Help, I really want an analog

I just started vaping a few weeks ago and I'm down to about 4 cigarettes a day, but I can't seem to get to the 0 ciarettes a day mark. I have to cut down slowly because of a medical condition, but I've been at 3-5 cigarettes a day for weeks now. Anyone know a good way to completely quit? I'm just having trouble with the 1 when I wake up, 1 after I eat lunch and dinner and 1 before I go to sleep. I tried smoking shorts, but they don't work. I always end up smoking the rest of the cigarette within minutes of puting it out. I really love my e-cigarettes and I don't think I could've gotten this far without them, but I still have to get rid of these last 4/day. It's very important that I quit, but equally important that I do it slow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That one when I wake was the hardest for me also.

I too smoked and vaped for a week or so ( even though I said I would not, I did )

But one morning 12 days ago, I just vaped instead of smoked, and used a freshly cleaned atomizer and a freshly charged battery, and it tasted great, better than what I hoped for with a cigarette, and that morning.... I just stopped. Every time I even thought about a cigarette I just had a couple of drags on my eGo and it passed.

Been 12 days now, smoked one cigarette yesterday, and it was terrible, I hated it, I realized I just don’t smoke anymore, I vape.

you guys remind me that im not normal lmao

im not trying to make this sound like im bragging but i quit cold turkey on 3/2 and i just chain puff on my inferno first day i just tinkered with it and yesterday i went through 6 tanks of 8mg (i think they only hold 1-2 ml each) i only smoked a pack a day before so maybe thats why. i thaught about picking up an analog but i kept reminding myself i needed to quit. i had already told myself i was not going to let myself smoke more than a pack a day and i was absolutely going to quit before i was 30. i set that to mental note when i started.

good luck man i know it isnt easy but suck down that vape non stop and it should ease the craving but your brain will do a hissy fit and tell you , you want an analog.

lol, I smoked 30-40 fags a day for nearly 17 yrs and the day I opened my riva901 I haven't picked up or even wanted a ... since!

I think it's different for everyone regardless of how many smoked or how long etc, I was never able to quit before yet this doesn't feel like quitting. I feel for those having cravings though because i know its hell.

Good luck guys! :)

Lots of vapers keep and extra high mg e-liquid around for just those times. Usually either 24mg or 36mg (whatever, as long as it's quite a bit higher than what you normally use) for the first vape of the morning, after meals, after intimacy, before work, whatever is your trigger moment.

You got that right, this doesn’t feel like trying to quit at all, this is replacing smoking with something that tastes better and is even more enjoyable. It is hard for me to even describe to my smoking friends how well this is working.

I went to one of those seminar's once to quit and they suggested keeping a list of every time you smoked for one day and each week cut out the first and last of your list until you eventually wound up at none. Obviously this didn't work for me until I started e-Ciggs but it seems like a relaxed way to achieve your goal over time. When I started vaping I was able to go from 18 a day to 1 or 2 so its not the same for me as you but might work for a gradual decline.

The other thing to try is to PROMISE yourself that you can have a cigarette IF the e-cig doesn't work to kick your craving. Every time you want the cigarette, vape for 10 minutes first and if you still want the cigarette go ahead and have it. Why suffer, right? This might work better if you get the higher mg e-liquid first.

Whenever I feel the urge, I tell myself I'll have one later, or tomorrow. Usually the urge passes and I forget about it.

Don't kick yourself about it though. Even if you have a couple a day, it's a thousand times better than before. Don't put too much pressure on yourself.

To be honest, the thing that keeps me from having one (and I do have them stashed in a box) is the smell. I love not smelling like a cig anymore.

Well....I thought I was going to be notified if there were posts to my thread, but somehow I missed that. I'm generally a forum stalker but not much of a poster so I'm not sure how it all works. But I'm thrilled the conversation has continued and I hope others have been helped by my original post. This forum is amazing and the people that come before us newbies to support us, are great!

I came back to this thread to post a final analysis of my breakdown last Tuesday for those that might be searching for help like I was last week. Wednesday in the middle of the night I woke up with one of the worst migraines I've ever had. Over the years I've noticed that the day before a migraine things occur that I only recognize the day after. I think that the desperation for analogs was linked, in part, to the migraine. Generally speaking, my brain mis-fires and affects many things in my life the day before I get a migraine. The migraine may have played a part in the freakout about analogs, but was also I'm sure due to job stress and other normal migraine stressors including the change in weather. Just another piece of information that may be helpful in the future.

The good news is that I survived 7 days, which means I can do more. The other good news is that before I did the 7 days I only smoked 3-5 analogs a day which is amazing. And the final good news is that I now know that this freakout can happen and will plan for it. I am hoping that, like many others, without putting pressure on myself I will just not want to smoke analogs all together and not have to deal with as much of a struggle. But thanks to all of your suggestions, if I do struggle, I know many tricks to combat the freakout including contacting my doctor, if need be. Now that I vape, I find myself not wanting to smoke so it seems totally logical it can happen.

Thanks all for paying it forward!!

I do sometimes crave for an analog but I've been smoke free for 11 days. At first my 901 didn't give me the amount of nicotine I needed (small cartridge, so about 1ml/day of 18mg liquid). Then I bought the ego, now the quantity is ok but sometimes I just have to think like:
-it's shaped like a cigarette/cigar
-it does smoke (steam I know) but I can inhale and exhale something visible
-it gives me nicotine
-it tastes like a fresh tobacco product (Dekang Dunhil)
-I can smoke (vape) for longer/deeper
So it's a God D*mn cigarette! I'm in the middle of nowere and this is the only cigarette I could find what would I do? Stop smoking? No way! I would smoke (vape) it !
And I don't want my counter to reset back to 0, you know, the further in time I go the stronger is the will not to lose all these days of my life, so... VAPE ON!
