Well I took the delrin cover off and took out the pin and positive contact. I don't really see anything wrong, not that i would know what wrong looked it like if it flew up and hit me in the eye. I guess I;m going to have to PM the modmaster and try and trouble shoot this. I'll post back when it gets resolved.

Thanks all!

Eh spoke too soon. Put a battery in the grand this morning and immediately got a weak hit and worse, smelled something burning (not the wick). I think i have a short somewhere. Nothing to it now but to take it apart and see what's happening. Wish me luck!
Send it in with the atty if you can

Please put
a note with your email address and a brief description of the problem . Also
empty any e juice in the mod and remove the bottle . Please clean the mod if its a mechanical mod flush the mod with hot water and soap .

I think what has happened is your positive contact is pitted from all the misfiring and your batteries . What you need is a new positive contact , Also you should take some 3000 grit sandpaper and very lightly clean up the tops of your batteries with the sand paper .

Alright, I'm updating this thread in case someone has the same problem. I did what Rob suggested and he hit the nail right on the head. The old contact looked kinda tarnished and with the new contact and using AWs the mod is firing as it should be.

I agree with Rex Everything, I think the problem lay in the LG button tops. The button was severely pitted which I guess means that contact was too localized around a tiny spot. The LG batt is a bit taller and wider than the AWs, I guess it didn't line up well with the positive contact of the mod. I will stop using the LGs on my Grand. I've got a couple of Samsung 25r button tops coming. Will update here if I have problems with those as well.

Thanks for all your help reoville!

Put a reo door magnet on top of that LG bat. Will even fix it like new if the battery is also pitted which I bet it is if the reo contact was. Bat will hold and stay in place basicly and you'll never have to touch it.. even on the charger it will stay put. So slap a reo door magnet on a flat top battery to convert it to a button top. ;)

It came back from rob perfect. It was working fine for a few days before it got temperemental. Come to think of it, i was using the LGs on it those few days and it was fine. So i still dont really know what the problem is. Btw, the LGs are button tops so i dont think the magnet would work on it :)

Got samsung 25r button tops in today. They look exactly the same size as the LGs so I'm thinking i'm going to be having the same problem. I'll stick with AWs for now

I had the same symptoms on one of my Grands. I was destroying the buttons of some button top HE2's. The button & positive contact were getting hot enough to vaporize the deoxit! In the efforts of trouble shooting, my positive contact got hot enough to melt into the push button! That's when I stopped messing around.

I stripped it all down, cleaned thoroughly, replace the positive contact & push button. Everything is good now. I still am not sure what the cause was. I even cleaned up the button top of one of the HE2's with 3000 grit sandpaper, and seems to be working fine too. Gremlins?

kewl, glad you were able to change out the + contact and all is good now. Also glad you won't be using the 25r button tops. Karen had tried those and she said that it compressed the spring way too much for her liking, didn't really give it enough room to drop in a grand.

I've had this issue in the past so I installed new positive contacts but it began again very recently with my black wrinkle. I just sat down with some 2500 grit sand paper and lightly "polished" the head of the positive contact, very lightly. This grand is now firing up like it should, it was getting very weak so I knew something was interfering with the contact. I did the same thing on my batteries, lightly polished the tops with the 2500 grit. I usually use a white eraser but that wasn't cutting it this time so I tried something I think most reonauts wouldn't recommend but if you're careful it will work.

yes you will the 25rs didnt work either.....I went through 5 contacts before i gave up on button tops all together...6 months on the same contact since i switched to flat tops...i probably should get some AWs but I'm kinda in that "if it ain't broke" mode at this point.
