Hi guys, I'm a noob at RBAs.(First post out of the New Member's Area!) I've done a few protank 2 microcoil rebuilds, and finally got it to work right. But I hate how small everything is. And that rubber grommet. so I think I'd like to get into the RBA thing.

What I have already/what I'd like to be able to do:

VAMO V2 (primary use for RBA), VMOD XL
Kanthal 28ga A1
Organic cotton balls

Id like a RBA tank that can be filled without the screw-on bottle top syringe. (this may be negotiable, as I'm kinda leaning towards a Fogger V2. Knowing me, I'd lose that little screw the first week.)

tank hold at least 3 mL. Pyrex tank.
Ease of rewicking/recoiling. I'm not going to get extravagant here.
Single coil-if I can pull this off and like it, I'll eventually move up to dual.
I'll be wrapping 11-12 times around 1/16" bit, cotton wick pulled through. I will be using cotton for all wicks. I might eventually try ekowool, but it seems people are migrating away from that.

Id like to spend less than $50.
I'd very much like to be able to lay it down on its side without leaking.

Also while I have your attention, it seems some of you are creating a cotton bed under your coils. These other threads are huge and I can't find the eureka moment of why you do this. Is it a bed, or actually really long wicks?

Any other tips?

I think the underlying layer is to prevent a short, I've heard that if your coil touches the base/deck that it can happen. Not positive about that though.

I'm in the same boat as you, same setup looking for my first rba with similar specifications to what you request. I'll be watching this thread....

And yeah, those little rubber grommets on the protanks suck lol.

I assume you have read the Fogger thread and have noted the issues people are having with it. I had to do some minor grinding with a dremel (to widen the wick channels) to get anywhere even close to not having dry hits. I'm not bashing the Fogger, just reminding you that there is an added frustration factor with that particular rba.

I hate bandwagon jumping, but I have recently been converted to bottom coil rbas, and can easily recommend the Russian/Kayfuns. Out of your price range, but capable of what you are looking to build but without some of the frustrations.

Or look into dripping atomizers like the Igo l. Again easy to build without a lot of frustration out of the box.

I received my Igo-L last nite. I have never build a coil before, but I had it up and running with a 3/4 wrap @ 2.0 in about 5 minutes. "THIS" is what I was afraid of?!? If I had know that rebuilding was this easy, I would have started doing it months ago.

thanks for the replies, guys! I will read more about the Fogger. I did a bit of reading and saw Matt's video. I *might* just spring for the Russian 91% (my first choice, cost is crazy.)

As for the IGO-L, I thought that was a dripper. I want to be mobile, without carrying a bottle of juice everywhere. Unless you are talking about this 2in1 system, where you can use a tank. I take it you reload juice by inverting it? Seen below:

The Agi is a hybrid genny/dripper that would be prone to leaking if it wasn't set up just so in its genesis mode. The beauty of drippers is the small amount of juice you put in them and vape off immediately. No need to leave it full to leak. Unlike a genny.

By the way, the bottom coil (air pressure feeding) devices generally don't leak. Its a benefit of their design.

Eta: read, read read. It will save you a lot of time and money (that you will eventually spend on other vaping gear ;-))

Well I think if he can build a protank he shouldn't have too much trouble with a fogger v2 or a kayfun.

Here is some info I was dropped on a similar question, hope it helps:

Get a multimeter, look up batitudes battery chart, find an ohms law calculator, superxdrifters microcoil vid, theres lots of vids out there but his is one stop shopping. Most importantly read and keep reading the rebuildable forum until you understand why to/why not to do certain things, and why the first 3 things are so critical. Physically building coils is the easy part, knowing why your building what your building takes some time that you don't want to rush.

To the OP, do you have a VMOD XL? You should check out a reomizer. It is around $43 and it is a bottom feeding RBA. It works great on a REO.

The RM2 won't work on the Vmod XL... The smaller diameter will not hold the shell onto the chassis. The Igo-L on the other hand will. It takes some modification for this to work, but the reward is outstanding... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...squid-rda-bottom-feed-mod-6.html#post10949943

And if you want to get creative....28ga. 10/11 wrap .9Ω dual twisted wire micro coil...

I'm yet another fan of the kayfun type designs. The small chamber provides a stellar vape that equals a good dripping atty imo. If you'd like to try the design before committing to one of the high end ones, and you like a metal mouth piece, take a look at the rocket from fasttech. Here's a thread on it if you'd like to read more. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-systems/479743-rocket-tank-kayfun-clone.html
