Hi, all

I just got a new Kanger Protank II to go with a Vision Spinner II. The instructions for the tank say to fill it, turn it upright and let the coils soak for a few minutes. When I do this, the e-juice pours out of the bottom of the tank. This would mean that the liquid is in direct contact with the battery when I attach it - is this right? What am I doing wrong? Help, please!

Catsitter,
Something is definitely wrong. First, make sure the tank is assembled correctly. The two ends each have a clear silicone gasket that seals at both ends of the pyrex tank. Scree this assembly together tight enough to compress the gaskets sufficiently to make them seal. Next, screw your head into the base. It needs to be fully seated but excess tightening is not necessary and could deform the sealing gaskets there. Finally, screw the base into the tank assembly. If it is still leaking, try another head just to rule out an issue with a defective part there. Beyond that, I can't think of what else could be wrong.

Post one more time and then upload some photos. Makes the diagnosis easier. Only thing I can think of is there is something not right with how you are filling it up. I mean, some leaks are inevitable over time but 'e-juice' pouring out is not. Are you sure you have the coils sccrewed in completely and the bottom is screwed on but not too tight?

Well, while we are the subject, two things with the ProTank2.

First, get an Aero base for it. It really does make all the difference in the world!!

Second, they are extremely easy to make your own coils for. I got 100 feet of 32 ga wire for under $10 shipped from Amazon and picked up a big bag of organic cotton at a local drug store for less than $4 (you have to look in the make-up area for organic cotton). With this stuff I got enough to make coils for a couple of years.

Good luck and hope you enjoy it

My first few days, I had ALOT of leaking problems with my protank 2 mini. I believe the problem was linked to the atomizer head, as I had read somewhere that when you unscrew the protank 2 mini, the atomizer head has a tendency to loosen up. Such a frustrating little problem, heh. I'm glad you figured out your problem though. :)

Well that was wrong. lol

I'm afraid to ask where you bought it. A genuine PT2 should have come in a box with one coil installed, one spare coil, and a beauty ring.

I got it at My Vapor Store - it did come with (what looked like) two spare coils (and turned out to be install one, keep the other for spare) and the beauty ring and two gaskets. It's only my second e-cig, and I guess I just expected the tank to come all assembled, so it was quite the surprise when the e-juice just poured out on me. Fortunately I hadn't filled the tank so I didn't get all that much all over! And then I put the coil in and screwed the baseplate on and the coil didn't come far enough down to contact the battery... Turns out you have to screw the coil into the baseplate and then onto the tank. But it's working beautifully now and I'm pretty happy with it so far.

I'll look at the Aeros for my next round of indulgence, thanks.
As for DIY, I know nothing about electrical stuff and with what I've read on here about the dangers of DIY with ignorance, that's going to have to wait a while I think. It sounds like a great idea and fun, but it's just a little too scarey for me right now.

Its hard to beat a Protank 2 if it is set up correctly. The Aerotank base is the 1st thing you need to do to help this tank out. Second would be to carefully pull out the stock wick from the coil and replace it with cotton. Search for some videos about rewicking Protank ot Kanger coils. I rewick my coils about twice a week. Doing this can make a Kanger coil last over a month.

I have 3 Protank 2's and they all came without a coil installed....too funny you tried to use it that way but what a great way to learn.

Enjoy:vapor:

Like I said, complete newbie - is this Aerotank base just the airflow control valve? What makes this so specially good?
Does this rewicking work for other coils? My first e-cig, which I got in France, is a JustFog, not sure what it's American equivalent is. Would it also benefit from rewicking? or not worth the effort?

And yeah, it was a great way to learn... And I was lucky - I've learned that a lot of flavors are too strong for me so I cut them with unflavored juice. I had just put in maybe 1/3rd of a tankful to try a new flavor so there really wasn't a lot to make a mess with.

Thanks!

I can not for the life of me understand people saying their Protank2's leak. I have four of them and they have never leaked a drop. Work like a dream. If you are buying clones you can't compare them with the real deal. Call them what they are clone Protanks if that's what they are.

I experience some leakage issues when I first started (I've only been vaping since Monday). The only thing I could really attribute the leakage to was not having the atomizer head screwed in properly. Once I slowed down and put it back together properly, the leakage stopped for the most part. I still get a bit of leakage through the air holes in the base at times, but not enough to fret over.
