The SubTank mini is a good tank. There are better flavor and cloud tanks out there, but it is a good place to start and is versatile. 1.2ohm, .5ohm and .15ohm temp control coils are all readily avalible. And the RBA if you want to build your own.

I would try to get a little more money together and go for something other than the 100watt iStick though. It is fairly new and the most powerful mod ELeaf makes. I don't think they have been out long enough to show it will last yet.

Talking like that might make me start from square one o_O. The money isn't the issue thoigh, it's more so I want to get something that I own (borrowing from a co-worker now) that can give me similar results to what I see most having. Since I'm still fairly new to this I want my first purchase to be economical and not outweigh the money I'd have spent on cigarettes. Don't need the best but solid bang for the budget.

I was getting excited and about to order the iStick. I understand that new tech can have downsides but that's why I was asking for quality options. What are the other tanks that you suggest that might fit what I'm looking for?

I've had good luck with iSticks before, but I've read horror stories as well. The 50 watts has a pretty bad rep even though I didnt have any problems with mine. I'm just slow to recommend something new with that big of a jump in power. If you went with an IPV3Li or Sig150, you wouldn't have to worry about future upgrades. I personally like temp control, although some do not.

Everyone has different likes and dislikes in tanks. It really depends on what you like. I liked my SubTank mini, but love my Smok TCT. More airflow, more flavor and it works better with temp control that the Kanger coils did. I recently got a Heracles and like it as well. More clouds, better flavor than the TCT but no temp control. The coils for both of them cost more than SubTank coils though although the TCT coils last way longer for me. The first thing you should do is see what coils are avalible locally. It's cheaper to buy online, but nice to know you can get them locally if needed. Find out what you can get your hands on easily and let us know. From there you can get more opinions about specific tanks. The SubTank mini is a common, usually easy to find coils for. A lot of others aren't as mainstream and may not be carried be every vape shop around.

Another vote for the Subox mini - it's a game-changer. All-in for £50 & blowing clouds like a pro (especially, but not only, with the RDA).

I had a Vamo prior to my Subox - what a difference!
A game changer, really? What does it have that nothing else has?

Agree with everything you said,I also have istick 50w no trouble but heard stories,I picked up the 100w as a first removable battery mod.and can't beat the price considering I need batteries and charger, figured if it goes I can pick up an upgrade and now have everything else I need

Also when buying batteries try to stick with the supplier I linked which is Illumination Supply Illumn.com - Flashlights, Batteries, Carry Gear, Intelligent LED Lighting, and More!
or
RTDVapor.com

OrbTronic 18650 Batteries | Rechargeable Li-ion | Battery Chargers

They are Reliable, cheap, and have always sold Authentic batteries.. Do not try to buy off Ebay or Amazon..
is there a visible difference between the 20A and the 35A constant drain batteries when it comes to mod and vape experience?
