Thanks for the replies everyone. It just came down to user error. I've got it working well now, even with a contact coil. I'm probably going to try a spaced coil when I pull this one out. I'm just having trouble with how soft this wire is. I had a couple wraps overlaping.

Good to hear! It does force you into becoming a master coil builder. Not such a bad thing.

I disagree...the learning curve is very easy.... It boils down to 2 things:

1 - Don't build contact coils.
2 - Make sure the connection is rock solid.

Easy.

Well yeah....now....lol. It took a good bit of trial and error to get there though.
