Hi, my joye 510 just arrived in the mail. I literally just took 4 puffs and now all I get is burnt taste. I've checked and rechecked everything. cartridge is pre-filled with marlb high. everything's hooked up correctly....only problem: no Throat hit, and now barely a minute in...burnt taste.

please help me troubleshoot this, thanks!

Hi there I also have a 510, but never had a burnt taste... but from other posts, the things to look for are the filler from the cartridge touching the coils on the atomiser... Just look at the cartridge and be sure that the filler is not sticking out... other one to think about, did you blow the liquid off before using it? you need to blow through the atomiser to clear the 'shipping' liquid off the coils (blow through from the battery side) and also maybe just drop a couple of drops of e-liquid straight onto the atomiser to ensure you have a good flavour.

I hope this helps and I am sure there will be many other people with far more knowledge willing to help......

Hope you get things sorted :)

I'll bet there is still some primer in there... sounds like it, anyway. I would look for some of the cleaning threads, and try something like stuffing a paper towel in there and leave it for a while, maybe dry vape it a bit without inhaling the nasty stuff, or even flood it and drain it. Others will have better advice, but I think it will get better.

so primer gives off a burnt taste? and once I get through the primer it'll be ok?

Burnt taste is sort of generic. Primer can be one cause of it. Another can be not enough fluid - burning the filler. Also, make sure your mouthpiece is correctly aligned with the atty bridge. If you look inside your atty, you should see what looks like a white rectangle at the bottom. The rectangle shape of your mouthpiece should be as aligned as possible with that rectangle; some people have reported melting plastic, and I suspect that occurs mainly when the mouthpiece is misaligned. (Check the bottom of your mouthpiece for any areas that look melted, if you want to find out if that was the cause)

I had burning issues too (and I'm not entirely sure what caused it) at first. It does improve once you get the hang of it. At worst you may want to invest in some crest mouthwash (check for Sattec's atty cleaning thread in the "Experiments with equipment" forum for the details on that method of cleaning.)

thanks Dillan.

I did line everything up according to the white plastic outline. and the carts have no sign of any burning or melting so I doubt thats it.
All I have are pre-filled marlb high cartridges, and it looks really moist so I sincerely doubt its a dry atty.

I really dunno how I can "get the hang of things" if every atty I touch smells burnt after mere minutes. As far as I know, there's nothing i'm doing wrong.

and on top of it all, there's ZERO throat hit. This thing's annoying me and stressing me out so much that it's causing me to go smoke my analog more! :(

Make sure you don't have any pieces of the cartridge fill stuck in the atty (on the bridge). I kept having a problem with that when I first got my 510, before I started using the Lipton tea bag filler.

All it takes is one little wisp stuck on there to give a horrible taste. I was constantly checking it with tweezers every time I got a burnt taste, and sure enough, I would find a single wisp of the cart filler in there.

Look inside the atty in good light and see if any wisps are stuck on the silvery centerpiece. If so, just carefully pull it off with tweezers. Be careful you don't pull the thick white threads from underneath the bridge. Just on top.

As others have said, if you haven't blown the primer out of the atty's before using them, that could also be the problem. Always blow into the small top hole of the atty over a paper towel before using a new atty to get rid of the primer.

I would think it could burn it out if you did it long enough. But that might not be your problem. The 510's can be a bit tempermental until you figure them out and get them working right. Sometimes it's just something simple.

Did you get your 510 from a supplier who is on this forum? If so, go to their forum section and ask some questions there.
