You really shouldn't use a car charger on any of these. Any time something clicks on or off in the car, there is a surge in the power before the regulater can handle it. That will drastically shorten battery life. Keeping extra batteries is best. I have 3 pairs for my Snow Wolf and plan on getting more. I like to let the batteries rest for an hour or so before charging and the same after charging before using. Any batteries can be dangerous, and high output 18650's aren't nice when they go so I do my best to limit the risks. Using the mod while charging creates surges as well, not something I would want to risk. An extra $15-20 for a charger and some extra batteries could double or more the life of the batteries, saving you money in the long run as well as keeping you safer.

I really was not aware of any if this. I heard there where risks, but I assumed that if the quality of the product was what it should be then I shouldn't worry to much. I currently have a dual battery charger that's maybe 3 years old that was the best at the time (from what I was told) with over charge protection, so I should be good with that one. I really don't mind swapping batteries, especially if it will prolong battery life and help with safely. I'll drop the charging port requirement or at least not charge and vape since there seem to be a consensus against it.

The Subox mini kit includes the Subtank mini. So all you would need is batteries and juice. It is a single battery mod. 50 watts

The iStick 100w is just the mod. It is a dual battery mod. !00 watts

Edit; The Subox has a fixed center pin in the 510 connector. The iStick 100w has a spring loaded center pin.
What is the difference or benefits of either? Same with 100W vs 50W? I didn't feel 100 would ever be used and I heard it can cause more dry hits.

I have no need for anything over about 20 watts. Some vapers like to sub ohm, for that, they need higher watts.

I was really just pointing out the differences between two that were recommended in previous posts.

Your OP stated that you wanted at least 50 watts and removable batteries. If that isn't a requirement, there are a lot more choices available.

For most beginner to intermediate vapers, I recommend one of the 30-40 watt mods. Most of those have a built in battery. They also are in the same price range as the two I was comparing. Since you don't need to buy separate batteries, they are a lower initial investment.

I know that the Subox kit is highly recommended here but one thing I don't like about it is that the center pin in the 510 connection is fixed. Spring loaded center pins are becoming more common because they self adjust to different tanks.

A chip designed for 100 watts will be under less stress at 50 watts than a 50 watt chip at max. If you don't want a bigger 2 battery mod like a Sig 150 or an IPV3Li, you could look at the Sig75 or IPV4. All of them can be found for under $100 online. Try to find some locally to look at in person and see how they fit your hand. If you find others not mentioned in this thread that you like, ask about them here. Just buy online to save cash. Locally, I see mods priced double what they are online...

It is the surges in power. When you fire the mod, the power to the battery drops. The charger starts bringing it back up then you quit firing the mod and it jumps. Batteries like a steady flow of power for charging purposes. Some chips may handle this, or just quit charging when you fire the mod, but it is not something I want to rely on.
To clarify, you are referring to charging in the car and vaping, not using the pass through to charge the mod at the home?

Both. Several mod makers tell you specifically not to charge in your vehicle due to the variations in power. But firing a mod while it is charging at home does the same. It's not something I would recommend. I am a bit of a safety nazi, but batteries can be dangerous.

I can understand that. I'm more of the "that would never happen to me" type that's one reason why i'm using this dented Samsung battery. it just seems weird that they would market it as a pass-through knowing that would increase the risk.

You all have given me plenty of work and things to think about. i'm still sifting through the mods. I'm very temped to just get the subox mini kit to start and save myself the trouble, however the though of a dual battery mod in that price range is very temping.

The most difficult choice seems to be the tank. Though i'm not sure if you can truly know until you try them, the ones that have been suggested look amazing. I have read lots of talk about rebuildable atomizers. Although i'm technically savvy, i'm not ready to start building coils just yet, though i would like to in the future. In the mean time i would like tank with coils i can find farly easily locally or online. any suggestion on a tank that i can vape on until i want to start building coils? Looking for good clouds but more flavor.

EDIT:
What would be the suggestions if i changed my requirements
Required:
Dual battery MOD
High amp replaceable 18650 battery
Usb charging port on MOD
Good airflow on tank (with cool vape)
Variable voltage/wattage
Under $100 with tank and batteries

I think, with a dual 18650 box mod setup, you might need to spend a little over $100

The Eleaf 100W is a good option for the Box.
But you will want at least 4 batteries starting out.. 18650 LG 18650HG2 3000mAh High Discharge Flat Top
As for a tank I would suggest the Horizon Tech Arctic Tank
Arctic Sub Ohm Tank Atomizer by Horizon Tech

Battery Charger Efest LUC Multifunction Charger - RTD vapor

Just some ideas..
My thoughts exactly on the 4 batteries. I'm glad the ones you posted are 3000mAh and at a good price. I think i'm now leaning toward the iStick... now i just have to look into a black tank that blows cool clouds that i can find coils for locally and use buildables later.

Are most of the Kanger tanks similar in that aspect? I know the areotank and pro tank don't use sub ohm coils.

The Kanger Subtank line should all use the same Coils if thats what you asking?

Aerotank, Protank, etc use different coils than the Subtanks.

Yeah pretty much. The term mini makes me think it'll be smaller or have less capacity so if I could get a bigger one with the same coils that I can rebuild later that would be perfect.
