Help! I keep "breaking" coils.

First off, Im trying to build a double micro coil on a Patriot rda clone.
26G Kanthal and cotton wicking. Not sure if "breaking" is the proper word but;

Im not sure if Im attaching the wires to the post correctly, because when I tighten the screws down the wire snaps and the coil falls out of the post. If I dont screw it down tight, then the screws are loose on top and the coil is free to move back and forth through the posts. Is there an alternative way of attaching them or am I just doing something incorrectly? I have already gone through three coils because of this -.-

You don't need to tighten the screws too much, just enough to make a connection and secure the wire in place. I had a similar problem with my nimbus clone and just had to pay a little extra attention when tightening the screws. Good luck with your builds :)

Thanks. It just seems like when I dont tighten them the screws wiggle around. Maybe my clone is just a terrible cheaply made p.o.s I dunno. Im getting ready to start a new coil right now. Fingers crossed.

make them snug not tight, there is a difference. Go until you feel a slight resistance. if they pull out easily then turn the screws 1/8 of a turn and check again. You can try doing it the harder way by trapping the leads between the tops of the posts and the undersides of the screws. But that's not how it was designed to work.

If you want to buy another, the Trident has a different way of securing the wire, clamping instead of pinching.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have somewhat gotten it figured out as far as how much resistance on the wire underneath the screw I can get away with.. BUT I will be looking into the trident for my next purchase. Does anyone here know of any RDA's that may have how can I say... interchangeable-aftermarket top caps(ie; color, shape, etc)? I tend to get OCD on constantly have a change and I would hate to just have to keep buying RDA's just to have a few different "looks" for my mod.

I know there are a lot of after market top caps for the Igo-w, there are probably a few for the patriot as well, or if they're the same size you might get away with interchanging them.
