Hi everyone! Sorry for the long post

I am brand new to the forum but have been vaping for around 10 months now, previously I vaped a bit in 2010 but back then the hardware and juice just wasn't good enough to keep me off cigs. At the moment I rebuild coils, use mechs as well as VV/VW mods and I've got a little collection of tanks and rba's. The question however is not about my vaping but rather my girlfriends vaping.

She has a weird way of making EVERY single delivery system taste like burnt plastic! The longest a brand new coil lasts her is 4 days and that is a really long time for her. She has tried bottom coil, top coil, single coil, dual coil, low resistance, high resistance, cotton wicked coils, silica wicked coils and so on

Brands including: Innokin, Kangertech, Vapeonly and others I can't remember.

I tried to get her to use an RDA but she says its too intense even with low nic, VG juices.

I've also given her pure PG juice, Pure VG juice and everything in between yet she always gets the burning taste within hours. All of the above mentioned has been used on the following batteries: Innokin itaste vv3.0(hers) VVtwist battery(mine) tons of normal ego style batteries from various sources.

She is on the verge of smoking again because of this and I really don't know what the hell to think and do!

I also gave her a BDCC of mine which I used to vape at 5volts for 2 weeks with drilled out air holes and it tasted burnt within a day, I then put a new coil in and again it tasted burnt within 2 days so its not the hardware as the hardware works fine with me and I am a heavy vaper that likes to rev my watts/volts right up(used to smoke cigars often). Im thinking that she might have weird vaping habits? Maybe she takes long drags or something? Any suggestion or possible solutions?

I've been thinking she should maybe try an RBA or Genesis style atomizer...are those generally as intense as RDA's?

Thanx a lot guys really appreciate it!

Since this is only happening to her, even using your own gear (which was working fine for you), common sense seems to point to her vaping style. Have you closely observed her vaping technique? Short or long draws? Hard or soft pulls?

Clearomizers are the designed to be plug and play easy. However that simple design can lead to issues for some vapers. They only use tiny wicks and coils, and a heavy vaper can demand more performance-wise than they are capable of.

The only clearomizer that I might suggest trying would be the new Mini Nautilus from Aspire. These use a revolutionary new bottom vertical coil system with a ceramic wick. Some have called this wick to be a hybrid between a cartomiser and a clearo head. I've read nothing but good things about these, and have actually vaped a couple of them at my local vape shop. Undoubtedly the top clearo tank on the market.

Aside from that, if she's not ready to step up to an RBA, I'd suggest the old tried-and-true cartotank. These have become the forgotten stepchild in vaping lately, but they were my all-day vaping attachment for over 2 years before I got my Kayfun and rebuildable drippers. These perform way better than any clearomizer, with better flavor and consistancy. The cartos will get replaced every 10 - 20 days just like a coil head in a clearomizer.

Might be she is inhaling too strongly, hard fast pulls lead to dry wicking material.
After a couple hard fast pulls / drags / hits in a row without allowing enough time for the wick to re saturate = burnt.
Inhalation technique vaping versus smoking is different, when folks get burnt taste at low/normal V/W ranges using normal ohm range delivery devices more often than not the culprit is hard fast long strong rapid inhalation.
Sweet, dark, artificially colored or sweetened juice burns & gunks up coils easier.

Quit switching from thing to thing, you've already come the conclusion that everything has a burnt taste.
Instead invest the time to learn how to make ONE device work properly! Take your choice, someone has figured out how to use every device you mentioned without getting a burnt taste.

My conclusion; she is pulling vapor off the coil faster than the wick can supply juice to the coil. So tell her to stop trying to suck the battery up through the atomizer!

    Add:
Bad, a carto will do the same thing if you try to pull vapor faster than it can wick fluid to the coil.
So the solution would remain the same ........... SLOW DOWN

It's nothing new, HELL what happens to a cigarette if you smoke it to fast & furious.

Bad mentioned everything that came to mind. Sounds like she maybe "hotboxing" the PV. Very similar to what happens when hotboxing a cig-it gets hot, even the filter seems hot on the lips. With a PV, it can burn the coils, possibly even the juices and it will taste burnt.

Also, again like Bad mentioned, the Nautilus standard or mini tank with BVC coils would be a perfect set up for her. But she still needs to learn to let the coils cool off between vapes and slow down

If she is finding that she has to vape harder and more frequently than the average vaper, perhaps she should increase her nicotine concentration in her e-liquid.

I have a buddy who somehow smoked 3 - 4 packs of cigarettes a day. He currently drips 12 or 18 mg on a RDA, and still sneaks a cig or two a day. Some people's nic requirement surpasses what most of us would consider normal.

I believe nothing wrong with devices.
As others mentioned check her vaping technique. Most important: does she tend to press button too early (well in advance to a drag), or does she sometimes press a button with no drag at all? Are her drags too weak or too strong? May a button be pressed when not vaping (in purse for example)? Does she like to play with voltage?

My wife has kinda had this issue in the past. Coils would go south on her in no time. Come to find out the reason was actually the opposite of what you would think. She was taking very small short puffs. I mean literally the button would be pressed for like half a second... Barely enough time for the coil to even start to fire... As a result the juice was kinda carmelizing? on the coils, and then subsequently burning. Her coils would be REALLY bad nasty gunky black crude swamp thing looking when they came out. She now takes slightly longer draws, but I also have her fire it BEFORE she starts to puff and let's it continue to fire after she puffs... Not long, just half a second or so.. But as a result the entire firing last like 1 1/2 seconds now instead of 1/2 second! LOL. It helped a lot in her case.

Wow thanx for all the quick replies!

The last few weeks she has been vaping at 3.3v on her Itaaste:unsure:
I know it sounds far fetched but it still burned! haha
Right here. I had this problem when I got started. Using low volts but depressing the button until the automatic shutoff kicks in or chaining the button press to get the sensation of the longer draw of a cigarette. It sounds insane but I'm pretty sure the sustained heat from chain vaping at low voltage burns out the coils faster, or doesn't fully vaporize the juice it pulls through and then burns it on the following draws. Try to adjust it as close to 8 watts as possible, or a bit above. Hope this helps.
