on my mod filled with DIY 60/40 PG/VG 20mg juice.

If all else fails, and you do smoke a analog, just don't quit vaping. Stay with it even if you just manage to cut way down on the analogs.

I was in about the same boat when I tried my first e-Cig. I could'nt get over the hump using 18mg e-Liquid and kept falling back to analogs.

I desperation I tried 32mg and found that I could get thru the First 2 weeks after going Cold Turkey on Analogs.

After about the first month I moved down to 24mg. Then after awhile I moved to 18mg. Now I do 18mg during the day and 0mg a lot at night.

Try a Higher mg and I think things will work out better.

I think that will help. My mom needed 36 to completely get off cigs even though it was strong. Now she vapes 6 mg. It was a slow progression but it worked for her.

I think this is a Good Example.

Maybe people starting of Need Higher mg to make the switch. But afterwards, ease back on the mg.

Also One thing that New Vapers sometimes don't consider is that analogs mg is rated on the Average Absorption Amount for a Average Smoker. Where as e-Liquid is the Total Amount of Nicotine in 1 ml of e-Liquid.

Everyone is different. But if a New Vaper is having problems with Cravings I would suggest that they increase the mg.
