Ugh this kind of question has been a difficult one to answer lately. The Smoketek RSST is a good genesis style atomizer to start with. However, building a coil with mesh is something that even experienced RBA builders get frustrated with, so it might not be the best introduction to the 'scene.'

My first build that I fell in love with was the Kayfun Lite. It retails for $110+, so it might not be where you want to start, if you are on a budget. It seems as though Tobeco has made a decent clone, The Rocket Tank. I am pretty interested in this one, but it is a tank you should wait to read some reviews on. It looks like it will be around $40. There is another clone of the KFL, The Russian 91%, but again, it retails for around $100 as well. Definitely not for those on a budget.

The Fogger V2 seems to be getting some good reviews as well. I have one on its way, but haven't had the chance to get this guy up in action. This may be a good place to start as it is also around $30-$40.

I have used the aga t and t2, the rsst and finally the Russian with my SVD (Vamo, MVP, and Drawtube mech). The hardest to set up out of the bunch, but the one I used most because I really like the vape was the aga t2. However, I can say Russian is almost as easy to set up as the rsst because it's a silica build rather than mesh.

There will be a learning curve to whatever you buy. And we can all attest to the fact that it most likely will not be the last rba you buy, so just buy them all and be done with it. ;-)

As for wick and wire, wire probably 30 or 32 gauge because you will most likely be targeting your resistance above 1.5 ohms; too many wraps takes too long to heat up. Wick really depends on your taste and the device you are building on. Most use mesh in Genesis style rbas but silica, ceramic rods and cotton (organic cotton balls, butcher twine, etc) are fairly common as well. Many people use silica or cotton in the bottom coil and dripper style rbas. Again, it's all down to experimentation and what you find you like. Buy and try everything, it's a big world out there.

And lastly, no one vendor has the best deals on wick and wire, tho temco is hard to beat for wire. There are many suppliers. Keep reading the forums and the same vendor names will keep popping up. And you'll get an idea where to start looking.

Good luck and keep asking questions.

If you want to try ss mesh wick, take a look at the ss Atty from Fasttech. (Search Fasttech for 'atty'). There a couple different versions, so use the drop down to select the ss version with glass tank.

I'm a huge fan of the dream bt804s, but they do have their niggles so be sure and research them first. Search China Sells for a good price but I don't know anything about that vendor. The early version is chrome plated brass, and the v2 version is stainless.

The V2 version of the Fogger is getting some attention and you might want to check it out.
