Hi all,

I received my reo grand last week and love it. I fitted a small cell phone case for the stealth factor (see attached pics).

I tried a few attys out (all new) on the grand at 6v to see what i liked. 510 SR is great, no problem. IKV's HR 306 doesn't fit??-it wont seat down all the way, but it does on my riva. Tried a shorty IKV HR 801, and IKV HR 901-both ok, but, suprisingly, not as good as the SR 510 in terms of hit and flavor.

Now here is where the question is. Tried a SR 901, died within 10 minutes. I dont know if the voltage burned the atty or if it was a dud. Then tried a SR 801 and nothing happened-but I did smell a little plasticky smell. Pushed the button a few times, and the same. So just took off the atty and went back to the 510. But then I noticed that the button was going down too low and checked inside. I ended up taking out the firing button (through the inside) and saw that the plastic button had melted where it came in contact with the firing pin. I was able to cut off the excess plastic with a razor blade and replace. It seems to be fine since friday.

I am confused-is there a problem with using SR attys at 6 V. If this is the case, there has been no problem with the SR 510s at all. Anybody experience this melting. Was I doing something wrong (of course used an adapter-avids stealth adapters)? Can I buy a few firing buttons for backup? Finally, have you heard of problems with IKV HV 306 fitting the grand?

Thanks for the responses. DDD:blink::vapor::2cool:

Hi DDD....so it sounds like you "cooked" your mod if your button melted. If you were using an 901 on there, then you must have used an adapter. The adapter is more than likely the culprit. I would mark it and avoid using it on the mod again. If the mod has shorted as a result, you should replace the spring....and the button. You can either send it back to Rob, or if you feel comfortable doing it yourself, he can send you the parts. Be sure to check your atties, and your battery with the MM to make sure they're okay. :)

Be sure to send Rob a PM to let him know what happened.

Nice Grand by the way! :)

*edit...no, I haven't heard of IKV HV 306s not fitting the grand....and no, I don't think you were doing anything wrong.

Thanks. I used new avid vaper stealth adapters. Does that mean that both their 901 and 801 adapters were bad? I did use them for the ikv hv 901 and 801 without a problem just the SR 901 and 801 had an issue???? I have no MM, but the batteries and spring seem to be just fine. I would like to replace the button, and have a few spares as well. its to bad, cause usually i prefer the 901 and 801 to the 510. The 306 is good too, but like i said it didnt seat down far enough. Sterno, You use two 3.7V batts??

No...I doubt it was both adapters....it could have been one or the other.
Some adapters are adjustable. If its not set right, it can push down on the center of the connector and cause a short. When that happens the insulator ring could have heated up and moved downward so that the 306 doesn't seat. may not be the case, but it is a thought. This could make it difficult to use other atties or cartos. Really....IMO you should probably contact Rob and make arrangements for him to check it out....just to make sure the connector is okay and the spring hasn't been over heated.

Adapters can be used but you have to make sure you set the adapter up properly. I put the adapter on my atomizer before I screw it into the mod. You have to make the bottom of the adapter while its attached to your atty look just like the bottom of a 510. If the center pin on the adapter protrudes to far you end up crushing the gasket on the the mod that separates the positive and the negative and you saw what happened you short the mod.Sounds to me like you didn't short it to badly its probably fine but I would be happy to go over the mod and replace your spring and button.
