Hello all.
I am thinking of making myself a new battery using one of those altonoid tins or similar.
I have been overwhelmed by all the info on the the forum and could really do with a link or simple tips or instructions on how to do this?

I am currently using a ego c battery with the vivi nova tank and 2.4 ome heads.

Initially I thought I would use a square 9v battery and put a 4v resistor in the line and a switch. After reading posts of things blowing up and using armored batteries etc I feel this would be a bad idea.
I really have no real idea what voltage or battery to use etc....etc.

As you can probably tell I have no knowledge of electronics, however, I can soldier and follow instructions well.

I want to stick with the vivi tank and heads I have if possible and maybe recycle one of my batts to re use the 510 connection?

If possible a itemized list of things I would need would be great and any pictures would also be very welcome.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I will log on this evening when hopefully things will become clear to me?
Thanks again, Steve

I know it's not what you're looking for, but as a novice, as I am, I would suggest you start by making one of these. To get your feet wet. And then move on to bigger, more difficult things.

How to Build the Puck e-Cig Battery Mod - Part 1 - The PUCK eCig Mod

You're going to be amazed at how well this thing vapes. Use a 510 battery connector instead of the Radio Shack connector he suggests and a 3.0 or 3.2 single coil cartomizer or cartomizer tank.

I've made 4 different mods using 4AAA batteries and it's all I vape with anymore.

A 9V battery doesn't have enough mAh.. it'll run down rather quickly. Also, a resistor will reduce the current but not the voltage.

If you want an safe, solid, easy to build mod I'd say go with a puck. I built the same concept into an Altoids tin (pics attached) it's actually my favorite mod. The vapor production is great & with 1000mAh AAAs a full charge lasts me days. I run Mini Vivi Novas on it all the time so you shouldn't have a problem.

very simple if you can solder.

- 5 Amp switch
- Sealed 510 connector
- 18650 battery holder
- some wire, the thicker the better....
- your altoid tin
(links provided as reference, you can purchase what you need wherever you so choose)

wire it up (example of wiring layout, LED optional)

I say use an 18650 battery if it fits (pending Altoids tin size).... other size variants include 18500/18490 & 18350
no messing around with stacked batteries, which is VERY unsafe if you dont know what you are doing.
use a protected Li-Ion 18650 or IMR(safe chemistry) 18650
the AW brand is recommended by most.

hope that sheds some light on your modding:toast:

Hmmm. I didn't think you could build an altoids puck mod. Good to know.

Yup, I agree. I have built two pucks using 510 and 4 AA batteries, and I have built two using 510 and 4 AAA Batteries. I like to use 2.5 ohm attys - and I get great clouds of vapor, using a Genesis, and DCT Carto, and a 510 joy tank. All work great.

Except the darn Joy tank, it tends to leak like crazy - but I also removed the little tiny little wick, because I can get clouds and clouds of vapor without any wick taste. But, all in all, all three work great.

Oh I gave away two pucks to relatives.
