Help me find my first Mech Mod.

I know having requirements might seem strange for a first time Mech Mod buyer but I think they are reasonable.

1. I would like it to be a true 22mm device.

2. I would like the mod to be 18650, I am not interested in other batteries.

3. I would like the mod without tank to be shorter than 86mm. I have no length preference once it gets shorter than 86mm. I do not need the shortest available.

4. I would like it to be pocket friendly. Something to prevent accidental pocket firing.

5. I would prefer black or stainless but this is not a firm requirement.

6. I am not looking for a work of art.

Any suggestions?

Sorry @JJOOHHNN but I think you're seeking a unicorn... and a bad one, at that.

1) using only 18650 cells when the 2x700 offer superior performance... I don't get it. Kinda like looking for a heavy duty 1-ton truck, then specifying that it only use a 4-cylinder gas engine.

2) the cells are 65mm long. Allowing only 86mm and requiring a locking mechanism... gonna be rough. Especially if you get one with a 510 connection (highly recommended for a first time mech user).

Those issues noted, the Praxis mech - if you can find one - might do the trick. The switch is semi-lockable, it is under 86mm, it is 22mm, but it does have a hybrid top. Note that all mechs are pocket friendly if you take 5 seconds to remove the battery (and store it in a case) before pocketing it.

I have no idea but my guess is he wants the smaller battery because he wants to carry it around, guessing that from all the other requirements.

I also have no idea, but I wish you luck in your search.

Carrying a mech mod around, well, make sure whatever system you use to make it pocket friendly is 100% SUPERB and that you have a good memory would be my main advice.

I don't want to go to a larger cell for a couple of reasons. I will not be sub ohming so I will not need all of that head room. I will be using most likely 1.2-1.5 ohm coils.

The whole purpose of this is get better portability. I am very active and tend to have a lot of other gear to carry as well. If I have to I will stretch the length a bit but do not want to stretch the girth.

I am going to guess you have never done any backpacking nor done a survey of a cave. I do a lot of things that involve carrying a lot of junk and it all adds up.

Does it have to be pure mechanical? The Atto mod clone (Fasttech) is a chipped, side-button unregulated mod. It is 22mm diameter, 81mm length in 18650 mode, you can unscrew the battery adjustment on the bottom a couple turns so it won't accidentally fire. You could also use a belt-clip flashlight holster rather than pocket carry:

Of course, I prefer mine in 18350 mode, but that's against your requirements:

I'd still prefer a small dual battery mod in your situation. Just sayin'. You do you though.

Uh, can you clarify what you mean here? I can go all day on a single 18650 mech with builds between 0.8 and 1.0 ohms, and even longer when I used to build in the 1.5 ohm neighborhood.

As I stated in my post, it was my opinion. You must not vape like I do. A 30 amp battery last's me about an hour before I feel the drop in voltage, at the 2 hour mark I was swapping batteries. Even my dual battery mods only last around 4-6 hours but I run much lower builds on them.

Ah, ok. Just a slight disconnect in terminology --- Voltage Drop, in mechs, usually refers to the additive losses across the current path from the battery to the coil and is constant per mod/atty combo and not related to the build. Voltage Sag refers to how much the voltage sags at the battery under load and is proportional to the current draw (or inversely proportional to the resistance of the build in mechs).

You are referring to the normal voltage fall-off of the battery as it drains over time, and yes, different people accept more or less of that before changing the battery. However, that fall-off can be more objectionable the lower you build.

For example, with a 1.5 ohm build, someone might vape from 11-ish watts down to 9-ish watts, using 0.4v of their battery's state of charge (which might be around 1200mah of a 3000mah Samsung 30Q), and not find that fall-off objectionable. On the other hand, someone using a 0.2 ohm build might go from 72-ish watts down to 57-ish watts using 0.4v of their battery's state of charge (which might be around 800mah of a Samsung 2000mah 20S) ... and they might well decide to change their battery earlier because they find the fall-off from 72 down 57 more noticeable/objectionable.

Don't know much about mech mods, but wouldn't @JJOOHHNN possibly require a ruggedised waterproof mod due to the environments it possibly being used in.

As I know mechs definitely don't like water.

Check out the Nemesis and the Satburn. I have had probably over 50 mechs and those are pretty much the only 2 I use now. Both with KFL+ on them. Which, so far, is the best MTL experience I have ever had.

I just wouldn't go spelunking with a mech mod. I'm really sorry but that borders on suicidal but it's definitely showing off (unless you die.)

I guess risk taking behavior..... I mean there are bats and spiders and water and OH SUDDEN DROPS and I have really poor eyesight in the dark and just the WORST planning skills when it comes to that type of stuff.
