i need a 5v wiring layout that isnt using a 4 prong regulator and pcb. If anyone can sketch something together that would be awesome.

this should work. crappy artwork, but it's a 3 post regulator with a switch in place. you want to use at least a 3amp reg.

... and a 3A switch. If you are using a triple AA box with on/off switch, you will need to replace that also with one capable of at least 3A. Mine did not last more than 2 months.

It doesnt have a on/off switch. its a 4"x2"x1" project box from ratshack. Its an 18650 5v beast.
