I am new to vaping, just learned of it a few weeks ago while searching for a way to quit smoking. I have spent the last two weeks researching this new found phenomenon and believe I have found my starting mod and a quality e-juice manufacturer. Knowing how I am, I am all but positive I will require a 100% VG juice. Having been smoking just over 1 pack of filter-less cigarettes a day for over 30 years I am also sure will need an 18mg mix as well. This is going to put me at a disadvantage according to my reading.

I have been watching a thread here entitled “Vaping 100% VG Based E-Juices......” to try to find the best cartomizer, unfortunately it is written in a manner I am unable to follow.

Unable to reply to that thread and not wanting to hijack it with more questions, would someone be willing to explain to me some of the changes they are making.

Example... (cannot quote) dmatrix7 said “protanks here with both floater wicks removed and most the time a portion of the main wick” HUH? Floater wick?

At this point the options I have selected for cartomizers are; the Fogger V3, the ProTank II, or the AnyVape Davide. If you have another suggestion or suggested changes I can make to one or another selected, I would be ever grateful. Just dumb it down for me please.

Thank you for looking and any help you can offer.

My friend wellcome and you are in the right place. Just be patient there is a lot of folks here to help you.
Now I think you should know clearomisers and cartomisers are different kind. choosing100%VG you had better use clearomisers. You know VG is thicker and absorbation of the lquid is slow. (with both of course) They say in this forum protanks are good. (I never tried one yet) Ianswer you being a man who uses cartos and clearos with nearly 100% VG. With clearos I did not have any problems. With cartos I use an x8 tank and have 2-3 holes to enchance the lquid entering.
Still best for you is to go to youtube or in the forum look critics of any system you will use and decide later. Also if you choose clearos, be sure to learn how to clean and dry burn them.
Well happy vapings

Start here mate,

FYI- floater wick= flavour wick...

"Aspire BDC....clearomizer (4 THE WIN!!.....!!!!" WHY is THAT On AUTO CORRECT ??? FOR THE WIN? ))

Bloody queefing bollocks !!!!!! ¡Coño!

have fun
I

Thank you for that link. Currently watching the PBusardo review on the Aspire BDC now. He says it is device dependent when talking about airflow. Can you, or anyone, tell me if the itaste SVD will need an airflow adapter?

Is the Aspire BDC Glass Nova-S the same thing?

Being new I do not know if I will be trying any of the juice that damages the plastic tanks so I am trying to stay with glass at the moment.

sorry about the confusion with the carto rather than clearo, will double check my notes and make needed corrections.

That is all you need to quit the killer cigs. Once you have the switch out of the way, you can research and consider a upgrade to fine tune your experience. But if you don't want to become a enthusiast and have vaping as a hobby, you'll be perfectly happy with that setup. Its the cheapest and most reliable and carefree and satisfying and quality for money that I can think of.

I've been using the Aspires since watching PBusardo reviews about a month ago...
they are not glass but they do seem to hold up very well... I LOVE them... I used to only use
Protank, but I have found Protanks seem to be very random....

But like Albcig mentioned these are not cartomizers. they are clearomizers......

some people swear by cartomizers others by clearomizers just depends on who you
talk to.

I use mine on a Vamo V5 and a Segelei Zmax.... and have zero problems, every time.

You might want to Reserve Judgment on exactly what you like until you try a few Combinations of PG to VG and Nicotine Levels.

When I started, I thought I should use 18mg because that is Kinda what the Math said to do Nicotine-wise. I was Wrong. I had to go Higher to keep from Climbing the Walls without a Smoke.

Same with VG. I didn't like the Harshness of 100% PG e-Liquids. So I thought that 100% VG would be the Ticket. It Wasn't.

I found I needed Some Amount of PG or my e-Liquids have Very Little Taste. Huge Clouds of Vapor. But not enough taste for Me.

Everyone is Different. So take what you read, Including this, with a Grain of Salt. Just go out there and find what Works for you. And that will take some Experimentation.

