Hello all. I just got my Joye 510 yesterday (looking forward to getting off analogs), but it did not come with any instructions or documentation and as I know almost nothing about the world of e-cigs, I'm hoping some of you here can lend your expertise.

So a couple of questions.
1) Is there anywhere online the instructions book for the 510? (I searched but couldn't find anything specific)
2) Do the batteries need an initial chargeup, and if so, how long? Is there any indicator for when the batteries are fully charged?
3) How long does the atomizer last? When do I know when it needs replacing?
4) What's the deal with cartridges? the nicotine is in there but is it a liquid that you have to worry about spilling out if you turn the cartridge upside down?
5) What is dipping and what can it do for me?

Sorry for asking such basic questions, but I wanna make sure I do this right. Thanks!!

I don't know of any specific place to find directions. Contact your supplier for an information/instruction booklet. If you ordered from China, one of us can send you one of ours if you still think you really need one. They are not much just a small folded booklet with basics we can tell you here.
2) Do the batteries need an initial chargeup, and if so, how long? Is there any indicator for when the batteries are fully charged?
A few suppliers ship batteries already charged. Your's is probably not. The booklet would have said to charge for a full 8 hours regardless of the light (on the charger) changing to green at any time during charging. Then..use for 20 minutes, then charge again for another hour. Most of us can't wait and use it when it turns green. It is a general consensis that it does not matter as to the life of your batteries. Do as you see fit. If you have two batteries, I would say go ahead and use the first one when the light turns green. Put the second one in to charge following the booklets directions.
3) How long does the atomizer last? When do I know when it needs replacing?
Atomizer life varies. Depends on how you use it, how much you use it, and can even depend on how and who manufactured it. Thus, it is wise to always have extras on hand. Figure 2 weeks, if you get more great!
4) What's the deal with cartridges? the nicotine is in there but is it a liquid that you have to worry about spilling out if you turn the cartridge upside down?
5) What is dipping and what can it do for me?
Dipping is for an exposed atomizer. Your 510 atomizer is not exposed, so you don't need to worry about that. But, the technique that is simular to use on the 510 is called dripping. You take off the whole cartridge, remove the filler fiber and plastic liquid reservior the filler fiber was in (tweezers are best for this job). Then place two drops of liquid onto the atomizer, replace the empty mouth piece and vape. When the vapor reduces significantly you place another 2 drops on the atomizer and vape some more. This is used in place of the filled fiber cartridge. You may prefer one or the other methods, or both.

Sorry for asking such basic questions, but I wanna make sure I do this right. Thanks!!

Who did you order from? Do you have extra attys, batteries and some liquid? If not you may want to make a second purchase very soon. Hope this answers some of your questions. Welcome to ECF and best of luck to you.:)

Whoops!, forgot to say you should not have any problem with the cartridges leaking, that is unless you overfill them. Just get busy and give that 510 a try and let us know how you like it. Tee Hee...

A little more that might be helpful..... is that if you do have the manual battery. Press it one second before starting to draw and release one second before ending your draw. Do not hold the button down for more than five seconds.

Where are you? I bet you are already using it. Tee, hee!

Thanks for the answers!! How do I know if I have an automatic or manual batterY?

Purchased the starter kit from Cigtechs. I do have an extra of everything, but will need to order some more cartridges to keep on hand.

WELL...have you tried it yet. Inquiring minds want to know!?

I've taken a few puffs and it's interesting. The stock "tobacco" tastes a little weird but maybe I need to order some more traditional tasting stuff. But I am really stoked to get of the cigs.

One more noob question :) The cartridges have some kind of semi-solid stuff packed in there. You're supposed to leave that because it's part of the "smoke," right?

Damn, you're evasive in your questions? What are you talking about? Are you talking about the glue some manufactures use in the bottom of the carts? You are quite the mystery, intended?

I believe you are confusing my evasiveness and mystery with complete ignorance. I'm still learning all the terms and components of the e-cig.

In the cartridge, there is a "fibrous" looking substance that I assume is part of the stuff you smoke.

Anyways, I'm on day two and I'm planning on using the e-cig more to control cravings rather than taking it up as a habit (which is what will probably happen. Once an addict, always an addict)

Now I just need to add one of the analog free signs which count the days and amount of money saved. Could someone please tell me how to acquire one?
