I'm having some problems with my poor throat and nose. Been vaping over a month. No more analogs. I have a Kanger Evod, which I like.. and a Kanger EMOW (which I don't like). It's time for me to move up.. and I have to vape only 100% v g because of my throat and I need to cut back the nic for sure. Started at 18mg 70/30.. On 12 now (painful) and just got some 100% VG @12mg. But I can't use it in the EVOD. I'm using in the EMOW but I can't seem to get the settings right. Airflow 3 holes.. battery at 4.2 (green) Not getting a lot of taste and still kills my throat. No way I can blow vapor out of my nose. Too painful. What do I need? I'll get lower nic (6 mg) 100%vg and I'm looking at the Kanger subox. I'm afraid it might be too sophisticated for me.. But I'd like to try it, unless somebody has a better idea for something I can run 100% VG in. I have to heal my poor throat and I cannot go back to analogs.. And yes. I am drinking a ton of water. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi birdy. The Subbox shouldn't be too difficult for you to use. You should also get quality batteries for it and a separate quality battery charger. Baditude is the battery guru and his blog can be found here :

RECOMMENDED BATTERIES
1. Orbtronic SX30 2100mah 30A
2. Sony VTC4 2100mah 30A (there are no authentic VTC5's out there)
3. Xtar 2100mah 30A (re-wrapped Sony VTC4)

1. AW 1600mah 24A
2. Orbtronic SX22 2000mah 22A
3. LG HE2/HE4 2500mah 20A
4. Samsung 25R 2500mah 20A
5. AW 2200mah 20A (new)

Where to buy
Illumn.com - Flashlights, Batteries, Carry Gear, Intelligent LED Lighting, and More!
Authentic AW Batteries - RTD Vapor
Fenix Flashlights, Solarforce, Cree LED, Lithium Batteries, Lithium Ion Batteries, Li-Ion Chargers, Maxpedition Bags, Spyderco Knives and more!
Batteries-Chargers-Flashlights-Only The Best

The first thing I changed when I got my Subtank Mini was to get a more restricted drip tip (I am a mouth to lung vaper)to replace the wide bore (mostly for lung hits).

Sounds to me like it's the nicotine hurting your throat. You've already ruled out PG because you don't use it. VG is very thick so if you have issues with it wicking you can add a little distilled water (available at about $1 a gallon) to help keep from dry hits. Remember to start low with any new device and work your way up with whatever new toy you decide upon. Good luck.

i have the subox setup and love it - very user friendly, variety of options (different stock coils at .5, 1.2, 1.5 ohms available, as well as improved rba deck for it)... and the subtank mini that comes with the kit definitely has improved airflow over the original version... currently vaping on it with .5 ohm coil at 35 watts and getting good flavor, great vape with a high vg juice (80/20 I believe)... personally, i would recommend the subox - have heard of some folks having some issues with tank, but i have not had any to date and I have a number of the kanger subtanks (couple full size, both original and plus versions and several of the minis)

Thanks for the battery info. That would have been my next question.. I got some distilled water and did add a little to my 100% VG to use in the EMOW.. I was using PG, which is why I think my throat hurts. I used the VG all day today and my throat is a little bit better but that could be because I'm just holding the vapor in my mouth and sort of swishing it around to get the nic. Not letting it hit my throat (not easy) Why is it hurting now, after a month of vaping?? I'm worried it won't get better. I can't give up vaping. ugh I was a chain smoker 2PAD for 30 yrs. Thanks Sir!!

Drink water. A majority of people that I know in real life that have had problems with pg were resolved when they increased fluid intake.
If I drank any more water, I would float away.. I think it's the nic. Dropping down to 6mg might help. Getting some today.

The Subox is (from what I'm hearing) a good, inexpensive kit. 50 watts is plenty, plus it comes with a matching subtank mini. It's also going to be pretty easy to work. If you're looking to get into high-max VG juices, the subtank can handle them. I would also suggest dropping your nic level to what you feel comfortable with.

Thanks Tom.. The first thing I'm going to do is drop the nic level. I vaped 100%VG in my EMOW all day yesterday. No throat issues. Tried the 20/30 mix today and immediately got a sore, scratchy throat. I must be one of the unlucky ones that can't tolerate PG. ugh Def. getting the Subox, since I'll have to run 100%VG.. Thanks so much for your input!

Try starting out around an 80/20 VG/PG mix. You may have to use the RBA section of the tank for Max vg liquids because they're so thick.

I had the same problem and it was due to high nic. Also it does take some time to adjust to the vapour. I would personally recommend going down to a 6mg blend. And for the mod, go for either the subox, or even the Kbox. Both are great devices. The Kbox is very user friendly, albeit you know what battery and battery charger to get. I reccomend the Samsung 25R 2500mah and the nitecore v2. Both can be obtained for around $25. For the tank I would go with either the subtank nano, or the mini. Both are great and the only difference is a larger capacity, improved airflow and the option to use the rba. All in all, go with what best suits you and these are just reccomendations.

Lewis.. Thanks for the recommendations. Just ordered some 100%VG at 6mg nic. I can put a little distilled water to thin it out to use in my EMOW for now. Can you explain about the RBA??? I'm a total noob here.I'll take a look at the Kbox. Thanks!

So basically, the rba section on the subtank plus and mini. What this allows is for you to be able to build your own coils. For instance, the subtanks come with a 0.5ohm coil and a 1.2ohm coil I do believe. Building your own coils gives you the freedom to do much more than what the standard coils are capable of. When you build a micro coil, or a nano coil, or even a Clapton coil, you can specialise it to your own taste and your own preference, whether it be flavour or vapour production. At the moment I have a 0.6ohm Clapton coil in my subtank plus, I like that setup because it gives really killer flavour and descent vapour production for a cool vape as I don't like hot vapes. and that's what the rba section gives you, it's essentially a rebuildable coil that sits below a tank.that's it! Easy as pie. Hope I helped shed some light on the matter, peace

Whoa.. that looks a lot different than the coil in my Evod and EMOW.. I don't like hot vapes either, given my sore throat. So much to learn. Easy as pie for you, maybe..lol I want to learn to do this because I feel like I will be vaping for a long time.. Thank you .. and I may be bugging you again!

Haha, I was only like yourself when I started! All I did was browse forums and watch YouTube videos. Check out rip trippers. I sure learned a few things or two from him. Hope to see you building your own coils one day dude, peace