I understand the differences between the clearos and the cartos, I think where I went wrong was I had just watched a video on the Helios and was thinking carto and atomizer (far above my level) and just made a mess of the first post. Forgive me for that please.

My reason for 100% VG... Being me is a pain in the ..., I am allergic to a lot of things, from grass to the filters on cigarettes. For this reason I think my first attempt I should side with caution and start with a safer choice like virgin vapor gourmet juices. I am serious about wanting to quit smoking so I dont want stomach aches and sore throats stopping me.

My reason for a VV/VW mod... A lot of the reviews point out that you have to play with the voltage or wattage with VG to get the full flavor, I just wanted to make sure I had that option if I needed it. I was going to get the 1.8 ohm heads and start at 4.3 volts and go from there. Suggestions?

I know I have a lot to learn and a long road ahead of me, that is the reason I finally registered, I hope to place my first order on Jan 2nd when the world goes back to work. With your help (if willing) I want to have everything I need to start vaping the day the order arrives.

I spend over $200 a month smoking, so if it takes me 2 months up front to quit, I am willing to pay it. I am not suffering from shinyitis (not yet anyway) just doing what I think will most likely keep me vaping from day 1. You are the vapers and I value your opinion.

Thank you, when I place my order I will add a few 24mg to it, hopefully I pick a nice all day flavor for it when I do. Is there a way to change 18 to 24 yourself if needed?

There is No Easy way to go from 18mg to 24mg without Flavor Loss.

But there are Easy Ways to go from 24mg to anything less by Adding 0mg of the same Flavor.

You find your Sweet Spot mg wise after a little Trial and Error. Just don't be afraid to go to mg Numbers that seem like Much More than what you got from Cigarettes.

E-Liquids mg is Based on Total mg per 1 ml of Volume. Cigarettes mg is the Average amount of Nicotine when the Average person Smokes 1 Cigarette.

Two Different Numbering System/Scales.

Not really, but it's easy to make 18mg out of 24mg liquid.
I found that I would get nic-sick if I vaped 24mg all the time, but I needed it for when I felt like climbing the walls. So early on I found that a gallon of PG or VG from Essential Depot ($20-25) was pretty handy stuff to have around.

Since you already suffer from allergies, you also know that they can be really tricky to sort out, and the odds for being allergic to VG are the same as they are for PG. The only real way to find out is to only add one component at a time.

I'm a carto guy, so I'll leave the clearo advice up to those that use them.

Oh nooo.. don’t bail on me now.

I selected clearos because it seems to be where many are, more reviews and just about every kit comes with them. Might be poor thinking on my part but just what I have seen. To tell the truth I do not care if I start with a Nimbus drip atomizer and have to rebuild it everyday to keep the flavor alive if it stops me from smoking (like the looks of it anyway *shinyitis).

So please give your opinion, just do not be offended if I don't follow it. The more I learn and the more options I know of, the more likely I am to enjoy it (my opinion) and stick with it.

Thanks for looking everyone, this is a big step for me, and while I might be making it more than it is, I am uneasy about the transition. I'm the type that doesn't want to “know” I want to “understand”, if that makes sense.

Now how could I not respond

About the only clearo available when I started vaping was the CE2 (you spent two hours getting one to work properly .... for 5 minutes), so almost everyone used cartos. Then during the spring - summer of 2012 the quality of cartos took a nose dive (Bogegate), and the R&D with clearos skyrocketed. There was literally a new version being introduced every week (if not every day).
So IMO, at least to some degree, it would really depend on which was the latest & greatest when a person began vaping.

I am a carto guy too. Don't know why, but I keep going back to them. I use Smok tanks with cartos. I think I like the sound and the draw on them the most. As far as finding that magic vape that will make you forget analogs, I wish you luck. I think it is possible, but you to keep telling yourself, you want to make the change. Try not to keep comparing to an analog(cigarette). As soon as you find that sweet vape, you will never want to taste an analog again and when you do, you will realize how much more delicious and fun vaping is. As everyone else has stated, start small and see what works. If not, come back here and research more and see what works for you. You are in the right place. Happy vaping and welcome!
